Video Of Kentucky Clerk Denying Same-Sex Couple Marriage License After Cops Called Goes Viral

http://www.thenewcivilrightsmovemen...marriage_license_after_cops_called_goes_viral

The depths of hate, homophobia, and religious indignation were on full display Monday when David Vincent Moore and his fiancé went to their local county courthouse to request a marriage license.

They clearly have been denied before, so this time they brought someone to film the event, and the result is stunning.

After waiting over 10 minutes in the Rowan County, Kentucky courthouse, a police officer is summoned and then allows the couple to approach the clerk's counter. They are told the clerk is "busy," but when she finally appears she demands they stop recording – despite the fact that they have a legal right to do so.

The clerk, Kim Davis, is being sued by the ACLU for refusing to carry out her duties of issuing marriage licenses. She is being represented, of course, by Liberty Counsel.

Moore in the video shows Davis a letter from Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear directing all clerks to comply with the Supreme Court same-sex marriage decision, as well as the complete Supreme Court ruling.

Why do they even attempt this dumb shit? Don't they realize that saying "stop recording" to a camera that is already recording only solidifies the fact that the camera holder is going to keep recording? And it's blatant evidence that the person saying "stop recording" is clearly doing illegal shit and knows it.

It's such an obvious admission of guilt.

I don't know why the Supervisors are continuing to allow this to happen. Eventually it will come back on the Supervisor for knowingly allowing peoples rights to continue being violated. The clerk should be fired or reassigned to another department(should be fired). The Supervisor has vicarious liability in letting this shit continue. It's happening all over the place and its a known issue.

My ultra Christian friends on Facebook post shit about this new Christian uprising movement that they are trying to rally people to get behind. A call to arms almost. Craziness.

The best thing about this story is it will not end well for her...the worst thing about this story is she will probably get some sort of financial support for her stupid beliefs....

The way they see it, they'd rather be guilty in the courts of man than guilty in the eyes of the LORD.

If they reeeeallllly want to keep this issue in the news into Election 2016, I'm all too happy to see it happen. A presidential year electorate isn't going to be very sympathetic to theocrats, and GOP candidates will be asked for their positions on these issues.

Can they just, like, leave or something? Maybe all head south, then secede or something?

Is Liberty Counsel like the ACLU, but for bigots and homophobes?

The solution to this issue seems obvious - do your damn job or quit and take your 'sincerely held beliefs' elsewhere.

I just need to ask

If this girl's so vehement in her belief against gay marriage

Why not just leave her job? She's gonna lose it anyways

She thinks she's doing the right thing by being a hateful bigot, because that's exactly what Jesus taught her to do, you know, when he comforted the lepers and the prostitutes and such.

Okay so what's with Swerve and company?

What the fuck does that guy say?

Does someone crack up laughing at them at the end?

I would be perfectly comfortable with allowing them to have Texas, or Florida, or fuck it, the whole south.

In all seriousness though, this video is truly disgusting. I don't know how these religious types are able to convince themselves that they are so righteous when they clearly have so much hate in their hearts.

It's really disingenuous to imply that Jesus would have been against homophobia. It really galls me when people try to make Christianity look blameless when it comes to the persecution of homosexuals when it's largely responsible for it.

I was not attempting to do that.

Junior, please.
You live in Morehead, Kentucky lady. Whether you like it or not.

Um, she lives in the United States whether she likes it or not. Must have missed something that was on the news recently.

Seriously, I should have guessed shit like this was going to happen. Anyone refusing to process these should be ordered to or lose their job. What a disgrace. Just because you don't like the outcome doesn't mean you don't have to respect the new law.

edit - I just realized you could have been talking about the clerk, and Kentucky as part of the US. My bad.

Its not just the South though, this is a rural issue, not a regional one

Homophobes continuing to fight this battle is pretty ridiculous. It's like Hitler in his bunker as the Russians approach Berlin, they have to know they've already lost but they're still there fighting for this stupid cause.

Why were other people filming the person filming at the end?

Ive seen the same thing happen in a lot of videos. It seems to be the modern-age "adult" (used loosely) equivalent of the shit we used to pull on the playground.

"I'm telling!"
"I'm gunna tell on you first!"
"For what?!"

Kim Davis the person isn't being asked to marry them. Kentucky us marrying them, with Kim Davis as its proxy to provide documents and sign them on behalf of the state, since the state is unable to physically do so. Effectively, the state is incapacitated, and Kim Davis has power of attorney. Her personal beliefs are irrelevant
