Batman AK PC Perf Thread of DARKNESS, NO SETTINGS [30fps cap / intro removal in OP]

How about stop making 10 other pieces of preorder bonus content and stop work on seasons pass dlc untill the actual game isn't a fucking dumpster fire. How's that sound

I'm guessing there might have been a few "oh shitballs" uttered around the Rocksteady offices when Steam announced their refund policy a few weeks ago.

It sounds like a dejavu, honestly. And we know how it ended.

I refunded this game , the last PC game I'm getting this year is Metal Gear Solid V . I'll wait till the Creation Kit for Fallout 4 comes out and it gets patched by Mods.

I didn't have crippling performance issues whatsoever (30-40fps) with a GTX670. Settings were a good deal higher than the PS4 version too.

There are videos showing the 780 performing worse than the 960 at 1080P.(Ultra)

I left this thread at page 14 last night. Guess this means shit hit the fan while I was away.

So, what's the word? Gonna hold out for this. Thankfully I didn't purchase it.

How far into the game before I should notice the issues? Woke up early to play a few minutes before heading to work. I've only played enough to glide around Gotham and attack a group of thugs before jumping off the game. Did not notice any issues. I'm using stock settings plus added rain effects, using an i5-3570k, Evga ssc 970 and 8GB Gskill at 2333

Seriously, there is close to 0% chance that everyone involved didn't know what they were about to release.

I will never buy a Rocksteady game again if this isn't fixed.

Its going to be the same Thing here. Ps4 gamers thread shitting here swear that the ps4 is comparable to the high settings were running the game at, until the hilarious digital foundry article that points out crowd density is below lowest on ps4, etc.

Of course doesnt change the fact that performance isnt what it should be. What is it with this company and dx11? Or is it denuvo?

Well, that was my intention too...but I don't know. Actually I'm glad PC version for MGSV will be released 15 days later on PC, at least we can know how much microtransactions impact the game.
If the impact is huge, well...75% off.

I already preorder the PS4 Edition from my Country and the PS4 Collector's Edition from US.

Ground Zeroes was an excellent port , hopefully Phantom Pain works well.

Yikes! Hope they get this stuff sorted quickly :/

Someone pointed out , don't get your hopes up http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Ba...Patch-Story-DLC-Developer-Priority-62173.html .

Its Warner we are talking about.

Feel incredibly fortunate to not have any issues running a fairly solid 60fps, 780ti w/ 3570k, all settings normal with gameworks stuff off and adaptive vsync forced through the control panel. Even the batmobile sections feel fine, and I'm honestly quite sensitive to stutter. Anyone else with a 780ti having a decent time of things? Hope Rocksteady patches up the issues for everyone asap, shame to blemish their record like this.

With my modest setup of 3570k@4.5GHz, 8GB DDR3 and an overclocked 970, I haven't had any unreasonable issues yet at 2560x1440 and fps max set to 144. Now obviously it isn't locked at 60 but that's why I have Gsync. FPS seems to be mostly between 50 and 80 with all (regular) settings at maximum, and obviously all Nvidia specific settings turned off because those settings almost never run properly anyway.

I did install the game on SSD so that might help with some of the streaming/stuttering issues, which, as I said, I haven't experienced yet. Or maybe it's Gsync that partially hides such issues? Seen the fps dip few times below 50 but not below 40 even with the batmobile. Not yet, anyway.

So far so good. Performance is about what I expected with a single 970 and a resolution of 2560x1440. Witcher 3 did actually run slightly worse even with some settings turned down. (Again, that game was perfectly playable despite fluctuating fps thanks to Gsync.)

A quick test this morning confirms a framerate that swings all over the place. G-Sync is very useful here.

..Course, a refund would be more useful. But I screwed up by going with GMG.

edit: Bonus points for sneaking in Denuvo. WB sucks.

The variations are so severe that even gsync doesn't help. And there is some inherent stutter. Fuck this port, I'm done.

wow, fucking wow, played like 1 hour with the fps locked. Stays mostly at 30 until the batmobile sections that range from 30 to 20. i7 and 970gtx here, at 1080. That is with all gameworks. Taking them off does nothing to run the game better (and im not going to unlock the framerate becuase of all what im reading), so Im letting them on.

And what is about the fucking blurrines the whole game has? it makes it look like crap. And Im not talking only about the movement blur (that im taking it off as soon as i find the .ini shit) but the whole thing looks like someone smeared noise and blur to the whole image.

Already put a negative review on steam. Can't have a refund because it came with the nvidia card, but ive already read the WB fuckers took off some hours before the game went live, the harley dlc from all the nvidia versions.
Wow! Just majestic, way to go warner bros.

Thank god I still need to beat The Witcher 3, and I even have lego jurassic world, so I can wait a lot for patches.

The PS4 and Bone have 8 GB RAM, this IS the "New Normal". Texture detail is really good in this game guys, we should get used to there not being a "High" and "Ultra" textures option anymore in the world of consoles that have 8 GB of RAM. Normal is what used to be High before consoles got a decent RAM pool to use.

