Doesn't even look like Halo.
They haven't got a bloody clue.
SMH...

Actually yeah you're right! I mean, H4 was amazing, right?
Halo 2 was one of the best looking games of its gen.yeah, i feel the same way.
mind you, no halo game has ever been much of a looker [aside from halo 4, and perhaps halo: ce for its time], so i've learned not to get excited about halo graphics much.
looks like halo though, so that's cool.
lmao, hmmI wonder what happens if you groundpound a Hunter.
I think my first pass judgement is that it looks dated. As if the aesthetics of the gaming world have passed Halo by, and adding more detail just chases an unobtainable goal. I loved Halo: Combat Evolved when it was released, and I still believe to this day that it is one of the best games ever created. I just don't think gaming needs any more Halo right now. I feel the franchise could benefit from a rest, let it recharge its batteries and come back with something new.

Man, no way. Halo 5 is the first Halo to bring interesting new ideas to the series since Firefight in ODST. There's no way they should give it a rest when it's looking this good.I think my first pass judgement is that it looks dated. I don't know why people keep saying this when Halo 1, Halo 2 and Halo 4 looked great at the time of their release.yeah, i feel the same way.

It's been 3 years since the last mainline Halo game.

Hasn't aged as well as CE.Halo 2 was one of the best looking games of its gen.
CE & 2 never looked impressive to me at launch, but i wasn't really a console gamer back then either - so my platform of comparison was PC, as opposed to PS2 [which i never got to even touch really], so i should probably excuse myself for a rather huge bias here.
I'd say this vid shows off the visuals well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyGLwQULkvY
It's also doing things on a much larger scale than Black Ops 3. Around the 5 minute mark when they are around water especially looks nice.
Pretty much what I was thinking. Also, the Elites look strange.Looks a bit uninspired. That environment looks like a random multiplayer map.
Every time I read through a halo thread I instantly regret it. I think the screens look great and I'm glad 343 is making Halo their own thing and not just directly copying everything bungie did. The series need to evolve to avoid being stagnant but it seems like a lot of people would be happy playing Halo 2 forever.

Never. That strawman is so easy to thoughtlessly deploy any time you want to dismiss people who know what made the early games so good.I wonder when this statement is going to die off. It's not like Halo: Reach or Halo 4 weren't attempts to evolve the series right? You can have innovation while remaining faithful to the core of the game play. Aside from the ADS, I've been a fan of what they've done. Arena is also once again about equal starts, on map weapons, map control, no random elements. Not wanting perks and sprint and ADS and killstreaks doesn't mean you want Halo 2. Warzone is also a very Halo centric approach to evolving BTB. Let's see how it plays out.

At least the Hunters look good...? I don't know, Halo's art style doesn't really shine until you get into the big outdoor environments. I want to see more of those.
I wonder what happens if you groundpound a Hunter.
Before or after you've depleted its health to almost nothing?
Since you guys ganged up on me and played internet detective last thread, I'll state my opinion again.
Looks very mediocre. The series was a graphical marvel at one point, now its below par visually.
Yep, the "you just want Halo 2 forever" defense is beyond stupid.Never. That strawman is so easy to thoughtlessly deploy any time you want to dismiss people who know what made the early games so good.

Has anyone been able to ground pound a flying vehicle yet? Meaning like at 343, during testing etc.
Halo CE - Yes
Halo 2 - Yes
Halo 3 - No
Halo: Reach - Not really
Halo 4 - Yes
I mean let's not pretend all the games were ridiculous graphics powerhouses. Halo 3 and Reach, as beautiful as they were, were not the best, whereas Halo 4 really used every ounce of the Xbox 360's power and really wowed people again.
This is the first of a new generation of consoles, one where they've decided that 20-25 frames per second game play just won't cut it, so it's 60fps, campaign and multi-player. That requires some sacrifice to visual fidelity. They could've done the same sub-30 fps they've always done and gone for more visual polish but they didn't. Additionally, what games are you comparing to? You're telling me Halo 5 looks below par of other Xbox One shooters on the market?

Those screens could be from any number of generic old corridor shooters.
Sorry guys, don't mean to be that guy, but it breaks my heart to watch 343 do what they're doing to my favourite franchise, and they're not getting enough stick for it.
It doesn't look like Halo to me. It looks like Halo 4.

Halo 4 was garbage
If the alternative has to be Prometheans, then maybe the Covenant should have been the primary antagonists for a few more games. Halo 4's new enemies just aren't nearly as fun to fight. You must have noticed all of their teleporting and hiding and bullet spongey shenanigans. The Covenant use tactics. Forerunners use gimmicks and annoying behaviors.Halo 4 looked pretty Halo to me. Or do you want the only antagonist to be the covenent forever?
Nah whats disingenuous is running to check someones post history because they called a game mediocre which then lead to multiple people quoting the post followed by ad hominen attacks because a certain fanbase really can't take criticism but sure can dish it out. Btw those posts were from the Controversial opinions thread, not surprising it would be outlandish and ...opinionated.Nobody ganged up on you and I hardly had to do anything as grandiose as play internet detective. I literally typed in your name and "xbone" and I got a slew of posts all tinged with system wars BS.
You are entitled to your opinion, but I think considering your post history indicates 0 interest in Halo or anything Xbox and a deep-seated resentment towards the very existence of said platform, that when you say a Halo 5 looks mediocre when it looks as good as it does running at 60FPS on a modestly at best powered machine (context is important!) - let's just say it comes across as a tad disingenuous.
