Out of control pit bulls attack man.

According to this data, huskys are actually far more dangerous than pit bulls, they just have a lower percentage of ownership. Rottweilers are equivalent as well. Should we git rid of all of them too?

I'm not sure it's the right way to read "% of total dog population", as it's unlikely there's more Pittbulls than German Shepherds anywhere, be it in US or the world. Maybe it means "percentage of dogs that attacked compared to total population of this precise breed" but it's not clear. What's the source ?

If that was me with a kid I'd be out of there. I wouldn't risk my child being attacked too, and then walk up to the gore.

I fail to see the point. Dalmatians and Beagles can be little shits therefore we should keep breeding dangerous breeds? And if you seriously let your dogs bite you several times and play it off like it's no big deal I have to question your ability to properly raise and care for pets.

I cant help you comprehend a comparison between the dog breed on trial here and other breeds not immediately known for being vicious.

Re:bite. When your dog grabs a chicken bone off the ground because some cunt doesnt know what a garbage pail is and you have to grab it out of your dogs mouth you will probably get bit too. Unless you carry around a steel gauntlet for that kind of thing.

I had a pitbull as a loving pet for 15 years. Never barked let alone attack anyone. Didn't realize my parents were trying to be dicks showing off their right to be dicks, but thanks for clearing that up.

...and you couldn't have had that with another breed?

Cool story.

Another breed of dog could also have been a loving pet. The problem is these big strong dogs are dangerous when they get aggressive and some breeds seem to have been bred for aggression.

Yes, you know, you're on to something. Now that I think about it, I think we should ban hamburgers, pizza, steak and cheese. All these items do is lead to heart disease, which is the leading cause of death in the U.S. Having a piece of salmon with some veggies would also satiate our hunger just as well.

Cool story.

Thanks. He was a great dog.

If Pitbulls would only maul their owners, people would probably have less issues with them

Desperate for what? To prove to GAF that pits are okay? If you think all pits are bad, then okay? I can't fix everyone's ignorance. Go write your congressman and get some change going.

So much hate in this thread...

Not the dogs fault but they are simply too strong to be so easily attainable. So many terrible pitbull owners.

This is spot on. If I'd raised the dogs in that video from a puppy, they'd not be acting like that. As an owner of a so-called dangerous breed myself, I do believe more needs to be done to stop idiots mistreating them & raising them poorly.

Damn, hope your dog gets better :/

Reminds me when my parent's dog (a german pointer) got almost killed by another dog (I don't know the breed but it was one of those very muscular dogs — could even be a pitbull but I don't know). The poor dog almost got his throat ripped off. The wound inflicted was pretty damn bad and would have killed him if it was a cm to the side. From what I've been told the other dog's owner spent the entire time kicking it to try to get it off but he might as well have not done anything because the dog didn't give a single fuck.

Thanks. She should heal up fine with no lasting physical damage. We're a bit worried she'll be terrified of other dogs now.

All in all it could have been a lot worse.

I'm actually pretty surprised at the Chow stats. Were they smothered to death by fur?

I don't know about others but my neighbor's chowchow is super aggressive. It would always bark and try to attack my Beagle. Good thing the owner has a tight hold on the leash. THey are scary little lions.

My family recently rescued a dog from our local no-kill shelter. He and his siblings were thrown off a bridge as puppies, and he lived in the shelter for the first 10 months of his life. We just brought him home a few months ago and he has been the most loving dog on the planet. We have other animals(dog, cat, bearded dragon) and kids and the he loves the entire family.

Our town has a pit-bull and aggressive dog breed ban, but I never thought anything of it. Since we got Dino, a few friends have instantly said to me that it looks like he has pit in him. Quite a few people have said that about him, but his papers say he is a "plothound mix", whatever that is.

GAF dog experts, what do you think?

Absolutely. Loyal, loving, and sweet.

Same with all terriers. Staffs are Pitbulls of the UK, and a well trained/behaved Staff is one of the most wonderful dogs a person could own (I don't have one myself, but I've met a few great ones over the years).

I'd say that's a beautiful dog, but I'd also consider moving town...

Looks very similar to my 14-year-old pit. She might be a mix of something but she strongly favors the APBT, as does Dino here.

American Pits are actually solidly mid-sized dogs, maybe 50 lbs, tops. The hulked-out staffies that most people imagine when they think of pits are usually roided out and worked out to look that way.

My aunt's labrador retriever was suddenly attacked by a rottweiler. Since it was on leash the attack only lasted a few seconds but she almost lost her left leg. The rottweiler was also the "sweetest thing that would never hurt a fly".

Is there any way I can find out exactly what my dog is? I've heard about DNA testing.

We have a fully fenced in backyard for him to get plenty of running in, so I haven't really taken him on many walks.

I'm just paranoid someone will call him out, and I would like to be able to prove he is basically just a mut(my favorite dogs lol).

Thanks for the info tho! I'm admittedly not very knowledgeable about dog breeds.

Well when the item provides 0 positive benefits to society and is simply an exercise in dicks showing off their right to be dicks, the "get rid of it forever" mentality is far more compelling.

