Thought I'd post a thread about this since I have red hair. You get a lot of shit growing up with red hair. People make fun of you constantly. Luckily I'm a big dude so I could fend for myself but for the smaller guys and girls I'm sure it was pretty rough for a lot of you out there.

My wife is pregnant and she asked if I wanted our child to have red hair like me. I said probably not because I wouldn't want him/her to be bullied. I personally think red hair is pretty awesome. It makes you unique and I think it can be pretty sexy on women.

So GAF why all the hate for red haired people? Is it solely because we are different?

I don't know. I think other women don't see it as "sexy". I actually had this conversation with my wife that I referenced in the OP. I said if we had a girl I think maybe I would want her to be a red head because guys like girls with red hair. She was shocked when I said that. Maybe all women think guys just want blonde bimbos.

All my life I have had solid black hair with the occasional Asian white hair.

And then I grew a beard. And in that beard was ginger hair. It is amazing.
Like 10℅ is ginger and when the light catches it just right it positively glows.

I find it interesting that a lot of guys grow red beards or at least partially red beards when the rest of their hair is a different color. I wonder what the scientific explanation for that is. My beard actually has some brown and black in it but its mostly red to match my hair.

Growing up with red hair was fairly tough, even where I'm from where it's pretty common. I hated my hair when I was a kid, but now I absolutely love it and wouldn't change it for anything. That shit gets me noticed.

Girls either love it or hate it, although the few times I managed to convert them felt great

To be honest, nowhere is it anywhere close to how it is in the UK. Growing up there, even as a tall, strong kid on the rugby team, meant you were mocked and abused endlessly from all directions.

If there is a god, he hates me. Grew up ginger, started going bald at eighteen and now what's left is going grey.

I had a redhead gf in HS and for sure it was the most beautiful thing on earth that has honored me with her kisses and hugs.

Afterwards she dumped me since she was going to college next year, she was a year older than me.

14 years have passed.
