If this KS fails, do they launch another one even though they already announced it's coming out anyway? I bet they do.

This guy went from "hell yeah! Megaman's savior!" to greedy, morally questionable, opaque, literally Hitler, deceiving businessman.

lol.

Additionally, they're basically just writing the entire kickstarter off now.

There's no way it hits $800k in four days. They can't touch any of the money without hitting that goal. So this is just them admitting "This is a mistake but we had a contingency plan in case this fails."

Which, uh, I'm not sure any lessons were learned here.

Nah good for them I guess, the more games the better.
I hope it turns out to be a good game, they have my attention.

Well, the director was responsible for Tron Bonne, so it should be fantastic. It really seems that Inafune's involvement has really become a negative for the project in terms of public perception.

Yeah what the fuck?

The game is releasing until 2017. That about says it all for the Wii U version.

I really, really doubt this was always the plan.

Yeah.

I'm torn 50/50 between "Let's just make this Kickstarter and people will throw money at us!" and "This project will already happen due to these funds this company gave us, but let's just make a Kickstarter campaign full of bizarre stretch goals and dry those suckers dry anyway!", though.

Why even keep the Kickstarter up? They're not going to reach their funding goal, especially since I suspect backers will pull out their pledges en masse once they see this news, so they're not going to get any money from it anyway.

So instead of Infanue rethinking his strategy with the game and it's presentation with the Kickstarter completely failing, it's gonna carry on the same and be completely fucking shit?

It's not unheard of (Monster Boy, Citizens of Earth, and a few others) but all of the other "picked up by publishers" games have cancelled their KS after being picked up (or already failed).

This is not unusual. Most of famous KS have external funds.
However, everything abou this game is shady as fuck and I hope everyone pulls their money out of this campaign

While its not unusual for a KS to have external funding,it is unusual for a KS to basically change from a means to fund the initial game so its at a point where they can get external funding/Publisher support, to a game thats being funded anyway and the KS is now the extra support....

The whole Kickstarter campagin for this has been an absolute shit show.

Except this one isn't cancelling their kickstarter....

You don't get millions in funding without giving something major up, at the very least huge chunks of the royalties (probably needing to be repaid in full before Comcept sees anything).

People shouldn't view this as shady, I'm sure they much would have preferred an enthusiastic crowd funding method but you gotta do what you gotta do and this is a good fallback, hope the game is awesome.

Also interesting to see Fuze support cited as the reason for the PS4/XBone port, what's their angle with that? Fuze is known for making a new console for the Chinese market and partnering with tons of devs to bring their games to the platform.

This is seems incredibly wack to spring on people with 4 days to go. This is just gonna confuse everyone (God knows I'm confused).

I wonder if this will lead to more backers who are confident that at least SOMETHING will be made, or will it lead to less because "fuck it, you're already getting money from somewhere". In any case, I think when this is all said and done someone could have a field day writing a post-mortem about this Kickstarter. I never backed it, but I can't say it didn't give me plenty of reasons to keep my eyes peeled to it.

This is hilarious because this was posted yesterday:

Someone told me they thought I was being sarcastic! LOL.

I would never give this guy a red cent, and he doesn't need it either. Sorry. I'm sure I'm wrong for some reason.

So, they make Chinese game consoles?

Not exactly a vote of confidence.
The website has an English version, you can switch it in the top right. Do it and go to the products page and prepare to laugh your ass off. There's a "story" thing where someone who I'm guessing is the CEO says he was upset by the ban of game consoles in China and wants to release his own with "real" games on it and disparages the advent of mobile games.

Getting external funding based on a successful Kickstarter is common to the point of being mundane.

Getting external funding based on a failed Kickstarter? The mind boggles.

How is it lazy? I give Inafune credit for pulling out a publishing deal like a good businessman would when he sees that the kickstarter most likely wasn't going to get funded.

Yeah. Plenty of kickstarters are there purely for getting more content at times with the most well known example being Divinity: Original Sin I believe. At this point, I'm honestly just glad we're getting the game.

Apparently, Inafune is really, really good at negotiations.

Well, Inafune proved me wrong, he really was serious about making this game. And he got dem biz moves.

I don't know how to feel about this business right now. I think, at the very least, they should immediately cancel the current Kickstarter. That's what literally every KS game that has found funding in the middle of its campaign done.

If they really want to play the KS game, they should launch a new one when they have a real game to show. The purpose of the new kickstarter would be to expand the content of a guaranteed game and for people to have a chance to get the game at discounted price, along with getting proper goodies. No more of this paying $79 for a physical release garbage. I think they would fare much better. At this point, why would anyone pledge for this? There's four days left and they've have to completely restructure everything. This won't make anyone pledge. Certainly not me.

Businessman pulling in funds from outside sources because he failed to extract them from fans. Shocking.

At least fans won't wind up out of their money.

The Kickstarter campaign is going 100% towards more content! Consider your pledge a contribution to stretch goals from here on out.

Exactly what are those stretch goals? We're sorry to say that will have to wait a little while longer!

Tell me this isn't some of the shadiest shit ever pulled by a major game Kickstarter.

Wait...I am little confused here. Originally, the plain for them was use the Kalkanon Incident for the Kickstarter and the 'full' game they wanted to do unique for the Kickstarter.

So, does this mean that the Kickstarter game will be coming out first through this publisher and the full game they had in the plans will still be coming but come out latter and/or be rolled into the Kalkanon Incident.

At least Concept crawled out of the hole they dug for themselves with the Kickstarter (with it not looking like it will hit funding) and the game is coming :). I really love the look, style and ideas behind the Legends series, so a similar game like that will be fantastic to see come to reality :D.

Hope that the game will be a great one and that Red Ash is the end of Inafune Kickstarters; its clear that he can work with publishers for games and products, so they don't need to use the Kickstarter platform for future games.

So he got money from a publisher, but he still managed to keep the IP rights? I gotta hand it to Inafune, he is one hell of a businessman.

people pretending that this wasn't the plan all along. Inafune is a businessman who is preying on peoples nostalgia etc.

Im happy this got funded, cuz no way in hell did they show anything to the public that should have been funded, especially up against the Yooka Laylee kickstarter.
