I think a nice little touch with the Paz tapes would have been for the last one to fizzle out in the end and then when you replay them it's all static. Or Snake saying all that stuff as if he was Paz, though that would probably just be creepy.

Oh man, that would be creepy. Perfect, though.

So that's pretty much the real ending of the game, and it makes sense of a lot of things. The world goes nuke-free, thanks to "Big Boss" and Miller, both go back to Foxhound eventually (well, the real BB does I guess). But for whatever reason, Big Boss ends up making a nuke, so logically Miller would consider him "a monster". Doesn't explain why Miller says he'll use V and SS against the real BB yet.

He didn't get the memo.

So the guy on twitter that claims to know either of hidden meanings or locked content in MGS V said this in a private message after my questioning.

Does it mean anything? How deep do we go? Amusing never the less.

I've seen it mentioned in a few places, but haven't seen any conclusive answers or discussions. Had Miller been made blind during his torturing?

I thought Christopher Randolph (Huey) had the best performance in the game.

His outbursts and attempts to justify/lie about what he did were very well acted imo. Thing is they never actually show you any actual proof of what he did, usually in stories if someone's saying they didn't do something you are pretty much guaranteed going to be shown something that definitively shows whether they did something or not but in MGSV they never give you that so all you can go off of really is what Huey says.

I'm glad it was cut. Venom and co stealing tens of thousands of nukes and dismantling them all is too stupid to even consider.

Until the recording of Strangelove demanding he open the door anyway.

I really like how that whole arc goes. At first it's disbelief at such a retcon, then pitying her for her delusions then no john you are the delusions.

That and Huey being the biggest piece of shit in the universe were my favorite parts of the character-related stuff.

The Huey bit was good too, I felt sorry for the guy at first until the mammal pod stuff came into light. I just hate that they just sent him off in a raft with no other update after that. This game's story gets good at several points and just drops it.

the "cut tape" everyone assumed was part of some heartfelt true ending where venom snake accepts his fate

is actually a line from a cut/very hard to reach cutscene triggered by everyone online disabling their useless multiplayer superweapons

The world going nuke-free ties in with MG2 but that takes place 15 years after MGSV.

Edit: MG2 is 1999 so it's 15 years, not 11.

It doesn't say that, Miller himself says he doesn't know why the world went nuke free, he wonders if it was political, military strategy, etc. So it's not entirely DD's doing, except they take part of it.

That just means in MG1 only OH has nukes.

We already know he survives and remarries.

we think

Also is Venom talking about The Boss or Big Boss?

The nuke-free world in MG2 was already contradicted by MGS1, which has the quote about thousands of nukes still out there as of 1998. Unless its separating the MGS world from the real world which is possible.

Yeah I literally have no idea whether he was telling the truth or not. Especially with the Stranglove tapes.

Either way it would have been too ridiculous for Metal Gear even.

That's actually a plotpoint of MG2? The world has gone nuke free?

Of all the things to retcon this would be my #1.

Edit: I looked it up and found this:

"NATO discovers that Zanzibarland's leaders plan to hold the world hostage by controlling the supply of oil through OILIX and nuclear warheads pillaged from old stockpiles marked for dismantling in light of global efforts toward nuclear disarmament."

So basically there is disarmament happening (like in real life) but it's not as if there are no nukes out there.

It quotes the '26,000' nuclear warhead figure from Metal Gear Solid in the ending too, so...

Yeah.

I'd probably spend a lot on a Mcdonalds Miller Burger time cell phone game.

Wolbachia makes for the best topping for the Kaz McBurger. It neutralizes the vocal cord parasite allowing for the palate to better taste the Kobe beef and maxi-buns. How ironic that the american imperialism that almost eradicated the Diné culture creates an iconic burger that props up the self perpetuating Americana culture that the Navajo have come to rely upon. For the vocal cord parasite to reproduce they must mate within the vocal cords of the subject and spread through the use of language. By filling the mouth of the subject with a Wolbachia burger they will be unable to speak halting the spread of the vocal cord parasite. The Wolbachia topping forces the parasites to change sex halting the ability to reproduce. A by-product of this burger delivery system is the creation of the ultimate form of expression... the Wolburgiar.

I mean, where else is there to really go with Huey at that point?

Just FYI, you lose 50K heroism each time you build a nuke, and you attain a ton of demon points that push Venom Snake into turning into Demon Snake (full horn and blood-stained appearance).

We want a nuke free world, don't make building nukes sound so cool.

What cutscene plays when that happens? In the guide if states that a cutscene plays when you reach 50,000 demon points.

the best part of these threads is the random fake spoilers and ridiculous made up plot points

mocking this series' story is just too much fun

I saw that. It's safe then to assume these quotes are meant solely for the player and not to represent MGS' world.

well like 70% of the conversation between Baker and Snake is about how there's still tons of unused nukes laying around the world, so I assume that part of MG2, just like OLIX, got retconned.
