Glaceon will always be the best Eeveelution.

They were all really good. Glaceon and Leafeon fit the group perfectly.

Favourite is Espeon. This card was my favourite.

I was never that into the original Eeveelutions. I loved the next 4 though. Leafeon doesn't get enough love. The only problem is having to wait so long to learn Leaf Blade. Still a little mixed on Sylveon.

#132 - Ditto
Normal

All the Normal-type Pokemon up this point were basically normal, but Ditto is the first Normal-type who is downright strange, and was likely made Normal because it can be seen as the "unaffiliated" Type, the Type you put a Pokemon in when you don't want it to represent any particular Type. Ditto's main gimmick is the move Transform, allowing it to change into any Pokemon it's facing in battle, and thus making Ditto one of the specific Types would make no sense---perhaps they should've gone even further and made Ditto the "???" Type even? I could spend all day talking about the nitty-gritty details about Transform, go look up all the glitches and such associated with it, but Transform changes Ditto into the opposing Pokemon, including copying their current stats excluding HP (you'll notice no form change ever changes HP such as Mega Pokemon), gives them all of their moves, but with 5PP, and their Ability, so it turns the battle into a battle of attrition. Of course, there's sort of an implication that Ditto's "imperfect" compared to the real deal, as it'll usually die first due to having less HP, and the Ditto Trainer may not completely understand how to use all the moves the opposing Pokemon knows like its Trainer does. Plus, originally, most Pokemon could simply kill Ditto before it had the chance to transform, rendering it a gimmicky Pokemon that was only useful for the main game, and even then its power was quite dubious. Gen V finally fixed this through the Ability Imposter, allowing Ditto to transform instantly upon being sent out, and made him far more useful in the competitive scene---he's not perfect, as the opponent will know exactly what to expect, but he can usually be sent in to "revenge kill" a Pokemon, and could possibly turn the tide of battle in your favor. I've never used a Ditto during the main adventure, but I imagine with Imposter now it'd be pretty fun so I should try it one of these days.

Of course, since Generation II Ditto's been one of the most valuable Pokemon for an entirely different reason because, you see, Ditto is a sex maniac. Ditto can breed with every Pokemon who isn't in the Undiscovered Egg Group (which includes Baby Pokemon, all Legendaries except two special cases, and Nidorina and Nidoqueen for some reason), including Pokemon who don't even have a gender. How does he do this? Well, I'll let you figure out how it works, but as you can imagine Ditto's extremely valuable for this reason, especially when it comes to serious Pokemon breeding. He's the only way to breed male-only species and genderless Pokemon to get their Eggs, which unfortunately also means those Pokemon for the most part are incapable of learning Egg Moves since that's through the male parent, and Ditto has no moves except for Transform. I really wish one of these days Game Freak introduced some unique system for the genderless Pokemon to gain Egg Moves, but that's a discussion for another topic. I'm not really an expert breeder, so I suggest looking up all the unique quirks that comes with breeding Ditto on your own because it's quite interesting. The most unfortunate thing for Ditto though is even though it can breed with almost any Pokemon, it cannot breed with itself, which is pretty sad. Luckily there's no shortage of Ditto, and I assume they simply split-off from another in order to reproduce or something.

Ditto's one of the simplest looking Pokemon but that makes sense, you wouldn't want to give a Pokemon whose entire gimmick is transforming into other Pokemon an extremely cool design because players would barely see it. Its design brings to mind Nintendo's other power-copying pinky, Kirby, as well as Majin Buu from Dragon Ball, and I remember seeing people claim they're all inspired by some Yokai that's pink and known for transforming into other creatures, but I've never been able to find the name of said Yokai, so thus I assume it's simply a rumor spread around to explain why all three of them are similar. A couple of years ago, Game Freak did an interview with Best Buy's "@Gamer Magazine" (of all things) where they said Ditto was meant to represent the iconic ":)" smiley face, a universal symbol that everyone could recognize, which I think is a smart choice for a Pokemon like Ditto and explains why everyone seems to love him, although his powers probably help.

Ditto's amorphous appearance and ability to transform into different creatures also gives it a resemblance to an amoeba, or a similar "simple" biological organism, and perhaps its ability to transform into any Pokemon hints at it being connected to the overall biology of Pokemon---perhaps every Pokemon was once a Ditto, and slowly evolved into the creatures we know and love? There's actually a popular theory that goes along with this, that Ditto is related to Mew due to sharing the same default and Shiny color scheme, having the same weight at 8'8", and the ability to transform, as well as Ditto being found in Pokemon Mansion in Generation I where experiments were conducted on Mew and Mewtwo was said to be born. Some believe Ditto was a failed Mew clone that escaped, but I wonder if instead Ditto actually are Mew's cells, which in the past split off Mew and began to evolve into all the other Pokemon. Of course, as I'll talk about when I get to Mew, the idea of Mew being a universal ancestor to all the Pokemon is a bit sketchy, even in Generation I where there's a few Pokemon who don't seem like they'd logically be related to Mew such as those born from pollution.

