55 days later, Arkham Knight PC is still hopelessly unplayable

I can't believe this happened again.

Not just that a game launched utterly broken, but that it is taking ages to get it into a playable state. They gave us August as the date for the first major patch. They're running out of time.

WB. Say something. Give me an apology gift if you can't give me my game.

;__;

I settled for stuttery 30 fps. Was gonna go back in when the patch hit but it's been way too long.

My favorite part is how Season Pass owners get fuck-all except maybe the hope that eventually we'll get all that DLC in a game that runs better maybe???? Not even a token free game like Ubisoft did with ACU. What a terrible company.

I played and beat it with a GTX 980. It had its issues, but certainly wasn't unplayable. I daresay I actually enjoyed it.

I should add, though, that for those who can't get it to run or whatever, the customer service is deplorable. Shouldn't take this long and WB should be more upfront about rewarding people who have issues and going much further to make this up.

Has it already been 2 months? Time flies.

Man, I really feel for the people that got this and the season pass on PC.

I assume most of us got refunds, dunno about the season pass holders though.

I still think they should do something for everyone regardless of refunds, we all coughed up our hard earned money, spent time installing the game and probably wasted a night or two trying to get the piece of shit to work.

They're definitely working on it. With over 10 different builds being submitted to QA in the last 4 days according to SteamDB, work is definitely being done.

August is barely halfway done, they have plenty of time to roll out a patch and still fall within their deadline.

Fortunately, the game runs fine for me though so perhaps thats why I'm not stressing too much.

I'm not interested in people making excuses for them.

No one is making excuses for them. I doubt anyone feels that they are without blame. People are simply stating that the month is only halfway done and its premature to be insinuate that they'll miss their deadline.

We're only half way through the month and they said not to expect the game to be properly fixed until the holidays.

I gave up on the pc version and will play it on console when it gets into the bargain bins.

A patch is scheduled for August. I doubt it's going to made the game 100% clean but it should help a lot with performance.

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
Can't believe this fuckery went on as long as it is.

It was one of my most anticipate game of the year too. Fucking WB

glad i just played the game instead of waiting for the patch. my own technical hiccups with the game weren't as pronounced as others, but i was definitely seeing some embarrassing performance issues despite playing it on a machine far in excess of the recommended specs.

totally turned me off getting another warner bros published game. for good, even.

the salt in the wound is that i didn't think arkham knight was any good

I mean I was under the impression until the game got "re-released" on PC that the current port would continue to be unplayable trash.

And everyone knows that when a publisher gives a target window, you expect the actual release to be as late as possible. "Coming this Summer"? September 9th. "Out in August"? August 30th. "Out this fall"? December 4.

I'm not interested in people making excuses for them.

Dude they didn't give a day, of course they're gonna try to push it as far as they can. Why would they drop a patch this early into the month when they can realistically get away with releasing it by the end of the month? They obviously needed more dev time, they're gonna grab as much as they can now that they have the chance to.

I ended up caving and buying it on PS4. I got the PC version free with my 970, so I wasn't too pissed off about it.

It was supposed to be a Summer game. One I'd actually have time to play. Now I can't because they can do exactly what you said. So I had to count up the days and remind people how unacceptable this shit is.

I really hope they give the PC users who bought the game early an incentive for waiting this amount of time. Even though it got shit reviews just handing out that Batgirl DLC could make people feel a little bit better because more content.

I gave up on the PC version and just picked it up on PS4. The PS4 version is as amazing as the PC version is shit. Truly shameful on WB's part to treat their PC customers in such a way, especially after the numbers that the previous Arkham games did on PC.

I've got a GTX 970, and the game runs like absolute trash, even with a 30FPS lock. Micro-stuttering, frequent crashes, you name it.

I got my code for free with my Nvidia card, but I really feel for people who bought the base game and the season pass.

People that wait for Steam sales are gonna be rewarded the heaviest with this game, if it ever does get completely fixed. I'm gonna wait until the steam winter sale of 2016 before I even think about touching the PC version of this game.

Pretty much. I refunded the Season Pass since I couldn't refund the game. At least Newegg hooked me up with a free copy of Phantom Pain for the trouble. WB is a terrible publisher, and Rocksteady should be ashamed of themselves.

Didn't have the balls to admit they weren't doing the PC port in-house prior to release, but were very quick to pull the "Well, we didn't do the PC version so it wasn't our fault!" excuse.

well no port/game is 100% clean of performance issues. but we have both Rocksteady and Nvidia engineers trying to undo Iron Galaxy mess and they taking their time too (two months), I have a good feeling about this.

Frankly i just flagged it as a 2016 title in my head, at this point.
It just sits there in my steam library as a reminder of the absolute disaster that went down, but i don't expect to be able to play it before then.

Hopelessly unplayable? :lol

It does have absurdly bad framedrops, but I managed to 100% it just fine.

yeah cause all PCs are the same

I swear there's some sort of defense force on this rather widely reported crapshoot of a port that is just absurd

"yo it worked for me! lol you're wrong"

Well, it seems the season pass sucks pretty hard so far. But the Burton Batmobile track dlc looks good

Huh? I acknowledged that it's a bad port. I think my framerate dropped below 10 during some of the batmobile segments.

However, this doesn't mean that it's "hopelessly unplayable".

I got it with my 970 so I can't. I'm still entitled to my game though.

Ah, I understand. Especially if that game swayed you into buying the 970.

I got my copy through GMG. Returned it as soon as GMG allowed me to. But...
Steam never revoked my license... I still technically "own" the game despite getting my money back. I'm so guilt-ridden.

Well they announced their plans for the patch and haven't missed the date yet so it's hard to get more upset knowing those restrictions haven't been crossed.

For some people, it really is even after attempting tweaks and fixes. It's not just a matter of FPS dropping, it's the game hitching and stuttering so badly and so frequently any attempt at playing it is a frustrating experience.

I am interested that everyone has so happily jumped on to the MGSV PC Day One bandwagon for Sept 1st

So many issues that suggest that might not go well

Really seems that it would be worth waiting a while (a few days at least) to see how that one plays out.

To me, that absolutely is unplayable. I'm not gonna sit through 20+ hours of stuttering and frame drops.

I have the feeling that fixing the game is not going anywhere near as difficult of a task than reintroducing the PC version. What could they do to make people forget about this mess when they relaunch it sometimes this fall ?

While it's a shame that this game was rushed out the door on PC I'm sure WB's largest regret is releasing *after* Steam implemented refunds.
