Well, it's likely to be near 1.5 million rather than 2 million. The latter I only can see it possible, if Nintendo bundles the game.

With DQXI being also on 3DS I don't see it crossing even 1.5 million on PS4. Should be still million seller. Without some kind of miracle XV also of course sells less than XIII. FFVII Remake is the only PS4 title I could see selling more than XIII.

I almost feel like the only PS4 game to outsell FFXIII might be FFVIIr.

I never understand why people have such high expectation for FFVIIr. I don't think it's gonna be that big. Maybe a million but no more than a new mainline DQ or FF game.

We can't jump to this conclusion until FFXV comes out. I'd love to know where people are getting this from aside from the sales of a couple of sequels no one asked for and a HD Port of a 4 years too late PSP game.

FFXV would not start reverse the trend of decline for mainline FF game since FF8, especially in a tougher console environment.

I like those numbers a lot. Bloodborne made it to 250k which is great, Dragon Quest Heroes made it to 350k, Grand Theft Auto over 200k which is pretty good, and The Witcher 3 is over 150k, beautiful.

Despite thinking that Splatoon first month was strange, given the infos we had (unless it really sold lots of download cards at retail, which was one of the possibilities you outlined last month), FE: If sounds about right. Actually, I was expecting a bit less, around 28-30k. 40k is more than what I thought.

According to the latest financial report released by the company, the mega hit game pulled in a whopping US$378 million in sales between April 1st and June 30th.

In other words, Monster Strike made Mixi US$4.2 million per day in that time frame, and the game isn’t showing any signs of weakness.

These numbers translate to annualized sales of US$1.5 billion.

What is especially astonishing about the FY2015 Q1 figures is that:

• Close to 100% of sales should come from Japan alone (in fact, Mixi is currently in the process of closing Monster Strike in China where it already doesn’t accept new user registrations anymore)
• Mixi operated with a 48.6% operating profit margin in the last quarter – and that includes all of its other businesses like ticket sales, photo sharing services, or its eponymous social network
• Japan is home to GungHo Online Entertainment (3765), which operates its own hit Puzzle & Dragons with sales numbers in the same ball park
• Mixi “just” spent around US$21 million in advertising (overall) in the same quarter – or US$230k per day

On an annualized basis, global companies like Supercell generated only slightly more sales last year while spending 4-5 times more per day on advertising: it pays to be the leader in a high-value, largely closed market.

No, Splatoon will rise, but MK8 won't magically stop selling too. Splatoon will slow down after a while, and MK8 will stay an evergreen title and sell a bit every month, like AC on 3DS.

If this happens, it'll be in 2016, and I doubt this will happen for various reasons (won't keep selling at the same rate, userbase, MK8 popularity, bundle, evergreen, etc).
It'll be close, sure, but not above in the end.

1) The Splatoon / Mario Kart userbase is the same, both are on Wii U.
2) There is a stong chance for a Splatoon bundle.
3) Mario Kart 8 popularity is not a reason.

You underestimate too much Splatoon.
Just for know, what's your Mario Kart 8 lifetime prediction?
I already said mine, i believe it will be around >1,600,000, probabily 1.65m or so...

Perhaps PS4 will have more million sellers than the PS3, so that's nice. I thinks it's incredible that the Wii U will have like 4 if not more million sellers. It's only sold like 2.5 million.

The only likely non-3DS million sellers I see this gen are FFXV PS4, DQXI PS4, FFVII PS4, NSMBU, Mario Kart 8, Splatoon and Minecraft Vita. Some other Nintendo games might do it dependings on legs or bundling (Mario Maker, Smash U) but nothing that seems like a safe bet on it's own. I also doubt any other big PS4 games (KH3, RE7, etc) can do it.

Minecraft also has a special deal on psn. If you own either the PS3 version or the vita version then you can buy the other version at a discounted price. I own the PS3 version and I was able to buy the vita version of minecraft for 412 yen. The regular price is just over 2000 yen.
I think there is a similar deal for buying the ps4 version if you already own the PS3 or vita dl version.

MGSV Ground Zeroes has been available for free all month as part of Games with Gold. I downloaded my copy, but haven't tried it out yet. I'm one of the 50k XB1 owners in Japan, heh.

Both will likely continue selling until the Wiii U dies, which by all likelihood won't be that far off. If Splatoon starts slowing down a bit I can see Mario Kart remaining on top simply for its year headstart.

I don't think KH has any history to support such an outlook, and I'd say FF7r has a better shot at selling XIII-2 levels than XIII levels.

Well, I mean the only history with the mainline Kingdom Hearts games is that they both sold over a million in Japan, so I'd say that greatly supports my outlook. I don't think VII will make it to XIII levels, i just think it will cross a million.
