Apple iPhone 6S |OT|

Took my new 6s to Salt Lake Comic Con today and some asshole ran right into me knocking my phone onto concrete. Aluminum sustained slight scratches. No dents and it fell pretty hard.

Walked right into the Apple Store and bought the black silicon 6s case.

Battery life still leaves a lot to be desired but I've been on it a bunch and I'm downgraded from a 6+

T-Mobile messed up. :/

Essentially what happened is, T-Mobile issued credit to my second line at the store because of a trade in. So we can't use the reimbursement anymore on that line. I wanted the trade in to be applied to the first line not the second so we could do the reimbursement.

Called customer service and they said there was nothing the could do. Got in touch with their Twitter account though. Hopefully they can help me out. Just told me to resubmit my final bill from AT&T which has both lines on it. I don't wanna be paying $600. :(

T-Mobile is promoting "Extended LTE" with the 6S and 6S+ in Houston. Has anyone noticed a difference in the service? Is it better? Is the 6S+ a lot faster than the 6+ from last year...worth an upgrade?

For those of you with either the 6s or the 6s Plus: how fast does the battery drain when just texting and casual internet use? I feel like anything would be an upgrade from my current phone so I'm curious.

Still don't know if I want the smaller phone or the bigger one (with more battery life).

I've gone through about 50% in 24 hours with light browsing and a bit of Netflix. I'm still on the initial charge and haven't plugged it in for a full charge yet.

Is this with the 6s or the plus? And that's a hell of a lot better than my current phone, haha.

Would love to hear thoughts on those who went from a 6 to 6sPlus and 6Plus to 6s. Curious why you made the call to go with a different screen size this time.

Picked up a 6S last night, compared to my 5S the battery life is godlike.

Had the black Apple leather case on my 5S, but contemplating either the silicon or leather case for this one.

Anyone noticing a really really faint blue hue on the edges of the screen (right and left) when on a white background? Like the neogaf webpage pretty much (white background).

It's really faint for me, and my girlfriend thinks I'm crazy for noticing such a small thing, but it's become pretty noticeable to my eyes after hours of use.

Yup.

haha wat

I can't use my data at all to do anything, it just resets and turns off on the menu 0_o

i think i should update the settings , wifi works and all that but not when i use my LTE

i have a t mobile 64 gb space gray

I've gone from a 6+ to a 6S. Was sick of the + not fitting in the pockets of the jeans & pants I wear. I'm definitely happy with my decision.

Cousin had the same problem on her 5S with the new update.

6s+ is so good. Only issue I had was when I was setting it up. It kept asking for my apple account password but wouldn't let me type anything. Phone lagged and would only input a letter like every five minutes and got super laggy. Had to turn it on and off a few times and press cancel on a bunch of password prompts. Now that i've got it set up its been wonderful. The live pictures and 4K videos are really nice. 3D Touch is great.

The screen size alone makes it worth it. I can finally type on my phone. It's beautiful.

YES!!

I've seen this on my iPad Mini 2, my iPad Air 2 and on iPad demo units in-store. Faint blue hue on a white background.

My family thought I was crazy.

My friends thought I was crazy.

The Apple Store people thought I was crazy.

But you understand. You can see it just like I can.

I went from a 6->6S+. The battery life on the 6 was horrible for me, I was getting around 6-7 hours of battery life (total) with mostly light usage. I've been using my 6S Plus since this 7AM this morning for games, reading etc and I've gotten about 9 1/2 hours of screen time (It's been in low power mode for the last 20% though). I love the bigger screen for movies/reading, too. No regrets, I won't be downsizing even if it's a bit on the heavy side.

Sorry to hear about your scratches! I put a small dent in my Watch soon after I got it when I hit it hard with a seatbelt. The 7000 Aluminum is tough, but not as tough as people make it out to be. Personally I preferred the look of the softer aluminum; it had more of a satiny sheen to it. The 7000's diffused reflectiveness makes it look kind of dull.

Re: battery life, if you were at a crowded event, I'm sure that played into the battery life. Anytime the phone has a poor signal it has to ramp up the cellular radio to full power, and I've found 3G to be a bigger battery drain than LTE.

I've been out running errands all day, streaming Apple Music much of the time and Maps directions, and I'm at 58% battery on my 6S. I switched from ATT to T-Mobile and I gotta say I only hit one spot where coverage dropped. Mostly I've had 3-5 LTE bars all day. Their new lower-frequency band seems to be working.

I went from 6+ to 6s and the reason was the screen is just to damn big. For an everyday phone I don't need something that big. I really hated texting on it. It's almost impossible one handed.

The 6s has been SO much nicer the last 24 hours. However I can notice the screen is not as nice. No biggie.

how did she solve it?

i can call, check my gmail and use the speed test but thats it for data 0_o no youtube, safari, app store , etc
might just take out the chip and put it back in

I turn the apps on(green) but after it just turns it off , its so dumb

Wow thanks for the info! That explains a lot. Since leaving the event my battery life has improved a ton.

I used my 6s+ almost constantly for 6 hours today (8:30am to 2:30pm) on strong T-Mobile LTE (clean install) and battery drained to 38%. Mostly Tweetbot and Safari. AFAICT it was all done cloud syncing stuff.

Edit: I full charged this evening and now I'm at 52%.

Battery usage 2h2m
Standby 4h7m

That doesn't sound right. But give it a few days. It may be backing up to iCloud while you're at home and doing some other things. I'm assuming brightness is not at max? Check the battery page and see what's pulling the main amount of juice. You can also turn off some background refresh settings. Hard reset your phone as well in case some bug is draining your battery. I've encountered a few bugs so far in iOS 9

It's almost certainly iPhoto for iCloud. Ever since enabling it, all my devices have performed like ass. Even now with this totally clean install. (My library is 54k photos and 250GB)

Ok, so I got my 6s+ and the screen is very big.

This is mitigated by the thinness of the phone, which helps it fit more easily into the hand. I bought a protector for it, but the protector makes the phone significantly fatter and a bit larger and that's enough to make using the phone too uncomfortable for my taste.

After some comparison shopping, I've gone and purchased $80/year, $50 deductible breakage/loss/theft/ insurance.
Dudes supposedly are A+ in the Better Business Bureau so that's a killer deal. One shattered screen or one loss, and I'm coming ahead.
.

What about the rest of you 6+ and 6s+ owners, how do you deal with the bulk of a case? Do you have one at all? What about insurance?

3D Touch is a game changer. I upgrade every year but this is the biggest update since Touch ID.

Much bigger than Touch ID was on the 5S for me since 3D touch actually works reliably.

No. 3D touch doesn't have 3rd party apps using it now. Wait a year and get the iPhone 7 when 3D touch will be used everywhere.

Some already do use it, though, which is pretty damn quick for a day after launch.

I just wish there were more Touch 3D shortcuts.

I really hate how Safari has the reload icon up at the very top where it's difficult to reach -- why isn't the refresh at the bottom or activated with a Touch 3D shortcut??

I feel like I am the only one who doesn't really like 3d touch.

My wife didn't like it yesterday.
She spent some time on Instagram and now she loves it.

The camera shortcuts really got her too.

Changing the settings to light really helped her out.

Gah, since the switch I can't get my email unread badge to go away. All 3 of my accounts say nothing unread, but the all inboxed says I have like 1250, so there's a notification badge for it and I can't get it to go away.

I have a notification on Gamecenter I can't get to disappear. Pretty annoying.
