First Rise of the Tomb Raider Xbox 360 images released

My GOY. Fuck every other game, this one is the one I want. Loved the previous one. Better be a midnight launch. Market the hell out of this Microsoft,it deserves it.

Hello, my name is Yves Guillemot, Vivendi S.A.'s Employee of the Month!
Pretty huge difference in assets, specifically in the lighting and Lara's model.

Looks quite good actually. Missing assets, less detail; but otherwise it looks good for what I assume is a downport of the XB1 version.

Even though the screens are small, that looks much better than expected.

Though, I can't wait to see the next Tomb Raider that's not held back by last gen, should be interesting.

Aside from the huge lack of foliage in the 2nd shot, and missing/poor shadows and lighting it's actually not bad.

Of course final judgment will depend on how it runs, but hopefully it'll be acceptable.

I just looked them up and it looks like they were responsible for Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, which turned out well, afaik.

Nixxes did TR DE on PS4, as well as TR2013 on PC and PS3. The PS3 version in particular actually turned out better than the lead platform version in 360, so there's that to their skill

iirc PS3 version ran worse but looked better. Not sure that's here nor there aside from that they're some kind of technical wizards, but they're a good port house for sure.

Looks good.

If anything it makes me wish we can just leave last gen behind. Games still being made around 512MB is mehhhhhhh

Looks great! I'm sure framerate will take a hit and it maynot be 720p, but anyone with a 360 and no XB1, should go for it.

I don't know why some people are so eager for last gen to die. Having a lower-priced system that can still run big releases is great for people with less money, or even people who have less enthusiasm for gaming but still like to play once in a while. It opens our hobby up to a wider audience—without watering it down a la a lot of mobile gaming.

I can understand being frustrated when last-gen ports bring down the quality of next-gen versions, but that doesn't appear to be happening here, so lighten up! :)

These consoles have been around for 10 years its time for them to die.

wants to fuck an Asian grill.
A 10 year old console still putting out games like this.

I'm a PS3 guy but respect the 360. Shame about the RRoD.

It looks good to me. Better than I'd expected. Then again, I'm much less of a graphics/resolution fanatic than a lot of GAF.

I still love last-gen.

What I'm curious about, since I haven't followed things as closely as I should be, is whether the game's campaign will be mostly the same across both gens. Or, will it be like Forza Horizon 2, where they're similar but different?

It is going to bomb so hard on Xbox 360 its not even funny.

If they require Windows 10 to play it on PC, at least I'll have the option of buying the 360 version to continue the story. Good of them to provide an option, at least, if the W10 theories pan out.

The real question is what framerate will it run at.

Like is it going to be one of them "target 30fps" but really runs at 20fps average games, or mostly hit its target?

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
I'd assumed that the last-gen versions would wind up quietly cancelled.

No console needs to die if it doesn't have to. If there's a market and quality software available, keep it going. Nothing is holding back next gen. Aside from MGSV, every single AAA crossgen release this year has been a downport. A good example is Black Ops 3. PC version takes up over 4GB of RAM yet they're still gonna cram it onto the old hardware because fuck it, scalable engine, more people get the game, more money, everybody wins. Saying a platform needs to die on the grounds that it's been around too long is silly, let them coexist if there's a market.

Looks like someone just turned the settings down in a PC game, which is a compliment. And why "old gen version" holding back doesn't apply in all cases, since PC versions of games have to account for wider power gaps..

Yeah. Old hardware holds back the scope of games.

They've said infinity times that they didn't even consider the old version when making the new one and left that up to the port team. When it comes to shit like memory constraints and whatnot, honestly most of it is taken up by stuff like textures, which since they're clearly not using the same assets are kind of irrelevant.
