so another "the order"-like spectacle that looks amazing but not much else?
graphics are great, they're going to push those whatever they're making. but ascension saw the series sales plummet and reviews weren't exactly glowing...
it's much like the lacklustre reception for gear 4 when that was shown, i think a "more of the same" GOW will be met with disappointment no matter how nice it looks. it needs to do something more. just like uncharted 4 does (and seems to be with more open combat scenarios)
i have faith they will do that. and hopefully drop the 1 dimensional shouter while they're at it.
personally i don't even want to see the blades of chaos anymore. it's a played out combat system. give us something new with variety. GOW3.5 isn't going to cut it.
While I agree overall with what you're saying and they do need to freshen up the series much like ND is doing with UC4, an ''order like spectacle'' isn't even a possibility.
This is Sony Santa Monica's main studio we are talking about. Not Santa Monica helping a studio with their first triple A game (Ready at Dawn) nor is it a side studio working on a prequel of all things (God of War Ascension).
By the way God of War Ascension was received badly because it wasn't a main line game, that didn't have a particularly interesting or meaningful story to tell. A staple of the franchise which are the set pieces, were close to non existent as it was a more grounded game.
It was also something nobody ever asked for. A prequel. (We already has more than enough with the PSP games).
Having said that, it had great gameplay.
