Itazan in winners final for costa rica.

Rog will have to win Kakoroto in order to advance. If does and wins Itazan, he's pretty much in Capcom Cup.

I don't think smug has a chance... Even if he goes to Canada Cup he needs a top 2. With all the competition it doesn't look like he can achieve that.

Milan results are good for Smug. If he manages to take DtN he'll totally be at Capcom Cup, but he has to do it.

We already have some confirmations for Canada Cup. Asian players in attendance:

Momochi
Bonchan
Kitasenju
Hagejin
Misse
Fuudo
Xian
Gamerbee
Mago
Kazunoko
MOV
Gonzalez
Akira
AO3
Domo

Markman has written in rKappa that Tokido it's a Maybe.

Small room for americans to take points at this event imo...

I'm posting this back. I'm sorry for Smug, but with just a week there's not many room for improvement...
If he goes, he better do it with a "have fun" mentality.

Smug would go 0/2 with all the Elenas at Capcup anyway

LTTP but did Justin enter the Marvel tournament at DTB? Don't see him on the top 8 list.

Why's that dude dodging so hard?

Justin's Rufus seems to be dead. Good. While that character isn't ass in Ultra, there are better characters that do what he does in the game already. People need to switch.

I just don't understand why Justin's finally using new characters when it's the last year for the game competitively. Some players will probably stick to SF4 or play two games, but I doubt Justin will be one of them.

Could've just slummed it with Rufus for another year before being a top SF5 player

Most Marvel, Smash, and Guilty Gear players stick to their characters.

Abundant counterpicking is a sign of poor game balance. Some counterpicking is nigh impossible to avoid, but it shouldn't be rampant enough that the game is RPS.

Most Marvel, Smash, and Guilty Gear players arent playing for 100k at Capcom Cup.

Edit: and Smash is a terrible example, in Melee they counterpick all the time.

Capcom cup?

That's just it though. Justin was always willing to pick different characters. In Super days he was ahead of everyone in the US because he was dual wielding Rufus and Adon. Picking something other than Rufus never happened because SF4 kept changing versions.

Justin was playing Rufus yesterday. He almost lost against SpabRog but manage to comeback. He had to change to Elena with Native Impact in order to make the same. He remained with the character since then besides Snake Eyez (Not to metion it's a good matchup against Smug's Dudley).
Will see if he really decides to pick Elena and drop Rufus. Or was just a tournament situation

Any way points are like this (just costa rica remains)

1.MD|Luffy 724
2.RB|Snake Eyez 424
3.Qanba Douyu|Xiao Hai 360
4./r/Kappa|Poongko 308
5.EG|Justin Wong 306
6.MF|Tonpy 280
7.Liquid|NuckleDu 268
8.YOMI|Dieminion 236
9.Dark Jiewa 207
10.CCG|HumanBomb 203
10.YBK|Shiro (Shirou) 180
11.KIG|Problem X 178
13.WFX|801 Strider 174*
14.RZR|Gackt 160
15.RZR|Itabashi Zangief (Itazan) 152*
-------
16.Valmaster 148
17.Misse 140
17.Qanba Douyu|Dakou 140
19.Brawl|Haitani 131
20.FA|Ryan Hart (Prodigal Son) 126
21.Gonzalez 112
22.EG|PR Balrog 100*
23.EG|Ricki Ortiz 98
24.EG|K-Brad 96

Smug, Valmaster and Haitani failed hard. Gackt is happy about that since he wasn't able to attend any CPT tournament with points left.

Smash in particular has some extremely bad matchups.

People are just lazy.

Marvel is not comparable to 1v1 fighters.

Guilty Gear doesnt have a lot of counterpicking admittedly, but its very difficult to play more than one character at a high level in that game.

Lots of people have secondaries, but having a secondary for bad matchups isn't the same as counterpicking.

But smash has stage counterpicks
Depends. In Japan, only Final Destination is legal for Melee, I hear. It's part of why Sakurai thought the competitive community would be happy with FD-ized stages.