I want to see this thinking applied to things that Vulcan nerd-logic GAF seem to adore. Anime rape games provide zero benefit to society but I'm sure there would be a 20 page thread defending them.

Fault is with the owner 100%, if you can't control your animal keep it from the public. I know if my dog attacked anyone I'd beat him to death before letting something like that continue.

He would have been killed for sure if people didn't step in. I hope the owners are charged with a crime and unfortunately those dogs need to be put down.

Most places will call them a mix with a "wink" rather than acknowledge any pit. It's one way around regulations, and / or a way to calm people down.

Speaking of Pitt Bull mutts we also rescued a dog from the shelter. He was pretty small when we got him so had no idea what he really was. But as he grew I began to wonder if he was a Pitt Bull mix of some sort... He definitely has muscle!

I don't like them and I don't think they should exist but anime rape games don't attack and kill people and other games.

Awful pit bull owners. Like, wtf?!
I really hope Gaf doesn't go out and blame the breed. Brought up right, these dogs are the most loyal dogs out there.

I hate this vague description of raising pit bulls. Can someone describe to me in detail what you have to do compared to other dogs? How fucking right do you have to bring them up so that they don't do shit like this? These dogs are so easy to access purchase by anyone, even by people who don't have this apparent "special" training knowledge, which is a problem.

Damn that's rough. As sweet as pooches can be, they're still animals.

Is the dude gonna sue for some fine amount? I mean, money doesn't heal all wounds but I'm sure it'd help if nothing else. :S

As soon as I saw the thread title somehow I knew this would be in Nyc. When I was younger every kid who thought he was a badass wanted a pit bull. Idiots....

You have to be an experienced and good owner to have a pit bull. IMo only trained owners should be allowed to get pit bulls or any other powerful breeds. I'm a first time owner and guess what kind of dog I got, a toy poodle. Every time I see a pit bull I am wary, not because of the dog but because I have no idea how that dog was raised and trained. You raise a shitty toy poodle you might a scratch, you raise a shitty put bull you get killed.

Owner should go to jail, asshole.
Yep.

These idiot owners have no idea how socialize these dogs. The street culture of pits in NYC is disgusting.

Put down the the dogs. Charge the owner and ban him from ever owning dogs again.

Also fuck that dude dragging that little girl behind him CLOSER to the danger.

Props to the guy with the water hose and the people who were directly trying to get the dogs off. My god. They really seemed to hate that man in particular, since they always tried to get back to mauling him. This is reall shit. Real shit.

We get it. You love your dog. The problem is that these dogs are potentially lethal. The main problem that aggravates this is there are guaranteed to be some irresponsible, POS humans owning some of these 120 pound insanely strong, potentially lethal dogs. Go take a look at the list posted in this thread of all the people who were killed by these dogs. Put yourself in the situation of a family that has a child killed by a pitbull with an irresponsible owner. Look at the statistics. I don't know about you, but I don't think having a preference for a breed like this is worth the deaths of all those kids. You can get a different type of dog.

Also, that Beagle is gonna have a rough time doing any serious damage even to small children.

I do find it funny that people think these dogs are massive at 120lbs. A true apbt is usually 50-60lbs. Yes they are strong but again the pit name is a amalgam of dogs lumped into a title and people can mix breeds to end up with these 100lb monsters.

I don't think they are for everyone though.

As for saying all owners want them to look cool or are assholes.. That is the one of the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Yes there are those that do that but to say everyone wants to own one to look cool is out of line I believe. Because a true apbt I don't think is a "cool" looking dog.

I hate seeing violent dogs and offenders need to be put done and owners need to be charged.

Lots of tuff guys (tm) in here who have either never seen a dog attack, let alone a pitbull attack, as well as those who have never been in any sort of emergency situation. A kick isn't going to stop a pit unless you're freaking Jet Li or something. I have an ugly scar across my skull from a dog attack. It wasn't even a pitbull, just some mutt. It took two full grown men to remove its jaws and a third person to beat it until it stop fighting back. And like it or not most of you would stand there and watch rather than act regardless of whether you believe so or not. It's easy to watch a video and criticize others for inaction. It's totally different when it's happening in front of you.

I'd honestly run away unless I had a weapon. I've seen what dogs can do when they are in attack mode.

I'd really like to see the criteria used for Pit Bull when making this. In my experience, everything that resembles a certain look gets thrown into the "Pit Bull" category, regardless of what the dog actually is. A neighbor's dog bit me once, my parents thought it was a Pit Bull but it was actually a Mastiff.

In my experience, Pits are actually a pretty chill breed, they're just strong as fuck. On leash, there's no way my 70 pound German Shepherd could pull my 230 pound ass or otherwise get out of control. But if you've got two poorly trained, aggressive, 120 pound pieces of meat trying to pull you down the street, good luck. A lot of times these larger pits are crossbred too.

Awful, awful breed that should be banned.

Wanting to own a pit bull proves that you shouldn't be allowed to have one. I've rarely seen a bigger douchebag magnet than them.
