I think it'd be cool to see more African country based (not Egyptian) mythology. About the closest thing we get in games is voodoo (Witch Doctor in Dota 2). Frankly I'm unfamiliar with African mythology because it's rarely presented in my media.

The original DOTA was made with W3 heroes.
It's impossible to complain about it because the original creator could only use those heroes.
The complaint would have to be directed at W3 itself.

It's a legacy thing from Warcraft 3. Although they did do a gender swap with LC when bringing her over. I honestly never noticed, a lot of heroes seem only vaguely "human" as is.

Legacy means nothing when it comes to character design.

2 male characters from WC3 became female in dota 2, Winter Wyvern and Legion Commander.


Regardless the character diversity is so large only 18 characters have an obviously human design. It's a shame that only 4 characters have any attributes that could be counted as distinctly not inspired by european attributes but it's not a big deal. I've been largely satisfied with the diversity of the hero pool. I find it more odd that people still refer to Wyvern as a guy even though she was introduced with a full blown cutscene as otherwise.

Most the Heroes draw from european cultures or they have a scifi background. Not too many heroes influenced by african continent or asian cultures.

That's different and you should've had that also in your OP if you wanted this discussion to be about more than ethnicity. That said I doubt you have any better of an idea of what mythology various creatures are inspired by any more than I do.
