Cait Sith design in Final Fantasy VII Remake... how they will handle him?

But he was one of the reasons that FF7 was so unique. FF7 had the best cast of all the ff games thanks to him and Red. Was so disappointed with the lack of non humanoid party members in the other games.

He's way too important story wise to take out of the game. I think he and the moogle will look fine in the remake.

I'm much more interested to see if they give
Reeve
more screen time.

How many things has Nomura shot down already because people thought it wouldn't fit? Cross dressing? Shot down. Honey bee inn? Shot down. Stop overthinking things about the remake. If they aren't going to change those things then they sure as hell aren't going to change a critical character.

They won't rest until they've sucked all the fun, comedic aspects of FFVII, so they can keep it dark and gloomy and pretend the game was always that way.

I for one welcome the catgirl redesign of Cait Sith.

She was a girlcat in XI

Honestly, I would be ok with him being retconned out of existence. He is such a lame character.

Wasn't he retconned into being a living cat in the future games, with only the stuffed toy being a robot ?

People asking questions like these cannot possibly have played FFXIII-2 or Lightning Returns. Tons of silly cute shit in those amongst realistic design.

FF at its core is the juxtaposition of serious and cute elements.. And if you think it's an odd mix, I bet a Japanese studio wouldn't.

mascot looking character next to realistic looking people in a Final Fantasy game? nevar!

They don't need to change anything.

surrrrrree he doeeeesss...just as much as Quinna played in 9 lol.

Besides stuff everyone knows about with him blackmailing the party and his sacrifice at the temple of the ancients...

- Rescues Tifa
- Frequently spies on Shinra and provides information on what they're doing in regards to the Huge Materia

Not to mention, his interactions with Barret lead to a substantial role in Barret's character development, such as Barret realizing he was a terrorist and him repenting for those actions at the beginning of the game.

The doll is a magically repurposed amusement park stuffed animal. Disney Land and chuck e cheese exist in the real world, with animatronic dolls. A fictional magically animatronic doll from a fictional amusement park, is not out of place in a fictional world.

Get the fuck over yourselves manchildren.

Nah, the cat is still a robot. IIRC, three or four of them get destroyed in Dirge of Cerberus.

Can't see any reason to change., he's (supposed to be) an amusement park mascot.
There's crazier stuff in the world of Final Fantasy 7.

Make Cat Sith super fluffy and adorable (should be easy enough.)

And make the doll a creepy Five Night's At Freddy's Amusement Park Animationic. Let this be one of those changes, and have the group scared at an amusement park only to have an adorable Cat Sith pop out of nowhere and tell everyone it was a joke.

Exactly. If people don't like the concept of a cartoony cute stuffed robot doll fighting alongside the likes of Cloud and crew... they don't have to play the damn game. Cait Sith's been a staple in FFVII since 1997, git ova it. peebles! Harsh as it sounds, you should KNOW this by now(all these years later). Regardless of the changes to the story, this is still a JRPG and will have JRPG tropes. No likey, get offa the train before the next checkpoint, cause the IDs ain't workin this time!

Some of these questions regarding "fantasy" aspects in the FF series makes me wonder how long some of these people have been "into" the series. Even recently, FF isn't shy about it's fantastical elements.

They've had ample time to write him out if they wanted to.

He appears in spinoffs like Advent Children and looks fine.

His look will probably stay the same just with more detail.

People seem to think this remake = gritty reboot and I doubt that will be the case. I have a feeling with voice acting, everything will actually come off lighter than the original.

Within the confines of the Gold Saucer he absolutely wouldn't look out of place. That he's brought out of it in to the rest of the world is part of the hilarity and charm of his role. Nothing needs to change at all.

It was OK and can be tolerant in the original game because of the overall charming design... but now in the remake how they will handle him?

I mean the design will look so out of the place with the rest of the cast and characters:

What do you think they should do with the design of Cait Sith?

P.S: I'm not talking about the cat, I'm talking about the HUGE doll he is mounting.

Seriously op? And Cait Sith *is* the cat.

Adam Prime

hates soccer, is Mexican
Who knows, they have the next five years to figure out during this game's future development. I'm sure it'll come out okay.

Cait Sith stays. Cross-dressing Cloud, musclemen sauna time and bro-date with Barret also stay. Keep FFVII weird.

I could just as well think it's an oldschool fan who's convinced themselves in the rear view mirror that VII is inherantly a serious Blade Runner style adventure, when it's actually a totally anime property, full of cute elements and comedic situations.
