Sony Says It’s ‘Very Likely’ More Remasters Are Coming

If I was Sony, I would do the same as well. Easy money and it's clear there are alot of people who are willing to pay for such a thing. For a guy who played most of last gen games, I am hoping that these remasters will not be just upscaled ports with a higher FPS but have significant changes however, I think most of them won't be as such which is a shame.

In the end, I am looking forward to new IP/sequels which have been very disappointing so far on the PS4. In terms of what is releasing this year for Xbox One there is Rare Replay, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Halo 5 and Forza 6 (I don't know if I am missing anything else). In terms of 2016, both consoles are packed(moreso on Xbox One) with hopefully more stuff announced for PS4 at TGS to make things exciting. Remasters = dull as shit but I guess it's good for those that missed out on PS3/Xbox 360.

Uncharted 4 and Ratchet and Clank were not announced in the last two months.

I didn't even remember Dreams.
So you don't remember Dreams and because of that it doesn't count.

So 3 or 4 games announced in last 2 month are not enough. Even tho there will be more games announcements at Tgs, Paris and psx.

the not enough thing does not make sense. Caring about the density of game announcements (within two months) when the overall amount is nice is stupid.

Pretty sure at this point there are more games announced for PS4 in 2016 than XB1

It's totally not a bad thing.
Noone's asking for double-dipping.
But I'm sure some of them would be good and worth buying for a reasonable price.

Might want to check some release schedules. PS4 has had considerably more exclusives(console or full) this year, and the same will carry over to 2016.

There's not a lot more that I'd want.

Sony's exclusives don't interest me as much as they used to, or as much as Microsoft's. I don't know why.

Still waiting for KZ2 (plus KZ3 if they do a bundle) remaster. PLEASE GG/SONY do this, specially KZ2 with its MP intact. Don't change anything. KZ2 is still one of the best looking game of last gen. I want to see it in 1080/60 on PS4. My wallet is ready.

Why the hell would they remake/remaster this game that barely sold well? It doesn't make sense from a financial standpoint.

I know on this site KZ2 is hailed as one of the best FPS ever (lmao) but it's really not that popular outside of here.

Clearly a bigger majority don't see it that way. That's not to say you're wrong subjectively though, that's just pointing out the reality.

It's way more popular than you think.

Same reason they remastered Tearaway, they can make money off people that didn't have access to the game.

It's a lot more. Lists are frowned upon now so these people can push the false narrative without redress.

Yeah, I just did. (PS4/Xbox One). I guess gamescom excited me too much lol but that is a significant difference, it's weird though that the last exclusive I played was Bloodborne which is why I feel like there is a drought unless you mean indie/PSN games because my whole point was about retail games.

The remasters will be sony exclusives. I would imagine motorstorm trilogy and maybe gran turismo 6.

Demons souls would be nice, but i doubt it with dark souls 3 out so soon and skyrim is up to bethesda. Would love a skyrim remaster in 1080p/ 30fps the most as the ps3 version was a joke.

I came in here to make a sarcastic remark, but yeah Demons' Souls and Gravity Rush would make me break out the wallet for sure. Also would love to see:

Folklore
Patapon 2
Soul Sacrifice Delta
Ico/SotC (yes, again)
Tokyo Jungle

Id be fine with a GT6 remaster to hold me over. PS3 excsluvies still look gorgeous on PS4. God Of War 3 and TLOU blew me away at how great they looked.

Game taste however is not a good reason for "no games" arguments for any console. A japanese game enthusiast would probably consider the xbone a very unappealing console does not mean they can argue is has no games.

It was not just popular on GAF but got critical acclaim. Its sitting at 91% on MC. It was one of the best MP FPS experience last gen. A lot of negativity was due to that E3 trailer and the aftermath. Also some folks didn't like the controls. Its still a million+ seller (no sure whats the LTD sales). I think it can do better as a remaster with controls adjusted to DS4 and 60fps.

Yep, and probably the same again on PS4. Selling 10k copies is probably enough to break even. EDIT: Before any marketing I mean.

And I'd struggle to call it a remaster. It seems a lot more like a reimagining. It's obviously going to play a lot different to the original.

If remasters aren't preventing new games, what is preventing new games? Because Sony's lineup of exclusives for 2015 is practically non-existent.

I wouldn't call Tearaway a remaster though. It's been completely reworked with new areas and Dualshock additions.

For me it's a remake with a lot of extra content. The only way they could have made it work is by reworking it a bit.

I doubt they'll make money from Tearaway.

They might be making money on it but not as much as they expect to I think, I don't see it being a big saler or even having any kind of marketing push a bit like Puppeteer.

Tearaway Unfolded is one of those great remasters though. They are changing/adding enough to it that it feels justifiable to be called a remaster.

I wasn't saying it in a negative way, just providing another exemple.

i love that sony is thinking about the players that came in from 360 ,
But i owned a ps3 with about 200+ games.

It would be super swell if i could play new games :(
