I guess im the only one fine with the visuals. They're not trying to do hyper realism. They've nailed the fallout atmosphere imo.

You're not alone. It's not the best looking game I've ever seen but it's got it where it counts:

-Great atmosphere
-Great art direction and slightly stylized appearance
-Massive upgrade from anything Bethesda has put out previously

I'm happy

Comparing these two:

is quite a difference. It seems to be clear that some areas both inside and outside look better and worse than the other.

No bald cap? Lies!
I guess I was referring to the 'Please Stand By' splash screen at 1:13 then.

And you can't really distinguish that "fade into black instantaneous" as real-time gameplay since the demo had a bunch of jumpcuts between footage anyways.

True, but at this point we don't know if that was a jump cut or the actual loading time.

The 'Please Stand By' part is odd since they were just using the pipboy before. Might be that's the actual loading screen like from a save, which would definitely take more time.

It's objects. The objects in the game have shit for shadows and look out of place. While the pic of no objects in it, it looks alright.

Hope you are patient, because it will take like 5 years before the base game plus DLC reaches that price.

Skyrim Legendary Edition still hasn't hit 9.99 (At least not on Steam)

I was not seriously thinking the price would be $9.99... but you get the idea I was going for

Someone else who claims to have the game says it's the Pipboy flashlight that kills shadows. Kinda makes sense - you can clearly see it's on in the second screenshot.

IS it just me or doe sthe game seem to lack shadows? Like for objects? It makes things look so "flat" and out of place because fo the lack of dynamic shadows on objects.

The graphics seem fine. It's usually the animations that turn me off on Bethesda games because I'm stuck with using first person mode because of it.

You and me both. I can't believe we are a week away from the next Fallout game. Fallout 3 was a major highlight for me last gen. I seriously can't wait to see what building a fortress will be like.

There's no quantum leap forward from previous games in terms of the visuals, but you have to give these games a bit of leeway. No other open world games try to be quite as expansive, true role-playing experiences as these games. You could never make one with Witcher 3-level visuals. For all it's size, Witcher 3 remains a pretty focused RPG experience.

What I'm more interested in is how many assets are being re-used and are there going to be enough voice actors so you don't hear the same guys over and over again. That's where these games start coming apart at the seams a bit.

Conspiracy theorists alive and well it seems lol. Yea, the point was to show that the game can look good just as it can look not quite so good, like every game. No reason to hide anything. Here, some with a bit longer draw distances. Last ones for real this time:

I agree some of those interior shots look nice and the one outside the Red Rocket too.

But this one? :(
