Batman AK PC Perf Thread of DARKNESS, NO SETTINGS [30fps cap / intro removal in OP]

I wish I could hat you to death
No doubt this will be fixed later, but Rocksteady games get crossed off my Day 1 purchase list. It's getting pretty short.

You are definitely NOT getting 60fps with that rig.

You probably won't even get a stable 30.

PS4 is the way to go for now. Some day, when it's polished up and you've upgraded, you can pick it up on PC during a Steam sale and enjoy it at a higher frame-rate.

really? 780 and i3570k are OC'd and handle everything else. Assuming it's just not the game being busted, 30 should be no problem. 60 could be a push but maybe on normal settings I would be OK.

If there is going to be a huge patch, when can we expect it? Even running like crap, I'd like to play it for a few hours. I imagine a few days away?

"It's filmic though. It's fine etc." and my favorite "solid 30fps". They love that word.

For what is advancing I want more from my OC'd 970. I'll be first to bit on the 1080 Gigabyte version when it comes. Seriously, though, it might not even do much if this is what we have to put up with for optimization in games.

darkx10 is a bit like that. i remember he was advising people similar things when battlefield 4 game out, telling people who were getting a couple of dropped frames on a maxed out 1080p PC version to get the flawless PS4 version, despite that having huge framerate issues in multiplayer and running at a uniformly lower spec.

in this case, i think the only think muggier than putting up with a port this bad is giving the publisher an extra 10-15 notes to play it on another platform.

Well to make matters worse, I tried the Harley Quinn DLC and it runs great, but get to the second room and I lose complete control of Harley and simply can't move her, just the camera.

Amazing work here.

It seems like I'm the only one not getting into any major issues besides the frame drops when things get crazy in the batmobile but that's to be expected considering how much is going on and the settings im running

I'm fine here too. the batmobile is where it gets sketchy

I have both the PC and the ps4 version. Played both for 10 minutes. It is quite obvious that the ps4 version looks better. The rain effects look Much better on the ps4

What PC specs are you running and with what graphics settings?

Edit: It runs pretty good for me and I'm on an HDD.

30fps isn't acceptable for a 970, let alone a 980+ and anyone who rationalises "it plays pretty smooth with the 30FPS lock on" is a mug.

go get your refunds, give it a one star review and move on with your lives.

The recommended specs for Ultra settings are a 980.

Urgh, I don't know why but my retail PC copy of AK has a slip advertising the season pass but it says "Expires 31/12/2025" there is no code here though to expire.

Are they already saying that DLC for this game will be useless after a cut off date??

Well, this is disappointing. I guess I'll be waiting until this game gets a heavy discount during a Steam sale before I get it. Hopefully it will be fixed by then.

I bought the PS4 version, fuck you rocksteady and Iron Galaxy.

Yeah, fuck those guys! Let's give them our money! That'll show 'em!

Are we really at a point where the PC is treated with such malcontent by AAA developers that the PC version of the game can look worse than a version running on a console with a 3 year old GPU?

something just feels off. Aside from the frame rate, textures look really crappy, everything looks like it has a vaseline filter...it definitely looks nothing like the trailers I have seen. I have a 970 and it looks worse than screenshots and videos i have seen from the ps4 version. I wish I could take screenshots of what I am seeing, but printscrn pauses the game for some reason, and F12 isnt working for steam screenshots.

Its all just...odd. I am standing next to a brick wall and it just looks all blotchy and gross.

Is that the wall near the first side quest to rescue the fire crew and which has a sign on it because I see exactly the same thing? The wall texture looks like something from an N64 game (I kid you not) and never fully loads in, even if I wait several minutes.

I thought it might have been because I had edited the MaxFPS=30 setting to allow for an uncapped framerate in game but now I am thinking it is likely a bug. When I first played the game post-release for an hour with everything maxed at 1920x1200 and all the GameWorks features on I thought the game looked amazing, albeit the 30 fps framerate (why, oh why?) was a little off-putting and the anti-aliasing is very poor (I am using an i7-4770K, 16 GB, GTX 980 Ti and Windows 8.1 Pro by the way and the v353.30 drivers).. There was minimal stuttering though but the game just did not feel smooth at a locked 30 fps as it does on console (someone explain that to me please?). The game feels much nicer with an above 30 fps but then I get more stuttering, especially when driving the Batmobile at speed. It's like the engine is not optimised to run above 30 fps which is absurd as this is a more advanced iteration of the one that powered the first three Batman Arkham games on PC.

I think you're a bit confused.

BF4 on PS4 is anything but flawless and I've been recommended PC versions of games left and right for a while now. This is one of the first exceptions in a long time.

I did complain about BF4 on the PC at launch, though, as I was using a 580 at the time and was pissed off at how bad performance was. I couldn't get anywhere NEAR a smooth 60fps.

Yeah, fuck those guys! Let's give them our money! That'll show 'em!
Man, I dunno, Rocksteady themselves did a fucking amazing job. The fact that the PC port was farmed out is the issue. Was it Rocksteady's decision? WB's?

The Nvidia Enhancements are complete jank in this game, I don't think they are even worth having on.

-Debris... A bunch of crap flying around in a highly exaggerated manner. Performance waster.
-Rain... Slight change. Barely noticeable, performance waster.
-Light-shafts... They look barely better than the cheap Photoshop lens-flare the base game has. If I'm locked at 60fps, the helicopters will drop me down to 50fps with their shitty light rays and it doesn't even look good at all. Performance waster.
-Smoke/Steam... The effect kind of looks alright.. Except it almost looks like a fluid simulation, it's weird and doesn't look well implemented. Performance waste.

I don't get it. Nvidia shitting up the place.
