Anything new?

It's that time again...

For SFIV back a couple years, Gief was my main and I used Evil Ryu as my secondary in super since only naps was using him lol.

When I want to play a little more freely in marvel, I pick wesker instead of wolverine.

now i remember.

I was a young kid fresh off the boat, and my school gave away some comics for christmas.

i got his crappy comics as my surprise present.

even as i kid i thought to myself "holy crap! i might not know a lot of english, but i can tell this character sucks!"

Censorship game in that show is on point. Ep2 had a shot in it I was thinking for sure wouldn't be shown and I was wrong though.

I need to watch it. The manga is phenomenal, but I don't see how it could be done justice in animated form

I might get one of those FC pads. Just need a quick fix for playing beta and Ultra on PS4.

I actually ordered one of these tonight myself to go along with the Hitbox. I want to give it a shot as I do like playing on pad for some fighters, but it also looks like it'll be decent for some other 2D games if I wind up using the Hitbox full time. Plus it'll be a better on-hand pad for SFV beta (until Hitbox gets around to making a PS4 version).

I just got the Hori FC4. Holy shit, this is so much better than the Dualshock 4.

I think the FC4's face buttons are too big to use with your thumb, makes it hard to hit multiple buttons. It's great for claw style but I'm probably gonna stick with the DS4 for SF5.

a low level Dan just took a shitload of my player points

dat tatsu pressure tho fml. I have more trouble against Dan than Ryu or any other shoto smh

I think the dpad on the FC4 makes it worth it for me. I hate the Dualshock 4 pad. Hell, I hate it in all Dualshocks.

I don't mind the pad, but I get the complaints. The Dualshock controllers are probably my overall favorite, but it's not like the competition has been fierce over the years.

Slightly off-topic but hilarious if anyone's bored right now.

Aris is streaming Silent Hill 2 and he set his donation alert to Tom Brady yelling "CHARACTER!!!" and it scared the shit out of him two or three times already.

I'm fucking dying.

Silent Hill is one game that needs a remake or proper sequel.

I can't get scared of any game anymore thanks to PT. Others just don't compare.

This is god damn hilarious. When the hell did Tom Brady yell this so loud lol

I haven't got a ps4 stick yet. Still debating what to buy or just get a xb1 dual mod.

I have real issues with the feel of the shoulder buttons on the ds4. Plus the dpad feels worse than ds3 somehow (still good though). Buttons are still nice.

I really dislike the dpad on the xb1 controller and how small it is. Better than 360 dpad i guess.

Should have a stick by sf5 launch i would hope though.

Yeah my DS4 shoulder buttons are starting to get bad. They get stuck pretty easily. Trying to decide if I should just get a ps4 stick now or wait. I might ask for the Hori as a bday gift without expecting to actually get it from my parents lol. Might as well try since I can't think of anything else I legitimately want

The problem with ranking points is that I never want to fight anymore once I have a funny number.

I stopped for a while when my PP was 895 and now that my Ken BP is 3003 I want to stop again.

It is a crazy thought, but if Sony and Capcom are sponsoring Evo hard next year for SFV, they probably will ask the TOs to kill USF4 to funnel all attention for the new fighter.

I suspect this announcement will be at Capcom Cup 2015, with it being the swansong tournament for SF4, with the 2016 tour starting with FR19 featuring SFV.

SF4 would then just move to non-CapCup tournies or side events like Marvel. It's not gonna die easy.

I hope Marvel does NOT return next year.

Just so I can see the meltdowns.

Rather see Smash made just Smash 4- no more Melee. Would be even bigger meltdowns.

That said: my prediction: SFV, Tekken 7 (if out, and I think it will be), MKX, GG Xrd whatever current version is, BB, KI, Smash 4

-only games that get publisher pot bonuses and are current gen will be in. Wiz will be Seth Rollins level credible after this, but I suspect EVO's going to fully go in this direction.

Why do you want to take fun away from thousands of people (not to mentioned the tens to hundreds of thousands watching)?

Smash Melee permanently buried Skullgirls' chance at EVO, but if there were a single game I'd pick to do so it'd be Melee every single time. The game's player base is as enduring as the game itself and that is no simple feat.

At the same time, it would be weird to run 2 Smash games for the rest of this generation.

They have APEX. There's little crossover between Smash and the other games, and I think EVO is growing too big. Eliminating at least one Smash game would help deal with the growth of SFV. If one Smash game is going to be eliminated, it's Melee, because Evo will pay to keep 4 in. (and I'd argue APEX should pull FGC games from APEX if APEX got overcrowded)

I'm not going to say Smash isn't worthy of an EVO spot- it is. It's the game that could survive being cut from EVO the easiest, it runs on a console used for nothing else, so it's a logistical issue, and the low amount of crossover means that most of the folks who would still show up to EVO wouldn't miss it much. I also think EVO could get overcrowded next year if SFV grows as much as I expect- something will have to give. I don't think EVO can get much bigger and remain a viable 3 day event.

EVO is at its core, a Capcom event. The other games that come in are games that SF fans would care to watch.
I'd suggest EVO attendees would watch Skullgirls over either Smash game (not counting those who showed up for Smash of course)

Whatever gets the numbers and viewers.

Melee and Sm4sh players might end up trying new fighters down the road as more fighters show up over the next few years. I'd say it's worth it to keep them around. SFV will be bigger than SF4, but what happens if Tekken 7 grows, MKX has increases in growth, or ASW finally gets their act together overseas and Anime numbers swell? EVO is going to grow whether or not it involves specialized older fighters like Melee. Better to prepare for the long haul instead of dumping perfectly good games and audiences overboard.

Also, SG and Darkstalkers will never be anything more than a sideshow at EVO. Let at least one of my top three games have the spotlight. :(

That's a reasonable point, that said I think Melee players have had 15 years of games to try- if they were going to do it, they would have done it by now.

Tekken 7 isn't going to grow. Arcsys could get their act together- but unlikely. It's not a question of game quality, but their delayed console releases and bungling of the US market hurts their games heavily in the US. MKX I think has peaked.

Even seen Tekken fans putting Namco on blast for mismanagement of the franchise in this regard.

Out of those fifteen years Melee has only had a couple where it's been treated like the great fighting game and passionate audience it is. It's like saying the class nerd had a perfectly good chance at becoming one of the popular kids despite being shoved in a locker ever other day.

Growth is also a mysterious thing. Both of Melee's numbers (stream and tournament participation) grew despite Sm4sh being added to the lineup while SF4 had a massive increase in stream numbers and one of it's best years ever in terms of participation despite SFV being right around the corner. You never know what the future holds, especially when it involves multi-million dollar companies and brands they want to grow.
