This is why I mentioned upthread that I hope nobody comes into this thread expecting free art. Regardless of the original intent, the thread has become a pool of reference photos for artists to practice with at their discretion. If your face gets chosen, congratulations, you got lucky. If it doesn't, too bad, you were never guaranteed anything. Not that I have anything against anyone posting a second time if they do get skipped, of course.

If someone explicitly asked me to draw them something for free, I'd tell them to fuck right off.

If people can edit their posts to indicate that they got skipped over it would help me out a lot. I've been trying to do the skipped photos but it's tough to identify them because you have to search the entire remaining thread for each photo.

Yeah, I do this because I have some free time, and it's good practice - I find it's easier sometimes to motivate myself to practice if someone suggests something for me to draw. If it were for money, I think the expectations (both mine and the subject's) would be a bit higher, and I'd be less willing to just jump in.

That being said, I liked this photo (especially the hair!) and thought it'd be fun to try out with coloring:

There are a lot of people requesting pics versus those drawing, so things may take a while or may not be done at all. It's meant (I'm not the OP, so just riffing here, but...) as a fun/creative thread, so no need to get in a strop or sad if you don't get results, immediate or otherwise. It's all just a bit of silliness. Contributing by drawing others (regardless of what you think your skill level is) is also a great way to participate/barter/get noticed, btw.

The guy could give something silly for the talented artists to draw as well. There's a lot of pics of us looking normal or trying to look handsome, but people are more willing to pick up on something different.

Yup yup. A bit of jaw, the line of the back, some comedy... Hell, even just having a nice, clear pic with discernible details goes a long way for me when choosing which pics to do.

Same. It's a brain warm-up in the mornings now and good practice. I've been in a slump creatively-speaking, so it's easier to get motivated when it's a "pick one" scenario instead of "what should I draw."

Anyway, I think your shading experiment with Sol's friend was a big success. Looks like one of the professional sketches used by columnists in big newspapers. Very nice.

Yeah, it's a bit of a bummer when that happens. It's supposed to be fun, but when you add in a flood of requests/expectation it starts to feel like work. :/
