I've never had burnout for anime before. There's always something that I haven't seen that I want to watch.

Me neither.
There was always at least a couple series every season that I had to watch or something older that I had to buy. It has been of sufficient variety to keep my interest.

Of course not, I'm not excited that a series has rape in it nor am I so appalled that I refuse to give it a chance. If anything I'd rather have not known it was coming that way I'm not anticipating it every other scene. I do think what Puruzi said about it not being what they signed up for does summarize I think my main problem with Gate in that it seems unsure what kind of tone it wants to have. Some scenes in the OP and in the first episode makes the series seem like it wants to be this fun fantasy/adventure with military elements, other scenes it seems to want to tell a dark/violent war story between two worlds. If the series was straight up one way or the other it'd be probably have grabbed my interest more.

I absolutely understand what you're saying Bass, I really do. Though I'm not the one who has issues with the rape to just drop a series in an instance. It's true that it does seem like GATE is bordering on different tones that it wants to take, which could be a worrying sign since it's the first episode, but that's not an issue I have with it.

Welp from what I remember, read the manga over a few months ago, there is
rape.
But I dont know if the show will reach that point in the manga, also it was episode was "censor" compare to the manga. I dont really consider it a harem for the most part. The
rape does feel like its toss in from what I remember but it also kinda falls in tone with the setting.
However there are other silly things that bother me when I read the manga such as the (disclaimer this is spoiling other things beside what was mention above)
Russian, USA, Chinese (?) spec opes battle
Still give it a chance since it was a good read.

Not reading the spoilers, but if it was a good read, hopefully it's a good show too then.

Also did a Google search for the adorable stuff, was it about Kanamemo? It looked like a good ecchi show, it's actually been on my list for a while, ever since I saw Softenni.

I'm going to watch this out of morbid curiosity. Right out of the first episode it's already broken the basic rules of Woof as to entertain me:

1. If you're gonna have a little sister, don't make her be annoying or way too affectionate. Nobody in Japan knows what a real little sister is like.

2. If you're gonna have people with superpowers, don't let there be a special school for the specials.

3. Why are only teenagers magical?

The biggest upside of this whole show was the Ledouche clone of a protagonist. He might be able to carry the show as long as the annoying little sister is the one that dies at one point. Because we all know somebody is gonna die and they'll have like a 4 minute scene of suffering. For now I'll keep watching as I really want to see where the KEY shift happens and everything goes to shit

Is that Drosselmeyer? Even though the silouhette has the cape, I'm suspecting that it isn't - we've seen him observing the world without being inside it, only entering when he needs to directly talk to someone. If he wanted to watch Fakir he wouldn't need to be inside the world to do it, so it must be someone or something else. Very creepy imagery nonetheless, and a very good example of something this show does very well; putting things that make you do a double take into otherwise uneventful scenes, like earlier on when
Edel was revealed to be a puppet in episode nine.

It's annoying me that the show has returned to the "heart shard of the week" format, except this time it isn't heart shards, it's
attempted heart sacrifices!
While I'm not going to try and argue that the story as a whole is predictable because of this, on an episode by episode basis the show has become cyclical again:
Kraehe or Mytho try to steal someone's heart, Tutu comes along and saves them in a nick of time, rinse and repeat for the next episode.
I'm entering the last third of the show and everything's still moving at a glacial pace and it feels like it shouldn't be given that the protagonists are now effectively on a time limit to
save Mytho from being completely overtaken by the raven's blood. I mean, Fakir's just been sat in a library researching for the last few episodes! Why is there no real sense of urgency?
I'm sure that it'll pick up again sooner or later, since that's what happened in the first half, but it irks me that the past few episodes don't seem to have contributed much to the story as a whole - the approach they took in the first half worked there because Tutu could essentially gather the shards at her own pace. Certainly at the start there was no real threat, and there was no pressure to get all the shards back now. This doesn't work here when it has been explicitly stated that if they take too long
Mytho will be beyond saving.

Dragon Ball Super 1
Loved it. OP and ED are kind of weak but I'm sure they'll grow on me. Mr Satan was also in top form. So often I've felt he was just a raging asshole and at first, years ago, his introduction into the Dragon Ball world felt like a huge negative. As his self awareness has increased and he gained an actual conscience though he's become a better and better character. Lots of great humour throughout though the Master Roshi bit did nothing for me. Looking forward to seeing where this will go and FUCK Toei and Funi for making us rely on REDACTED

Also what the fuck is Gohan studying for? Doesn't seem to be a medical doctor or a lawyer. A Historian? Scientific Researcher (and of what)?

In regards to that, I just read on reddit that the SAO anime will keep getting produced as long as there's also LN material.

So, more creepy rapey guys incoming!

Maybe in later books he learns how to write contemptible villains and actually strong female characters without throwing rape and rapey elements around like they are candy?