The PokeDex says that Ditto's transformation abilities are basically impeccable, although it seems to have two weaknesses: it can't transform based on memory, and also apparently laughter will cause it to break its charade. The show also introduced the idea that some Ditto would actually keep their trademark smile upon transforming, and beyond the show we've seen this is a few of the games and TCG cards, but it seems to be an abnormality rather than the norm. In Generation I, Ditto would also always keep the same pink color when transforming into Pokemon, but none of the other media as far as I know have shown Ditto being unable to transform its color, but I wonder if originally that was going to be Ditto's "weakness" upon transforming? The PokeDex also says Ditto's able to transform into inanimate objects, such as a rock when it sleeps, which has also been depicted in other media, and I assume Ditto could probably transform into a human as well, but I don't think we've ever seen that, the closest is it transforming into a picture of a human. Perhaps humans though may be the one thing it cannot transform into? By the way, Ditto was planned to be in Smash Brothers Melee, where it'd take the form of the player and act as their partner, but processing problems meant this didn't happen, although he still appears in the game as an avatar in Tourney Mode, and in the Debug Mode although he doesn't do anything except slightly damage players who touch him---it's a shame Sakurai never revisited this idea in later Smash Brothers which probably had enough power to pull this off.

Ditto's first appearance in the show was pretty influential as it introduced the idea of a Ditto who could not change its face, although it got over this by the end of the episode. Later on, another Ditto appeared who this time was unable to change its size, thus transforming into miniature Pokemon which was actually kind of cute, and I'd love to see that incorporated into the 3D games. There were a couple other Ditto, like a Shiny one (that didn't transform into Shiny Pokemon though), one used by Drake in the Orange Islands League, and an evil one who worked alongside a Team Magma villain, but they seem to like to keep its appearances to a minimum. You know, it'd be interesting to have a Ditto on the main cast one of these days and all the hi-jinxs they could do with that.

Another two pieces of evidence for Ditto/Mew theory is that they both have perfectly well-rounded stats and that Ditto can be found near Mewtwo's location in Cerulean Cave.

I was so, so psyched when Ditto got Imposter. Finally, you could use it as intended in a match... Man there was a time when I used it on like every team.

One of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky's special episodes features a ditto which keeps it face upon transforming. It's also shown as able to transform into a treasure chest.

Ditto in Melee:

So cool.

Now I'm imagining Ditto slowly crawling on stage then quickly transforming as an entry animation. If it did get in as a random button I wouldn't be surprised if it had a small random chance of keeping its derp face every battle.

I like Ditto. I used one for a little while in my recent Soul Silver playthrough. I was surprised to see that when it transforms it only has 5 PP per copy move. I think that's lame and because of it I ended up dropping it. I loved that Gamesradar article about a Pokemon revolt that had a Ditto who killed Ash and impersonated him which caused Pikachu to commit suicide

I don't see why anyone would be against nicknames.

Was that the guy who named his Pikachu Sparky?

A long time ago I wrote up a concept for Ditto as a proper Smash character
Ditto would basically be the concept of a "ditto" match, except in the form of a character with a unique gimmick. Ditto would be a completely new character that would give the game an interesting game play mechanic without just having it be a boring tile on the CSS like the random button. Doing Ditto this way is also more close to Ditto in Pokemon, rather than having Ditto be the random button, as Ditto is bad at transforming if it doesn't have a referencing right in front of it.

Ditto would have

- A unique stock icon
- His symbol is always a Pokeball
- Unique victory animations
- A unique Final Smash
- Unique taunts
- Unique pain and death sounds
- Unique star KO and screen splat animations

Ditto has no moves of his own. Upon entering battle, Ditto appears, wiggles around a bit, and in a puff of smoke (the Stadium animation for Transform), Ditto transforms into a random enemy. Ditto retains 100% of the characters moveset and mechanics and visual appearance. Ditto uses whatever palette slot matches the one he picked. If it's the same as the enemy, he appears brighter like in FG. This includes all equipment, custom moves, everything. Ditto retains his stock icon and Pokeball symbol. This form stays with Ditto every life, he cannot switch forms after death. Ditto retains all of the character's voice lines as well, except all of them are pitch shifted up, as if they had picked up a poison mushroom. Ditto has unique pain sounds, however.

Ditto has unique taunts. When taunting, a puff of smoke appears, Ditto appears in his normal form, taunts and immediately goes right back to being the other character in a puff of smoke.

Taunts

- Ditto appears and starts laughing uncontrollably while his body changes shape rapidly. Ditto cannot hold his form while laughing according to the dex.
- Ditto appears, wiggles around and then sneezes, looking sad but then smiling again. The dex never says it, but I don't think it can hold its form while sneezing.
- "Clefairy" appears, spins around and wags its finger as a star darts over its head. Has a Ditto face (obviously).

