Gran Turismo Sport announced

F1 shouldn't be implied to be included just because this game has a partnership with the FIA. Bernie and FOM still have exclusive control over F1 licensing, as do other popular motorsport series in a similar manner, WRC included. The only control the FIA have in these is on track rules and regulations.

However, what this does open up is series the FIA does have full control over. A completely licensed Blancpain GT3 series with all the cars will be awesome, as will a potentially fully licensed WEC series.

This is definitely the "Prologue" of GT7, but this motorsports driven aim is definitely welcome for those of us who enjoy more hardcore racing sims. If the new graphics and physics engines truly impress, even a limited car and track roster would still rival other sims out there easily. And expanding the GT Academy idea into something that more people can get involved with isn't a bad idea.

Definitely will keep an eye on this.

Yep, this is GT7 under a new name. It's still going to have everything you've come to expect, but its' going to have a much bigger focus on racing. Which is something that fans and non-fans have been critical of for quite some time.

Okay, so it is the full, real deal then? Good.

Looks...like the PS3 games.

This looks like what now ?

(not that i believe the game is really going to look like this)

Lots of Porsches and Le Mans machines on the trailer. I liked it.

Let's just hope that they really make this game a more motorsport focused sim, with flags and real world racing regulations and rules.

GT4 was heavily delayed as well. AND they had promised online play. Still salty about that.

They were also developing Tourist Trophy the same time as GT4...so their development staff was divided on two separate projects, as well as a bunch of demo releases for shows and stuff.

For example

Gran Turismo Concept 2001 : Tokyo, Gran Turismo Concept 2002 : Tokyo-Seoul, Gran Turismo Concept 2002: Tokyo-Geneva, Gran Turismo 4 Prologue (2003), AND then Gran Turismo 4 came out in 2004.

Tourist Trophy which obviously took away work from prepping GT5 for the PS3, at PS3 launch in 2006 Gran Turismo HD concept came out, one year later in 2007 was GT5 Prologue, and of course GT5 three years later in 2010.

I mean despite all of the side projects and distractions, I think PD is fairly spot on in regards to their release schedule, with the exception of GT5.

Anyway, just the way the lighting looks reminds me a lot of GT5 and GT6. I don't see any great improvement overall here. It'll probably look closer to their bullshit trailers than ever before, though.

I like this idea vs a "Prologue" game. I guess this side project was in dev for a while, but I am curious how "7 to 77 can play" will be implemented.

That seems to be their goal. Here's some of their job listings from earlier this year

Polyphony wants to improve the situational awareness of AI drivers, and their reactions to the ever-changing conditions of the tracks, giving there a more human-like behavior.
Implementing specific regulations for racing series like GT, rally and NASCAR is mentioned, also for events and “mission races.”
Polyphony plans to implement a tool to render audio based on 3D space infomation.
The studio plans to implement a companion app on mobile that can interact with the series on PlayStation via the network.
The studio is collaborating with production sites around the world, and needs to develop communication tools to make the process smoother.
The use of GPU compute for physics is mentioned.

It isn't a side project or a prologue of sorts. It's the real GT sequel, just with a larger focus of blending real world motorsports and Gran Turismo. The name Sport implies GT is now a competitive sport of its own, or that's their goal.

“But our ambition for the first Gran Turismo on PS4 is much greater than that. We wanted to initiate much bigger change to the way people play driving games. And that’s the vision to the rebirth of motor sports.

Within GT Sport there is going to be two flagship FIA championships running simultaneously throughout the year. One is the nation’s cup in which a player will race represnting his or her home country. The other is the manufacturer’s fan cup in which a player will represent his or her favorite car manufacturer in the race series. What’s most exciting for me is that the series champions will be awarded their prize alongside real motorsports champions at the FIA World Final & FIA Ceremony hosted once a year around Christmas time. I think this is oging to be a real lnadmark in video game history.

The major difference between real life motorsports and “Gran Turismo SPORT” is in the fact that anyone, from children
to the elderly, can participate and enjoy racing.

Even players who have never played driving games until now can discover how fun it is to drive!
Whilst at the same time, it will have the depth and complexity to meet the
expectations of the existing Gran Turismo fans.

Could potentially be huge.

You do realize that GT6 came out on time and wasn't delayed right?

Why is it because one game gets delayed people have the expectation every game thereafter is going to get delayed as well.

I never said Gran Turismo 7 will be delayed, you can't delay something that hasn't had a release date announced. I just said that this "Sport" release is GT HD/Prologue, and GT7 is a while away.

Read the product page on the official GT site. I'm not sure how anyone could read that and come away thinking that this is some light experience like GTHD or Prologue. This is a full Gran Turismo title

Holla back at me when its 2019. This will barely see a daylight of dropping in the next 2-3yrs.

but honestly since Forza was born I never looked back..bought GT for the sake of just to have it...and plssss dont get me started of how GT series car handles--like amish on horse carriage....lol?

There is confusion because the message is confusing.
They needed to explain better if this is indeed GT7 or not.
I'm sure that interviews at Gamescom (edit: LOL PGW) will shed light on the matter.

My best friend won GT Academy in germany last year and has been driving in this year's season of GT Masters.

He actually managed to turn his dream of being a race driver full time into reality by winning a video game competition. It's pretty fucking awesome.

Gran Turismo HD had similar descriptions around the time it was announced. Descriptions don't mean shit.

Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) announced today the December 24 North American release of Gran Turismo™HD Concept, available for free download, exclusively on the PLAYSTATION®Store (PS Store) for the PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) computer entertainment system. Developed by Polyphony Digital Inc., this driving game features an all-new course for players to be the first to drive a Ferrari on a PS3™, as well as have the option to select a car from nine other worldwide manufacturers that include Infiniti, Lotus, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Suzuki. Available only for a limited time, Gran Turismo HD Concept takes full advantage of the PS3™ PLAYSTATION 3 hardware performance by providing full HD 1080p* resolution and next-generation car physics ushering in a new era of racing for the gaming industry.

"Gran Turismo HD Concept provides PS3™ and automotive fans a glimpse into the future of Gran Turismo," states Kazunori Yamauchi, famed creator of the Gran Turismo franchise. "With the power of the PS3™ technology, the world of Gran Turismo is refined by its full HD visual presentation and unique interactive experience, resulting in an even more realistic and true driving simulator."

That reads like exactly what GTHD turned out to be.

I think it is. They just wanted to get their big FIA tie up plans out there first.

Just wait for more details coming from interviews, best thing to do right now.
If it's GT7 they did a really poor job in communicating it and why they dropped the number.

Could potentially be huge.

Yeah, looks like this could be big....

They could have the game built on two engines, one for VR and one without, because I don't see PD letting this game run at the same graphical fidelity for everyone, as it does for VR...Or, VR is a separate mode, because I don't see PD downgrading the game for all, justoso it runs in VR for some...

Also, looks like they plan to expand this game with other racing leagues...So maybe in the future, you could drop$40 for a full NASCAR game within GTSport, or even dirt track Saturday Night Speedway racing...

I agree with others, this will be a platform, then within that platform, you can probably pick and choose different racing leagues as they are released in the future...Choose what you want to buy.....If they play their cards right, this could be amazing...

I have no doubt this isn't GT7.
I believe this will be a download only, maybe free to play, separate game. And maybe some of its social and multiplayer aspects will be integrated into GT7.
