I don't know the US price but in EU I had it for 35€ day one. Less than 40$, don't hesitate if you have the time to play it.

i'm still wondering why this game had to come out all the way in October
Is it because Nintendo didn't have any games for the holiday season?

I forgot this was coming out in NA soon. I got kind of discouraged after the less than stellar opening reviews but it seems like gaf likes it. I'm a big 2d fan and just finished a Yoshi's Island play through so I'm interested. How does it compare to recent Wii U 2d games like tropical freeze, Mario Wii U or Rayman Legends?
* Since YWW is almost identical to Yoshi's Island in terms of jumping mechanics, the jumps (in normal mode) are obviously different compared to the other 3 games.
* Yoshi's Woolly World has a more flexible approach to player skill settings than the other games.
* Power Badges in YWW are very similar to the stuff you buy at Funky Kong in Tropical Freeze (but there are many more of them and they unlock gradually).
* YWW is more about exploration than the other 3 games.
* The bonus levels are quite hard, just as in the Tropical Freeze KONG levels. However, the difficulty is more about doing things right than synching a long jump sequence.
* Rayman Legends is IMO the easiest to get 100% of these four. Going for 100% on Normal Mode without Power Badges is quite difficult in YWW, but perhaps not as difficult as in NSMBU and Tropical Freeze.
* If NSMBU+Rayman Legends is 2D and Tropical Freeze is 2.5D, YWW is 2.7D.
* Bosses in YWW are something that just happens at the end of the middle+last levels on each world, it's not a main event.
* YWW's soundtrack is better than both the NSMBU and Rayman Legends OST, but it doesn't beat the Tropical Freeze OST.
I would rank the 4 games like this:
NSMBU < Rayman Legends < Yoshi's Woolly World < Tropical Freeze
(I'm a big fan of Rayman Origins+Legends BTW, I just didn't feel Legends added that much compared to Origins.)
Thanks for the summary! Why were early reviews not that positive about this game? Is it just 2d burnout?

Nothing beats the Tropical Freeze OST.* YWW's soundtrack is better than both the NSMBU and Rayman Legends OST, but it doesn't beat the Tropical Freeze OST.
Is this game really between 11 and 12 hours long if you don't care about collecting everything? That's surprising.
I expected maybe 6.
cant wait for midnight so ready for a new good yoshi game, also looking forward to using the amiibo costumes.
Can't wait! Midnight for me, too. Is there a pre-load for this?
FINALLY!
I'm ready to fall in love with Yoshi all over again. As one of GAF's biggest defenders of Kirby's Epic Yarn, I'm hyped!
KEY didn't need defending. What happened?!
A lot of people really, really hate how easy Epic Yarn is and how you can't die.
From what I read it sounds like YWW is on the easier side but not that easy, and you can totally die now, so I expect those complaints to be less prominent this time.
Should get this next week I ordered the amiibo pack from amazon
I was wondering, do we get the pink and blue Yoshi in North America ?

Epic Yarn was very clever. Honestly most Kirby games are very clever and fun.
How hard do you think it will be to find the bundle of the game with the Yoshi amiibo?
I pre-ordered this off Best Buy with standard shipping and am pleased to see that they shipped it out today via UPS next day air. I honestly didn't think I'd get it until some time next week. I'm excited to play through it!
Are you maybe a My Best Buy "Elite" member? I think they get expedited shipping free.
I'm not and they shipped mine out via ups standard. I wont get it till next week. Sad face.
I don't believe so. That's based on how much you spend in a year right? I don't buy much at Best Buy aside from a Wii U game or a BluRay here and there.
I am a Gamers Club member, but as far as I know that does not come with any shipping perks.
You getting this game and not Mario Maker? Niraj pls.My copy will be in from Amazon at some point tomorrow, looking forward to finally playing it.
