Destiny |OT28| Nolan Beyond

Off topic but I've had the hiccups for 3 days in a row, for the 3rd week in a row (it'll be 3 consecutive days, then gone for 4 days, repeat).

My Enrage timer is getting high and it's non Destiny related.

No matter what I try it doesn't go away for longer than an hour or 2.

Everyone I play destiny with is always "you still have the hiccups?!". Hiccups |OT3| Still There?

Did you try drinking water, one gulp at a time (until you finish the glass)?

do you think throwing knives aren't great in pvp or something? like.. that's really all that needs to be said

if you don't like em, cool. but they're legit.
I'm not for or against them. I said they're hard to get kills with on a consistent basis. If you're a throwing knife pro, that's not the norm. For 99% of people its very rare. I consider myself an above average pvp player and I can't use them.

Great work Drizz! Soooo many first timers the past few weeks especially, pretty incredible stuff :p

Thanks dude! It's been a lot of fun, always enjoy running Skolas w folks. I'm at 65 PoE 35 clears now. That isn't close to my raid completion numbers, but these are full runs (45-60 minutes at least) compared to running sword on Crota in 5 minutes haha.

Skolas can be a serious nightmare with all newbies and the lack of checkpoints is really punishing. Having even one experienced person to give call outs makes a big difference which hopefully translates into an enjoyable experience.

Lol nice work Grim! I'm guessing the top guy on their team was Gunslinger or something, they should have had 2 offensive supers at least. Or maybe they did and the other guy was just bad. Bubble Train is a lot of fun but also feast or famine. Sometimes you have too many orbs and nothing to do with them, still have to get kills somehow.

To me the pricing of Destiny versions makes complete sense (other than $20 for emotes, that part is very silly, imo).

$60 for everything now (other than emotes). Before, to be able to play everything many weeks and months (up to 3) in advanced, it was $80. The emotes are really just a bonus for them.

At least that's the way I thought about it.

Anyone heard from captain science, Dave, and stb? Wondering if they got it done.

Congrats! Sounds like you had a much smoother run then us but we got it done!

I think stb came close to a heart attack along the way but I'm super glad we got him his last triumph. Thanks for checking in earlier!

Glad we could assist in getting a Skolas kill for Berried! It was fun I thought. Had a few wipes but not bad IMO since it was only my 2nd full attempt at it and his first. I at least got a 2nd ship from it, and only 250 points left to finish my cipher.

Nah hommie, you gotta have a mouthful of water, gulp down hard, then have another mouthful, over and over

I just did that now. Wow that made it a lot easier to kill the whole bottle than trying to drink the entire thing as fast as possible. I felt like I was taking shots over and over again haha. The weird thing is it made me have to burp a lot but so far it's working

You're a total life saver if this works!!

I'm guessing it works for you?

Not to mention post patch, it's a lot of fun!! Wiping to wait for heavy synths (or in CE HM days, for everyone to waste their ammo) for each attempt was definitely not fun. If Skolas was the way it was the first month, do you think you'd still be doing this?

step 1: switch to jumper
step 2: equip a hand cannon
step 3: ???
step 4: inb4ocean

For the VIP kills, we just load up patrol and do the VIP missions, right? I did about 6 tonight in the Cosmodrome, but they aren't showing up for some reason... UGH. As if it wasn't already grindy enough.

Oof, good question. Part of me says: as much as I hated the burns I hated HM Scrota with the fiery passion of a thousand suns so it wouldn't be worse than that.

The big problem however is that Skolas: Burn Edition was way more of a gear check than the current Skolas: Good Edition. I've taken Lv33s with non-upgraded weapons, people rocking sub-300 Attack heavies instead of GHorn, using 274 Atk Vision for DPS, etc. Those things would straight up not be possible with Arc or Solar burns. Lots of deaths are manageable currently, but with burns people would die way more frequently and the constant influx of timer-based add spawns means you could never recover.

Changing the add spawns to be Skolas HP-triggered was the most crucial change. Even during Void burn week many newbies I've run would've struggled to stay alive long enough to play out the encounter "as intended" simply due to add overload. It was also just boring and felt random, so wipes would be more discouraging. Now you can see clear improvement each attempt and you feel in control. Groups remain optimistic even after tough wipes, a sign of good encounter design.

It's way too late in the game for me to switch controls at this point. And I main Bladedancer now. :/

I disagree! I switched about 2 months ago, and it was the best decision I've made.

It's easy to start off with it in a nightfall. A couple mess ups goes a long ways to retraining your brain. I can't even remember how to play it on Default anymore (when I remote via Vita I get all confused).

It took a couple nightfalls and a PvP match with bladedancer, to get used to it. First time I popped bladedancer I didn't do anything. Learned quickly. About a week using it to get nearly 100% acclimated. That 2nd week to get fully acclimated, I'd say.

You'd be surprised. I switched after more than 1500 hours of Active time played. Just make peace with the fact that scrubby moments will happen. It doesn't take too long to start feeling comfortable, a couple weeks. I forced myself to keep Jumper during all weekly PvE stuff, then moved to normal Crucible before finally jumping into Trials.

Being able to jump and aim as smoothly as you can with Jumper is just objectively better.

Tried jumper once. Nope, never again. You won't make me change!

It's just RNG if they show up, really aggravating. I would load into Earth patrol, then back to orbit if there wasn't one at the start. Sometimes I'd load 10 instances before getting a VIP.

If there was one at the start, it takes you to the Divide. So I'd kill the VIP then check the Divide patrols since those VIP objectives are in the same place. I'd also check Rocket Yard since it's so close, then back to orbit. It'd be much better if you can do it w a fire team of 2+ to spread out looking for beacons.

Just do 5-10 per day to reduce the pain. It's easily the worst Grimoire grind besides Rumble (for me anyway, supposedly some crazies like Rumble).

That makes sense! I vividly remember the hours of solar burn attempts where we'd be super close the 1st attempt (like 5% health left or less), then the next dozens of attempts would just vary so drastically. Anywhere from only a rocket or 2 fired to a pixel of health. His health remaining in each attempt was essentially RNG haha. Good to hear the great reviews. Progression seems to be the biggest overall factor for most if not all people.

Eh, tried to teach Skolas to a couple of friends but couldn't pass round 4. I know general tricks on mines, but what's the best option for target killing on round 4 without a titan with the helm? Especially for wave 3.

I tried jumper once as well, I couldn't do it. I don't like clicking the sticks for melee, especially when bladedancing. I'd prefer if melee stayed on r1 and grenade moved to x. I just don't know where super should be. Maybe clicking right stick, maybe a d-pad button.

Yeah, I mean I just couldn't get into the Jumper base movements at all. :/
