Actually an 84 metascore would be perfect.
Fuck that, I want to see critical reviews rather than people so hyperactive over just getting a new Metal Gear. By all means give the game a 10 if it deserves it, but we've all see MGS 4's review fun. I've never disagreed with so many reviews before

If the game deserves it, fine. But you know reviewers will have had their hand hovering over the 10 button this week at even the slightest scent of fan service in this game.

If MGS V doesn't get a 100 Metacritic score after it's all said and done, Kojima shot himself in the foot.

I'm guessing it will land around a 90 average, with lots of 10s but a significant amount of 8s or even lower.
I am really expecting the story and themes (if they're as fucked up as they seem to be hinted at) to rub some the wrong way and affect their outlook on the game. Kojima is a great game designer but I'm not convinced he can handle the "mature" story he's shooting for here. That said, I HOPE he nails it!

MGS4 has a 94 Metacritic.
MGSV looks like the typical "AMAZE GAME YO!"

The Solid series, at least the console entries, have always reviewed in the 90's going all the way back to MGS. So fanservice won't have much to do with it. Although interestingly, MGS3 is the lowest ranking console MGS at 91, even though it's widely viewed as the best entry. MGS sits at 94, MGS2 is at 96, and MGS4 is at 94.

My thoughts as well. Most will agree it's a good game, but the question of its greatness will be divisive.

It can't get perfect scores because Kiefer Sutherland.
Reviewers who finished the game have said to take some reviews with a pinch of salt as they noticed a lot of journos at the event didn't get very far in the time they had.
I still haven't listened to all of ground zeroes tapes..

I mean it's whatever, the critics have had bad taste when it comes to MGS up until this point. MGS1 and 3 are clearly the best in the series but the loony journalists pegged MGS4 and 2 as the greatest thus far.

MGS2 is easily as good as 1 & 3. Easily.
Amazing because most of the general complaints from an MGS game come from either it's long winded cut scenes or convoluted story lol.

You're right. MGS 2 is actually better.
But that's also a part of the reason fans love it.
I consider all Metal Gears equal, with strengths and weaknesses balancing each other out in different ways.
That said, MGS2 is the best.
I think we should all agree that there's not really an objective way to sort out a true ranking of the MGS games. Metal Gear means so many different things to different people.

If it's similar to Peace Walker we'll be fine. I have a feeling most reviewers and fans missed out Peace Walker.
I could say the same about pretty much every Metal Gear Solid game. That's one of the reasons I love the series so much.
