The best thing that happened to me and my friends at that age was the older college guys dropping knowledge that it is a numbers game. You say hello, she rebuffs, then you say have a nice day and walk away. Onto the next one.

Schools should start teaching a class for guys on this subject, lol

Or people could just learn to be human beings to each other.

"you had me when you posted that kendrick lamar vid"

"the way you ghosted me.."

Yeesh.

How do you deal with a person who can work themselves up into a rage so suddenly and completely over nothing.

OH man, this is a beautiful mess.

There's an increasingly alarming number of people who never go through the drama phase on their teens, so they can't actually handle rejection. I think this is a product of a lot of things but I like to single out both poor sex ed and the increase of social media into our private lifes which lead to the decrease of sex life.

Oh wow, his twitter feed is amazing right now.

I would bother posting the full extent of my "attack" on @GraceSpelman but she has already played right into my hand so no need

lol

I used to listen to this podcast all the time when I was like 14-16. I think they eventually stopped (and moved to like once a month) post 7th movie? Its such a shame since it was legit awesome for HP fans during all the books and guessing what would happen next. They used go through each chapter.

anyways, that's crazy.

Based on the tweets the guy sounds socially retarded, and in line with a lot of other men you find who spend a lot of time online. He's gone past the "docile loser who wallows in sorrow" level and into "loser who gets aggressive with women" territory.

Another story about him in that OP article, from a different woman:

Since Spelman's tweets started going viral, she says other women have privately messaged her to relay similar experiences they've had with Schoen. Here's one, quoted with permission from the author:

"Hi Grace, I just wanted to add to the numbers who've told you about Ben. I had a similar experience ~8 years ago after meeting him on a book tour he was on w/ the other Mugglenet guys. My friends & I hung out w/ them that night & he hit on me pretty aggressively the whole time. (He was still in high school then.) In the weeks after, he sent me similar Facebook messages to what you received, even after I started ignoring him as they became creepy. I chalked it up to youthful exuberance at the time - I mean, he was a kid from Kansas who likely was away from home for the first time & talking to girls who didn't know him as the chubby kid, but as someone in the Harry Potter "in crowd." (I mean, he had met JK Rowling!) Unfortunately, it didn't seem to be an age/maturity issue. He's just an asshole. Sorry you had to experience this, and thanks for sharing!”

Also,

Schoen is — perhaps a bit ironically — the co-founder of Feminspire, "an online publication featuring a global collection of female voices."

How is this going to end? Because the NO-MAAM gamergate kids are going to take his side, right? And spam her/try to get her fired because they will see nothing wrong in anything he did, and will just continue hating girls....

Yup, it fucking sucks. With the hoped-for result of women being more hesitant to call dudes out on shitty behavior online.

Broken Joystick

At least you can talk. Who are you?
Heh, been watching this all day on Twitter, it's pretty funny. I feel for the Buzzfeed writer though, harassed when a guy just doesn't get it.

Except these guys are clearly clueless. They're clueless because they are entitled. The earlier that entitlement is erased, the better.

Agreed...I would more likely put the reason to parents who never tell their children no, society that tells them that they are all beautiful butterflies, etc, etc but yep...entitlement is the problem

What does he expect here? Like she already has a boyfriend and I'm assuming that she doesn't live near him. Is she supposed to drop everything and run straight into his arms?

The switch from "Hey, I really like you" to "Who do you think you are, bitch" always amazes me. How do the brains of these guys even work.
