The missions, the dances, the extra map. This is pretty cool. And you can do it almost all without paying...

Just the bad ass dances.

Haters gonna hate. Bungie can have my money.

greatest game comeback since ARR

Nah. As much as folks complained about Destiny 1.0, it was still a successful game. ARR was special because they revived an MMO that was a complete failure on just about every level, and turned it into a successful subscription based game.

Anyway, nice they are adding some fun holiday events this time around. Will have to pop on and mess around with it when I get home.

What did they do last year? Did the Jacko-lytes just get dumped to you in a mail package without anything else? I can't remember. But this is definitely more elaborate and cool, the kind of stuff I was saying they should be doing for holidays and stuff in year 1.

Jesus. The cost of these DLC are F2P costs. Disgusting.

I love it when GAF members use the word "Disgusting". The hyperbole is always real.

Nah blurd. Optional cosmetic purchases which pay for the development of a seasonal event that I can play for free isn't "Disgusting". Don't be daft.

Don't buy it then?

Don't be foolish - it's this sort of (completely optional) disgusting anti-consumer practice that is the cancer that is the gaming industry today.
It's serious business.

More time-gated content. Unbelievable.

I guess I'll have to wait for Christmas now for holiday themed stuff. Disgusting.

Don't buy it then? You lose literally nothing by not buying it

That's not the point, Carl. The point is... that... they would sell cosmetic optional stuff... for... uh... real money!!! And I only get a 301 ghost from my HM Oryx kill! Fuckers!!!

I love this event. This is what Destiny needs to spice things up and keep people interested. Some of these masks are really awesome too.

Selling cosmetic items so they can add quests in for free = Disgusting
Selling full DLC packs like TKK = Disgusting

Makes sense doesn't it? ;)

Path of Exile, a completely F2P game, charges less for their dance animations. That's a game that was crowdfunded, and the entire project was reliant on optional, unnecessary, completely cosmetic items that no one has to buy.

Destiny is a full retail game with multiple paid expansions already, created by a publisher with deep pockets that doesn't need to gouge already-paying customers for optional cosmetics to release 'seasonal events'.

I don't understand how anyone can defend publishers doing this.

EDIT - Evidently, the only response to criticism of a fan favorite is snark and dismissal. Cool community.

This Halloween event is like the least objectionable thing Destiny has done this year.

Too bad you can't transmog real helmets into masks.

Neat event but I'll admit it's a little...gross to use seasonal events to sell new stuff.

I also realized I'm not able to recognize Michael Jackson dances.

It is serious business, I bet they make a bunch of money off it. That sentence needed more hyperbole though

Frankly I find your post disgusting too.

This whole town is disgusting.

I like stuff like this, but it really highlights how badly

-we need one (or more!) Vanity slots of some kind
-we need to be able to equip multiple emotes

There's a lot of masks, and I'm already hurting for vault space. Combined with the fact they don't have stats kinda hurts any initiative I have to try to collect them all. Even getting the specific ones you might want at legendary rarity might be tricky since you can't even spend silver for specific ones; too early to tell yet though, and they had the decency to have this event run for a good while which I appreciate.

Thriller at $7 is probably too pricey for me. It's super awesome and one of the ones everyone wanted once they announced emotes, but I was already unhappy they priced the two most requested emotes at the highest tier ($5, more than the free silver they gave everyone COINCIDENTALLY), and this is $2 more than that already? It's fully cosmetic so no one should feel pressured to buy it or anything, but I'm worried we're already on a slippery slope of emote pricing. Not gonna lie though, main reason I probably won't buy it is we desperately need to be able to assign any emote to the three emote slots. It's the main reason I haven't put any real money into emotes as-is.

More time-gated content. Unbelievable.

Removing the word "disgusting" from your original post would have probably eliminated most/all of the snarky replies.

Well...

I mean you already have to wait for Jan 1st for the Red Bull quest to become open to the public. >.>

I was just being sarcastic based on how this stuff usually goes when it comes to Destiny. I actually think this stuff is really cool. Can't wait to get home and get me some masks!

Did you see your posts?

"Jesus. The cost of these DLC are F2P costs. Disgusting."

Is that criticism? No, that's called shit posting.

Your subsequent post where you compare it to the costs of similar items in other games? That's a good post, and I appreciate the point you brought up. I very much agree with you that $7 is too much for one dance move, even if it is optional. It's especially obnoxious when you consider the fact that Bungie is selling these emotes to fund future content, and we have no idea what "future content" we are funding. I'll still buy the emote because it's awesome, but I agree with your sentiment regarding the pricing (even if it's optional - being optional doesn't mean that it's above criticism).
