Super Mario Maker |OT| Miyamoto Simulator 2015

Any update?

just checked. Won't update for me yet.

I hope Nintendo eventually updates with the ability to add specific events to level. For example, when you pick the door icon and you get 2 doors to put anywhere that link to each other, what if you can shake it and it turns to a door and a key. You place the door somewhere and it is locked, and you stick the key on an enemy (like how you stick a soundbyte to them) and the door will open when you defeat the enemy. Or you can stick it on a block or something and when you hit it it will trigger a door opening.

So I decided that having a level called "Dungeons & Dragons" would be funny because that's what every Bowser Castle basically is. I ended up basing an entire level around the idea of starting off at a store to purchase some gear, then starting off fighting some goblins or whatever in the wilderness, have an ogre there, climb some vines (gotta have vines) while weird plant life tries to kill you, then finally enter a fortress where dragons and lizard creatures possibly related to dragons along with some undead reside.

Went for both a sense of progression both in powerups and escalating enemy presence. Also went for something.. interesting I should say, with how you navigate a large part of the level.

Due to D&D being a copyrighted name, I am calling the level...

This level now has a checkpoint as well as a couple of other changes. Anybody that's played this level before but wasn't able to beat it should give it another go on the new version.

(As a side note, the old version of the level still exists)

I hope this will be the only level I'll need to bandage with a checkpoint. The D&D concept as a joke got the level carried away in length.

Finished my 1st level with a checkpoint. Well I actually finished 3 days ago, I just decided to wait for the update.

I'm pretty happy with it. I don't know if I'd call it a traditional style SMW level, but it's close enough. It's easy enough but it's pretty long which is why I waited for the Checkpoints.

It's also great for speedrunning, something I try to do for most of my levels.

With the Amiibo changes, I was hoping the Sonic costume would be tweaked. Nope, it's still jank. I hate that he spins when he runs, instead of traditional Sonic running.

Cross-post from the other topic: If you drop down a door, and tap on it, it knocks on the door. Do it repeatedly, and
Weird Mario pops out with a pose. He has several, and they seem to change with the current Game Style.

I finally made a new level (number 9! Almost used all my initial upload slots haha). It took 2 months after release but I finally made an autoscroller. Tried out the stacking power up feature amd it has a check point. Happy with how it turned out. Would love feedback.

I was looking forward to the checkpoints the most in this update, but know what? Now that it's actually downloading I can't wait to see the Ninty levels.

SMW has a cape one and a yoshi one.

SMB3 has one for raccoon, tanooki, statue (tanooki), frog, and hammer

NSMBU has one for propeller, flying squirrel, ice, penguin, and mini

Played this. Really liked the way it is laid out :) Fun. The checkpoint is placed well. Only thing I would suggest is having the stacking powerups in the level now that they exist. Really good job :)

No it's still the same, took down my levels and reuploaded them with checkpoints. Took so long lol.

Your levels are gonna be so damn good with checkpoints. They were always expertly crafted. Just long. This update is really good for a lot of gaf levels.

-Official Bowser stage is great, loved it.

-Arino's stages are simple, goofy but fun, great to finally play the level he trolled Miyamoto with, haha.

-Having real checkpoints is awesome but subworld limit will take some getting used to going forward. One of my hardest stages is like 60-70% subworld based, will have to adjust accordingly when planning new stages.

Cool, thanks!

I thought about having the stacked power-up, but that would've made the little bonus room kinda pointless.

Yeah true. A lot of mechanics in some of the levels become redundant with this new update. Still a good level though.

Does gsf hate autoscrolling as much as I think?

I've had the game for the past four days and I can't put it down. I've made two levels so far. The first one is incredibly quick and basic. The second has branching paths and is a lot more challenging. Please check 'em out!

He who pursues two rabbits gets two rabbits.
that's weird, why isn't it automatic like smash?

anyway, thanks !

You usually have to do this in any Wii U game if you're trying to play right when an update drops, Smash included. The Wii U seems to take a while to automatically download updates otherwise.

Checkpoints should make my levels a bit more bearable, especially this one and Floating Towers, check em out!

I got the game a few days ago and spent some time here and there unlocking all of the default building blocks in the editor.

Here's my first attempt at throwing a level together. It's just a straightforward, medium difficulty platforming level. No crazy theming or gimmicks here. I tried to make it fairly challenging while still allowing a skilled player to flow through the level without stopping. I've also hidden a secret or two around. ;)

I updated my first and hardest course, A Crafty Goomba Disguise: 1D63-0000-00D6-D6ED

"Mario's facing another castle, and this time he's taking the employee entrance! However, he'll need that Goomba disguise in order to bypass the security checkpoints. Can you make it through without being unmasked?"

In addition to adding checkpoint flags, I made it so there is no place where it's impossible to backtrack for a replacement Goomba disguise if you've lost yours.