Victory Animations

- A "Charmander's" back is turned to us. It turns around revealing a Ditto face (camera focus here), and then does the Pokemon Snap Charmander dance on a loop.
- "Tyranitar" roars (camera focus here), and then in a puff of smoke, appears a laughing Ditto.
- Ditto transforms into a cube, a pyramid and then a sphere (camera focus here), and then bounces around.

8 Colors

- Light Purple
- Dark Blue (not shiny)
- Orange
- Light Brown with Yellow Eyes ("sandy" Ditto)
- Black with white eyes
- Pink (classic colors)
- Aqua (not shiny)
- Dark Purple with White Eyes (Muk colored)

Final Smash: Hyper Beam

- In a puff of smoke, appears "Tyranitar" with a Ditto face. "Tyranitar" unleashes a huge horizontal beam from its mouth, which is aimable. Similar to Samus' Final Smash. At the end, "Tyranitar" roars and then a puff of smoke back to whatever character Ditto was.

In single player modes, Ditto will always copy the player character (always 1P in co-op), to remove a random element from All Star or Classic. If Ditto plays all star, he just copies a random character from the first three that spawn and keep that form in the All Star rest room until the next match where he transforms again. All Star is efficient with how characters load and unload, so I think this is probably the only way it would work. At the credits minigame, it just picks a random character.

Ditto would have the same three trophies everyone has and the game would treat Ditto exactly the same as any other character.

According to the dex, Ditto makes a perfect copy of something if it can see it. Its face only appears if it has to copy from memory, which is why this will work without needing everyone's face to be replaced, which wouldn't work at all. The anime is wrong in this regard, Ditto is always a perfect copy unless it's distracted or doesn't remember the form well.

If they wanted a cheap and easy thing to do, I feel like it would be super easy/no effort to make a "Mega Ditto" where you give a Ditto the stone and then he can just Mega Evolve based on whatever Pokemon that can do so are on the field. Wouldn't be super useful I guess, but heck, what else could you do with Ditto?

I love Eevees. I want more Eeveelutions, period.

I've never been a competitive Pokemon player, despite playing all of the games, but the one time I made a team for online battling it was an all-Eeveelution team in Gen IV. The team was inspired by and named after The Cobras from Metal Gear Solid 3. Some of them were perfect:

The Fury - Flareon (Flamethrower - perfect! Too bad the stats don't match)
The Sorrow - Espeon (A psychic!)
The End - Leafeon (Photosynthetic AND can tranquilize enemies!)
The Fear - Umbreon (Scares enemies with Mean Look and poisons with Toxic)

However, some didn't fit so well, but I did what I could.

The Joy - Vaporeon
The Pain - Glaceon (I almost went with Jolteon so it could at least have a Bug-type move, but Glaceon was new and I wanted to use it)

Of course, after Gen VI, I would swap out Slyveon for The Joy - another great fit. If only I could have a goddamn Bug Eevee.

If only I could have a goddamn Bug Eevee.

So far all of the Eevee evolutions have been based on the original Special types, along with Fairy, which probably would have been Special in the first three gens as well.

At this point, all that's left from the original Special crew is Dragon. A Dragon Eevee would be... interesting.

Starting in Generation VI, this is no longer an issue, due to both parents being able to pass down Egg Moves at the same time.

As far as I know most male-only Pokemon (except Tyrouge, Nidoran, and Volbeat) and genderless Pokemon don't have egg-moves still, though.

Mind you, none of them are bad (designs), I just have fond memories of the utility of my gen 1/2/3/5/6 Jolteon ripping shit apart
GameFreak pls gib Energy Ball to Jolteon)
, the hype I had for Gen 2's "Dark" type and Umbreon's ridiculously iconic design, & actually using a Espeon in one or two gens.

Edit: I also give Sylveon a high place just because it was the last Pokemon that I really wanted to build something for and haven't gotten to yet, which means the interest is there. Plus the design is unique.

Still, Jolteon remains king since it's been consistently one of the better eeveelutions. Bless Jolt.

I've always loved all the eeveelutions. Probably the only evolution line that has been consistently awesome across generations.

I always rekt fools with Jolteon, so he's number 1, but I think Umbreon is my favorite looking eeveelution.

I never really cared for them either. Didn't really care for the initial 3 even though they were quite useful, I liked Umbeon and Espeon thanks to Colosseum, and Leafeon, Glaceon and Sylveon do nothing for me.

Best thing about Sylveon was the fact it was revealed before the Fairy type and so there was lots of speculation about its type, including people thinking it was Flying type and used the ribbons like a helicopter, lol.

Also Sylveon is too damn complicated to get compared to the others.

I love everything about Eevee. I think its the core essence of what a Pokémon is and how there are so many opportunities to train one into the Eeveelution you want.
