Still laughing at calling it 'Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection' as well as having Uncharted 4 beta access. Sony showing Microsoft how to release a remaster collection (Yes I know it's no multi-player which was most likely the reason for the majority of the issues with MCC). Still, solid showing by Bluepoint yet again.

Then why even bring it up?

Damn, this seems to be Bluepoint's most ambitious project yet. Most of their past remasters are only improved in frame rate and resolution, but with this one, it feels more like a remake based on the article. Higher res textures, good level of AF, higher res shadows, better lighting and upgraded character models. And with a resolution increase to 1080p and frame rate boost to 60FPS. Bluepoint really did a wonderful job with this one.

P.S. Great article, darkx10.

I hope they put the motion blur back in. Other than that, this is looking like a new benchmark for remasters, I'm glad this fantastic trilogy is getting the treatment it deserves, looking forward to playing Drake's Fortune in particular, the visual upgrade combined with the 60fps and no tearing will be a treat.

Major kudos to Bluepoint for another job well done and to darkX10 for the article.

They need to get motion blur in there since there's no way it's a locked 60fps across all three games. I also wish they'd give all three games 3D support.

Bluepoint don't get enough praise outside of GAF. Cannot wait to play these again.

Looks amazing.

Too bad Bluepoint didn't handle the Halo remasters.

Have they ever done a game for Microsoft? Titanfall is the closest they came IIRC.

I think what I like the most about all of this is that Bluepoint is slowly making a name for itself, at least among enthusiast circles. They truly are the best port house in the industry. I can't think of many non-Bluepoint crafted remastered that are as quality.

The work they did on PS All Stars Vita was so good. 60FPS, at the highest resolution the Vita screen can muster. The MGS Collection was also fantastic. I really do wish they had done every remaster, but then they'd never get any rest.

Sony, if you're making a Dark Cloud/Rogue Galaxy/Ni No Kuni definitive edition, please hire Bluepoint!

I've replayed the Uncharted games an obscene number of times, but I'm buying this collection day one.

Gow remake had all the improvements as well

Wow. Bluepoint went all out with this collection. The newly added detail is insane. I just really hope they add motion blur to all of the games before this ships.

so are they rerendering the videos to accommodate the new assets? or are they even using videos anymore at all?

i cant imagine that one BR disc could contain the prerendered cutscenes for all 3 games, especially if the videos are 1080/60 now

The big question I have is whether they've improved the actual gameplay in Uncharted 1. If it plays more like the sequels then it will be almost a whole new game.

What's so different about the gameplay in U1? It has more of this "chest-high walls" design than the sequels, but apart from that?

Always very cautious of any changes when games are remastered and I'm really not a fan of remakes that essential turn the games into something different but this is far better than I was hoping for from The Nathan Drake Collection.

If they manage to maintain this quality and consistency throughout the collection then I'd say that this is pretty much the ideal situation for remasters of older games for me. Really surprised to see them redoing the pre-rendered stuff so that it fits in better with the in-game assets but the jump between cut-scene and gameplay is something that they had to get right as Naughty Dog were fantastic at doing that and getting it wrong could really break the immersion.

Can't wait to see a full breakdown of the final release and I'm dying to know how they handled the pre-rendered stuff in this collection.

Watching the Warzone comparison now, is it safe to say that contact shadows/AO were added after that video was made?

This article actually got me hyped for the remaster. If I hadn't already played the Uncharted games to death, I would probably be planning on getting this when I get my PS4. ;)

Gow remake had all the improvements as well
Unless I'm remembering it wrongly, GOW HD Collection only got a boost to 720p and a more stable 60FPS with screen tearing eliminated. Also, 2x MSAA was implemented. Aside from that, I don't remember any other improvements. Please correct me if wrong.

Edit: Wait, are you talking about Gears Of War? If so, that's not even made by Bluepoint, so I'm missing your point.

I hate how this studio "cleans" things up. Looking at that warzone comparison hurts.

Seems like the PS3 version has more grittiness too it. PS4 version looks a little too clean as if the buildings weren't built that long ago.

Those building textures look too flat and the colors look off. The PS4 rooftop is missing the blotchiness of the PS3 version. Hope it's just WIP and not the final textures.

Actually, no, this is a remaster. What DF mean is that it's more than just a 'port' which other recent 'remasters' have been.

The MGS HD collection was pretty standard, too, for the most part. Peace Walker got some special attention as it was originally a PSP game, but 2 and 3 are just simple framerate and resolution boosts (3 unfortunately misses out on certain things from the original and suffers some framerate/slowdown problems).

The Uncharted collection looks like absolutely marvellous work, though. Above and beyond anything Bluepoint's done before.

Yeah, this goes way beyond money grabs like Saints Row and Sleeping Dogs. Nothing has topped GTA5 to me yet though, but this appears to be up there with the likes of Dark Souls 2, Halo, and TLOU. More than the minimal effort.

Cannot wait to get stuck in. All those that are saying they will wait for bargain bin sales because of no multiplayer this is 3 FULL story campains, not half ased FPS campains. Do you not think that is worth $60 of anybodys money?

Bluepoint didn't do Peace Walker HD and the stuff that was ripped out of MGS3 was unfortunate but reasonable: The vampire dream loaded a completely different engine since it was based on another game and Snake vs Ape was an Ape Escape crossover so it had to be taken out to make the game multiplatform.

I believe they also removed the Snake skateboarding thing from MGS2 as well.

besides unnecessary motion control nonsense, all the enemies as super bullet sponges and the end of the game is a terrible QTE.
