Ubisoft livestream teasing Far Cry Primal (Ice Age Far Cry)

As someone said about 20 hours ago I think this is being held back because game informer will have the 'exclusive' reveal. Stop expecting anything before then.

Prehistoric Far Cry will be all kinds of awesome even if they use the exact same formula from the previous two games.

There are so few dinosaur games being released that it will always feel like a breath of fresh air amongst the myriad of other modern warfare shooters.

Sounds interesting, but why did they abandon Blood Dragon? Didn't it sell well enough (the reception was very positive)??

Prehistoric doesn't actually imply dinosaurs unless you subscribe to very specific religious beliefs though.

I love 80's action and sci-fi, but I don't think Blood Dragon needs a sequel. I'd rather they do something completely different (which this kind of seems to be).

Man they really need to adapt to modern digital times. I mean the games has already leaked or am I wrong? Why dont they just publish the press release and trailer than instead of still having the livestream or am I missing something here?

I think their trying something new, though it has gone on for too long tbh. If it had been 2/3 hrs then reveal it would of gone down better.

I'm actually really excited for this. But I hope it will not be "QTE to kill attacking sabre tooth". Give us something that at least feels realistic.

Man I'd rather have Blood Dragon 2 or something awesome like this:

Seeing this picture I think: Yes Blood Dragon 2 acquiring the Rick & Morty license would be an astonishing idea.

Valley of the Yetis was pretty much the same setting. We still played as Ajay and it was set in a similar Himalayas-like area (basically just higher up in the mountains) with the addition of Yetis. It wasn't anywhere near as different from the main game as Blood Dragon was to FC3. This FC Primal sounds like it will be the new Blood Dragon in that regard.

I agree though, the setting has potential to be awesome and unique.
What I meant was that Valley was the DLC campaign nof FC4. Ubisoft has had a pretty set routine of releasing one new DLC campaign for each of their games, and Blood Dragon would have been it for FC4 under their current direction. I also don't recall them having any kind of reveal campaign for DLC. This reminds me of how they revealed AC Syndicate more than anything.

The prehistoric setting sounds really interesting so i look forward to the reveal. Also, i do think this is quite an original way to announce a new game. It has certainly made me curious.

Now this is new.

But what the heck kind of story could result from this kind of setting?

Also, I'm not holding my breath on this being some uniquely skinned FC3.8 like the last game was.

Lol starting over..they sure know how to hype up the crowd. Should of just revealed it when it had 100k viewers, it's never getting back to that number.

Gotta hand it to Ubisoft, they definitely try for unique and overlooked settings or time periods.

Now if only they would change their open world design to have more unique missions and side mission and less collecting random stuff or doing repetitive tasks.

Playing an Ubisoft game is like watching some current hollywood flick. Style over substance, designed by committee, following a text book formula. Shallow entertainment that is fun for a few hours but ultimately forgettable.

What exactly is wrong with the far cry open world formula? I'm curious because i found f3/f4 awesome open world games to explore. Thanks.

The hate mostly comes from the repetitive missions and the constant climbing tower mechanic in order to open up the world even more.

This is not only prevalent in the Far Cry games but also with Assassin's Creed, and more developers are using the exact same 'simple' formula in order for the open world to be somewhat meaningful.

People are becoming tired of the same repetitive open world structure and that there are barely any developers out there who try something new. It always feels like a; 'I did that before' game.

This has very high potential. I dare say it's enough to get me back into the series - Far Cry 4 lost me. Too formulaic.

The only thing that might ruin this would be if bows and slings were super-effective like guns. Games like Tomb Raider are so bad for that. "Oh, the bow isn't as good as a gun, but is silent!" *Uses bow* "... No, it's exactly like a gun. Super fast fire rate, super accuracy and OHKOs."

Make this game melee-focused and Ubi will have a buy from me.

They will reveal the game, after they zoom back into the center of the mural.

Some proper Tim and Eric troll shit

It is going to be interesting to see what they will come up with in order for the combat to be fun and somewhat realistic.

Still... I believe Ubi is gonna Ubi so I am expecting some sort of time travel in order for the weaponry to stay interesting.