But the textures look like crap right now.
The pass from the witcher 3 (vegetation apart that you can even tweak a lot with the ini so it can look good) to this is like a kick in the nuts.

That's not your argument.

The Witcher 3 ran surprisingly well at launch without nvidia effects on, was the statement. Your rebuttal was, unless you had Kepler.

I don't care about the relative performance to to other cards because architecture, engines and optimizations among those will vary (and the early driver release helped out further, anyway). The Kepler cards still ran The Witcher 3 surprisingly well at launch with nvidia stuff off. The surprisingly part makes sense given the recommended specs.

Of course you can argue "well" only meaning locked 60fps at 4k. I'd argue you're a fool and setting yourself up for a LOT of disappointment as this generation meanders on.

You can't Optimise jack shit if there are like 5 things in your settings , most of the real stuff is in the config files.
Yea, but still.
- Gameworks release
- Bundled with NVIDIA 9xx, etc. cards
- High profile release
...
???
Seems like this was thrown under the bus. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Im at 1440p so the frame rate dips are much more apparent than at 1080p unfortunately, but yes so lonflg as im not in the batmobile, and all the nvidia stuff is off im getting around 50 to 60 fps. That what i get with witcher 3 but with witcher 3 its clear what the game is doing. This game doesnt look much better than origins whichh ran at like 90 fps on my rig.

Idk, I imagine they will try and fix this as it is like their current flagship title and it's probably one of the largest titles they've ever launched. Origins was kind of a side game, and while it's inexcusable that they didn't patch it properly this will probably be far higher priority. (Hopefully)

Was wondering about that too. This is quite the AAA blockbuster game and has a plethora of Nvidia Gameworks stuff, so that's weird indeed.

Some one posted way back on in the first few pages that Andy said he he had been busy with E3 and other stuff so expect a tweak guide in the next few days. Wont be one on launch day

Oh it's one of those magical framelocks that increases your dips as well? So without lock it stays above 30 at all times, but with lock it frequently dips?

Frame rate limiters can cost performance. It depends on implementation, but it's completely possible for this to be the case. Some software will work to predict when the next complete frame is likely to finish rendering. This has a compute cost.

Ah, I see, that would make sense.
Not that there is much to tweak anyway but still it felt weird after the strong presence with Witcher 3 and other Gameworks titles in the past.

The performance issues are one thing and can be fixed. The stealth installation of Denuvo is a different story altogether and WBI should be dragged along the coals for that one.

Witcher 3 ran fine on Keplers at launch, if you can deal with the fact that you'd never get 60fps, even on low.

I just locked it at 30 and I have experienced solid 30fps from day one. It's alright.

30fps is far from ideal, but my card is far from ideal for the newer games as well, I can't expect a turtle to be faster than a horse.

I can, however, expect a GTX 680 to be faster than a PS4, and it was. Better graphics and framerate than PS4 on Witcher 3, on day one. So I say it ran fine.

Arkham Knight in the other hand, even a 970 can't hold solid 30fps when the PS4 does, now that is indicative of something wrong with the game itself, not keplers not being able to hold 60fps on every game ever.

These people disagree with you , then again I don't own a Kepler card . I own GTX 980s , I've just read about many complaints from people who owned Kepler cards when the game launched .

demanding refund hours after a game is out cause performance issues is a bit cray

I mean, complaints SHOULD be loud and clear, but so far they are. I cant really delve deep into the game till tomorrow night and at this rate I expect SOMETHING to get better

I dont say this defending WB, I say it as the best outcome for us

I don't see the complaints really meaning as much without the refunds. What else should be the answer to what does it take for games to stop shipping in a semi-broken state? WB should get hit hard pulling this after MKX.

Im really considering buying the ps4 version. No double dipping though, i got the game with the purchase of a Nvidia card.

I know a few people who have done that today. It's unfortunate that some people like these games enough that they are willing to pay for them twice.

Yep, coming off Witcher 3 this port is an insult. W3 looks much better and runs much better. This is pretty much a last gen game with some added effects. GG port monkeys.

i don't know why people are blaming GameWorks again. Even if you turn those options off game has issues. Turning all GameWorks options except smoke have very little impact and again smoke is volumetric and can cast shadows so of course it is demanding.

Get a refund , unless you can't . Then make up for it by never buying a Warner game.

I can't ( physical PC copy, no refund policy where I live). I've already stopped buying any EA games since the last 2 years. Let see how WB will handle this the coming days.

Just for shits and giggles, I've installed the game on my old ass HTPC. Tri-core Llano @ 3.2GHz, Radeon 5770 1GB. Not quite playable, but the minimum system requirements stated by WB have to be a joke. I get 9 to 35 FPS on a system that was low-end even back in the PS360 days. Granted, that's just 720p with everything set as low as possible, but isn't that what "minimum specs" are supposed to be all about?
