The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!
Thanks for the OB advice, fellas. I didn't really hate S2, but I also didn't feel very compelled to watch season 3, but now I think I shall.

How's Complications? I usually check out most of USA shows, but reviews for this one didn't sound very good. On the other hand it's Matt Nix's show and i loved Burn Notice.

If you're not watching Mr. Robot (USA network), I highly recommend it. It's a very taut, smartly written, pulpy hacker conspiracy thriller set in the near future. The writers seem to have a great handle on the computer / hacking side of things, it really feels like it's written by people who experienced this stuff. I can't guarantee the story will go anywhere but so far it's fun. Great visual presentation too. Feels like it was made for a destination that's much less shitty than USA. It also has elements of Fight Club.

The themes are sort of Occupy Wall Street, Anonymous, Hackers, networked society, instability of major institutions, social networks, mental health, pharmaceuticals. I think if you thought Watch_Dogs could have been conceptually cool and wanted it to be not shit and then it was shit, you'd want to check this out.

Finally, it's already renewed for a second season.

I'm thinking about making a thread sometime soon to recommend it, Unreal, Catastrophe, and maybe a few other shows. I had hoped to watch Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell before doing it.

Amazon is making a Zelda Fitzgerald TV show called 'Zelda' - that's not the same show everyone was thinking was going to be based on "The Legend of Zelda", is it? XD

Thanks. I'd been seriously thinking about watching that, aware of the initially positive reception, but wasn't sure if it held up past the pilot.

Do it! More people need to be made aware of UnReal and especially Catastrophe. I'm also curious to see what other hidden gems you think are worth recommending.

Yeah, Mr. Robot is great. I watched all four aired episodes over the weekend. I'm not sure why it took me so long to start it since the reviews have pretty much all been glowing.

I checked out the Catastrophe pilot since it was mentioned in here and really liked it. I don't have Prime though. One of these days I'm going to have to break down and get it.

When talking about lesser known shows, i will always mention Kingdom. It's so fucking good. Seriously. watch it. Frank Grillo and Jonathan Tucker are killing it.

Speaking of lesser known shows, has anyone here seen Fortitude? I had never even heard of it until a Vox article compared it to Hannibal in terms of gruesomeness, so of course now I'm obliged to check it out.

It was Sky's big entrance into the "serious TV" market in the UK and cost $50 to make.

Months after it aired I still have mixed feeling about it. The setting and cinematography are incredible and some of the performances are brilliant , but it had some pacing issues and the story is pretty weird.

It's definitely worth a watch , and it's getting a second season as well.

Apparently Tut is doing well for Spike. It looks like there's still room for more trashy historical/fantasy epics. Too bad about Hieroglyph. lol

so whats the word on True Detective? the internet is bashing it but is that reflected in the ratings? does HBO even have ratings or is it like netflix?

and any word on renewal?

I felt it was very atmospheric, different, and visually interesting, but lost some interest by about half-way through the season, personally.

Yeah, second half went a little off the rails in a bad way. I'd say it's worth watching for Stanley Tucci's performance alone though.

HBO's stable of shows is pretty light right now (too much in development, not enough on the air) plus the ratings for TD S2 have been pretty good. It will be renewed in spite of the poor critical and general reaction to the second season. Yes, we do receive some limited information about how HBO and other pay cable shows are performing, though their model for renewal is different because they're subscription services.

I'd really love to see more period shows set in unexplored (for TV) settings, so hopefully the (so far) success of Tut helps to facilitate that.

In terms of live viewers (which only represents a small piece of the pie), season 2 is averaging 2.72 million per episode so far. For comparison, the first 5 episodes of season 1 averaged 2.03 million viewers.

With the Mr. Robot talk...is anyone else having problems watching USA Network shows online? Their website won't play episodes for me because my flash is supposedly out of date (it's not) and nothing I do fixes it. Hulu just redirects to USA Network last time I checked. Is there any other option?
Yeah I already asked this once but I won't ask again, sorry.

Are you using Firefox? You have to add the site as an exception when it prompts you.

Ad block messes with videos sometimes.

So I just saw that there's a British version of King of the Nerds hosted by Charlie Brooker's wife, Konnie Huq. I take it he won't be shitting on it if Screenwipe ever comes back. lol

I remember him saying doing screenwipe became much harder because when he would meet people off shows like X Factor they were really nice.

You know, I tried this on Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer, and I would turn off adblock on both, and don't have adblock on IE period, but it wouldn't work. BUT I got a new adblock on Firefox in the past week and I turned that off and ...now the video player works. I always turn off adblock for these sorts of websites anyway, so that's just so weird... Ugh but it's been WEEKS and the damn thing finally works so thanks!

I guess it's just like that internet thing. You can say George Lucas sucks on a message board, but if you met him, you'd still probably still turn into a fanboy.

Huh. I had no idea Playing House (that Lennon Parham, Jessica St. Clair show) got renewed for a second season. I quit watching midway because I figured it was deader than dead, and because it wasn't that amazing. Guess I should catch up.

I wasn't surprised at all to hear this given how long the season has been delayed, plus the fact that Starz has never had a show go beyond three seasons. I guess Outlander will be the one to break that trend.

Spartacus!

Blood and Sand
Gods of the Arena
Vengeance
War of the Damned

But I think Power will get to season 4 before Outlander does, just by virtue of airing earlier in the year.
