Horizon: Zero Dawn will be an early 2017 title according to german journalist

The game's release date will be announced as "Fall 2016", but will ultimately slip to "Spring 2017," so we might as well just get it out of the way now,

Oh for fucks sake I didn't expect this to get delayed until next year. Why does every Sony first party game get delayed this gen?

I should also mention, in the interview they talked about NeoGaf and that it was the first source of the leaked pictures. Also, we know they're here, I am sure they will clarify this, hopefully.

I really hope not. Sony has taken their time releasing games this generation but im hoping 2016 is the year. Uncharted, Persona, plus Horizon would be great for me. The Last Guardian as well.

Why are people so "concerned" that the game is delayed?!

And isn't even a delay from 2015 to 2016, this is a game that it's at least 1.5 year away.

Let's wait for at least a official confirmation or more evidence (as the information about the "delay" isn't even documented on video).

They just had a live gameplay presentation less than 2 months ago.

Sure, the game might get delayed, but i don't think they would commit to a new date this soon.

Edit: Here's the part where he talks about the leaks here on GAF:

Yeah there was a shoutout to neogaf by the GG developer.
Also, when the interview was over, you could still hear him say "Did i say anything that might get me in trouble?" :D
But nope, he didn't

Sony need to be doing everything in their power to have that out by Christmas next year considering MS's lineup for end of 2016 as is (Crackdown 3, Halo Wars 2, Scalebound, Forza Horizon 3 assumingly).

That's not really a terrifying lineup if you're the competition. It's a *good* lineup, but, hardly any of those are system sellers.

Expecting any game that does not have a definite exact date to be released exactly when you expect it to means you will be constantly annoyed with delays

Was there an official announcement that this was a 2016 title anyway?

I only watched the GG interview after E3 that Hursts slipped and mentioned a 2016 release.

I hate when publishers lie about release windows and end up "delaying" games. I really hope that's not the case here. I don't think Sony has done that before, at least not in an obvious way like Ubisoft.

Yeah this reminds me of time time my mom lied about my little brother's due date. I can't believe the birth was delayed. Really pissed me off and I haven't trusted my mom since. I also lost all hype for my brother, can't be bothered with him now.

Not surprised an open world game in just two years is asking a lot.

Didn't someone from GG say they've been working on Horizon since Killzone 3? Half worked on Horizon and the other half worked on Killzone: Shadow Fall or something like that. So I think a 2016 release is still possible and Killzone 3 came out in 2011. So that's much more than 2 years.

In the interview there's some information about the development, too

Considering the scope of the game, not exactly surprising if it turns out to be true.

I still say 2016 for now until I hear otherwise, since it has already been in development for some time.

And why are people so sure that Crackdown, Scalebound and Halo Wars 2 are undoubtedly releasing next year, when what we saw about those two games is equal or less of what we saw of Horizon?

And they don't have exact dates either....

This dev in the interview said that the game just entered full production after Shadowfall launched, in the beginning of 2014 - https://youtu.be/W4FHRRhON24?t=671

Maybe because theres no need to rush, they can take their time and make the best game possible.
Well obviously this is what needs to be done given what happened last year. But still, Sony should stop announcing release windows when they know they can't hit them.

I've been waiting for the delay announcement for this game but I didn't expect the announcement until next year. If they're already delaying the game until 2017 then it's likely further behind than many of us thought.

Why not just give them the time they need to make it the best game possible. I wouldn't want the new IP to ship in an unpolished condition just so that they can compete...
Besides, they already have plenty for next year...God of War and GT7 are good possibilities, and they have dreams, uncharted, TLG, street fighter, NMS, ect....
I am not trying to compare lineups, but just saying that from a first party standpoint they should be solid that they don't need to rush this new IP.
And besides, the PS4 is gonna sell well regardless of what exclusives are on the competition's platform.

I hope this isn't true. This game has been in development since 2011, I hope it doesn't get delayed. I wanna be fighting robot dinos in holiday 2016!

Ohhh okay that makes sense, thanks you guys! :)

You're welcome =]

And everyone that is interested in the game should watch this interview, it's really good.

Lot's of small info about the game and the development

Why does EVERYTHING have to be in response to what competition is doing? Sony needs to have a balanced release of games that sell PS4's period. You don't worry about competitors lineup versus putting out quality products.

That isn't even remotely the same thing. Try again.

Sony now says "aiming/targeting" for a lot of things after that guy tried to sue them over Killzone's resolution.
Can't blame them, honestly. Just look at the shit ND got from some people for dropping the frame rate of Uncharted 4 to 30FPS even after they said they were just "targeting" 60FPS.

They are working on this for 3 and a half years already. If it comes out holiday 2016, it would be 5 years in the making

Good. Take your time and get it right. Everyone wanting you to rush it will just complain about the incomplete game you'd release anyway.

While there is never any guarantee a game will make a release date these days, the fact they actually showed off real gameplay when they announced it and it already looks very polished, is a good sign that it will hopefully make 2016.

Any sort of delay will be beneficial for the final project. If they feel as if they need to give this game more dev time along with time to develop a marketing campaign for maximum exposure I would rather they take their time and push out an extremely polished hit so it can develop into a franchise vs. it being a slightly wonky niche title (not assuming this is the case or ultimate outcome). I understand the frustration due to how well it's been received so far, but there are other titles to play in the meantime. I'll sit here and be patient.