The background art for this show is so good. I was hyped for this series before it aired but now I'm officially really hyped. The fact the setting has a Aztec influence is really nice. I mean there aren't many anime that have a Aztec sort of setting. The OST is great and fits accordingly to the anime. There was a bit of infodumping and set up but it really didn't negatively affect this show. From's Ocean's impression the series plot/conflict won't start until the end of episode 2. I don't find it bad in any way because it shows that the staff isn't trying to rush anything but going at a good pace even if it seems slow.

I have to give props to Studio Passione because they've definitely learned their lessons from Railwars. Plus the Director did Spice and Wolf and the script writer was the one who did Horizon. So this series is definitely shaping up to be good if the staff doesn't screw up later on.

Well at least there's no sign of any creepy sibling love so far, so that's something.

Oh wait is Gate going to be a military action fantasy HAREM show? Why did nobody warn me of this?

It's not the main part of it, but yeah the author is establishing some relations between secondary characters while leaving the MC and the three girls 'free' and interacting more and more between themselves, and admiring him more and more. One of them already proposed a bit of action but they were interrupted. For now
elf and gothloli are winning, mage is in last position.

So Ushio to Tora is only 2 cours? That's disappointing. A 10 volume series like Parasyte can be compressed into that, but not a 33 volume one :(

Hopefully if it does well, we'll get more, which could in turn pave the way for more Fujita adaptations. A Karakuri Circus anime would be amazing.

I think it is 3 cour and if what I saw on twitter was accurate, the manga author is helping supervise it and asked for a lot of extraneous stuff to be cut out so it can be finished right.

Sounds promising

Ushio & Tora 1

Pretty excellent so far, I like how even without knowing it's a 90's manga you can just look at it and know it's an older series based upon the art style. Liked the comedy and the action no wonder people were saying this was a future Toonami show once Sentai announced they had licensed it.

Gate ep.1
Ok, that was a pretty damn good intro episode. The animation looked good, the OP was really good and MC seemes prerty cool and even has a spin, which was good right away. This is a definite follow to see how it goes..

One nitpick, why did they make the US President white? Clearly Obama is African American, just sayin'. This will be a good Danmachi replacement for summer.

The Aztec/Mayian setting is the most interesting part of a predictable anime so far. The animation is great for the battles and I enjoyed how inventive he was during it. It seems like it'll be just another quest to death a generic demon god so I don't expect much. It was still decent but I don't expect anything memorable from this anime in general.
My main complaint is why she put on bunny ears whe she looked better without them.

Sorry, can't do. Don't you see the previous page? So many otakus love it that it would be like leaving money on the table!

=( I really don't want her to die at all, live Ayumi, live, you're super cute and amazing!! <3

If Miyazaki had a gun to his head, would you pull the trigger? You monsters. Anime isn't worth saving. Shut it down. SHUT IT DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWN.

So basically... Woof really liked it. :p

So what you're saying is there is a chance for you then..

Woof didn't completely hate it, but be warned that it'll likely be a completely inoffensive anime that I won't remember within a season.

Start a habit, you will never know when they would replace something NSFW and get you banned.

Yeah I never trust direct linking. Always upload first!

You don't need to watch more than 1 or 2 anime every season anyway.

Backlog watching is the superior way of consuming anime. Better BD version, uncensored and you can watch it at your own pace. Not that anime would ever reach the level of Empire, Gotham or Flash.

Fully agree! Also makes it possible to marathon things instead of hanging on the next episode. It requires some patience obviously.

Hnnnnnnnngh
Kinmoza is everything great about moe~

Gate the LN series started in 2006 before Obama was elected president I don't really think that's an issue.

There's more to it than that.

It's more of a mystery adventure. Like what Bass said it won't just be a straight up go kill the Demon plot.

The series at least is going to have some kind of mystery element to it considering there are 7 of these brave of the 6 flowers which I think will help it from being just a straight up group of heroes go kill the demon plot.

Oniiiii-san!

Yes, she was a cutie, she just needs to be less annoying and not speak in the 3rd person, lol.

That makes sense if they were sticking with the original LN artwork.

Good enough, but you never know, Angel Beats was 1 ceor and has made a big impression in people. Hopefully, it does something special and lots of people talk about it so I didn't waste my time with the OT, lol.

I'd hope so. The plot just sounds like something I've already seen so I hope it's more complex. The show was entertaining so I'll stick with it.

...Is Mytho going to
steal Kraehe's heart and offer it up as a sacrifice? The wording he used when she was asking her "prince of the crows" to come back was the start of the phrase he uses to put people into a trance ("love me and only me, regard all others with hatred.")
I think that Kraehe is going to meet a tragic fate, perhaps
dying with nobodies love, not even her father's?
At the very least it's been obvious for a few episodes that Kraehe cannot
control Mytho's Raven form anymore, so to me it stands to reason that he's going to overpower her soon and remove her from the picture.
Maybe we'll even get a shot mirroring
Kraehe tearing Mytho's heart shard out of his chest, but with Kraehe getting her heart pulled out instead.
