Smooth, charming people who can lie to your face? Huh. Almost sounds like someone running for President...

WOW, hahaha. When I saw the first mention of the comment from 1998 I thought, "Well, ok, it was 1998. What would be fucked up is if he still believes it."

Jesus fucking Christ this guy is a complete BONER.

how legit is that quote about Joseph building the pyramids? Like what the hell does that even mean? Joseph as in Jesus' father? is there a link to that entire interview so I can read the context of what he's babbling about?

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!
It's insane that this dude is somehow crazier than trump.

By like, a really significant degree. I'm way more scared of a potential Carson presidency than Trump.

I've been seeing the pyramid thing in a couple of places
just astounding

I choose to believe that republicans latch on to one of two hot button issues they care deeply about and just roll with all the garbage that comes with the GOP.

Atleast, I hope so.

I think you're giving them way too much credit here.

I can't watch right now, but how the hell did that come up in a freaking commencement speech? Egyptian pyramid conspiracy theories? Dude sounds more and more like a rambling lunatic everyday.

Something about the power of God. I listened to a good amount of it and I don't really know.

is the whole "Joesph built the pyramids" thing some unconventional, weird theory that people out there believe, or did Carson just totally make it up and basically he's the only one that believes it?

That's what I want to know too. I dont think any biblical scholar believes Joseph built pyramids to store grain.

It actually says right in the Bible how Joseph stored grain.

Joseph collected all the food produced in those seven years of abundance in Egypt and stored it in the cities. In each city he put the food grown in the fields surrounding it. Joseph stored up huge quantities of grain, like the sand of the sea; it was so much that he stopped keeping records because it was beyond measure.

Maybe it's open to interpretation, I dunno.

Someone should tell Carson that there's not a lot of actual space inside the pyramids. Does he think they are completely empty inside? lol

I'm also wondering why Egyptians would bury their kings in granaries...

I see. But are there any bible scholars or preachers that believe this? At this point I assume Carson pulled it out of his ass. Just like his entire presidential campaign.

In the little research I've done, I can't find anything that says this. It all gets a little confusing since they have to fit the accepted Egyptian timeline in with Genesis. They seem to agree they were around before Abraham came to Egypt.

I thought the Bible said Pharoah had the jewish slaves build the pyramids, before Moses comes and rescues them.

The Bible doesn't claim that the pyramids were built by Hebrew slaves. It says they were involved in the building of the cities of Pithom and Ramesses which are way further north than Giza.

Between Pyramid-Gate and his obvious lies about his "origin story" it is amazing to me that anyone, including the profoundly stupid, can take this guy seriously.

The story about him walking his bike all the way around the block rather than crossing the street without his mother's permission actually explains why he lied about a violent past. he was a chickenshit and this is his Walter Mitty-outreach.

I mean apart from 20 billion other things, why would you make a mostly solid storage container? Of ANY size?

I need a pill container. I know, this pool ball.

You are absolutely right — I have no political experience. The current Members of Congress have a combined 8,700 years of political experience. Are we sure political experience is what we need. Every signer of the Declaration of Independence had no elected office experience. What they had was a deep belief that freedom is a gift from God. They had a determination to rise up against a tyrannical King.

(Note: The Founding Fathers did have political experience, but Ben Carson is okay with the whole "lying" thing)

When he says scientists does he mean Dr Daniel Jackson? Because he's not a scientist he's an archaeologist.

How can someone trained in medicine and a highly successful career in neuroscience believe in all that insane bullshit?

There's only one way to explain all this. The ancient Egyptians were ruled by sentient sheaves of wheat. That bread and cereal you buy that's "Enriched with Niacin"? Directly traceable back to their embalming process.

Also, Hitler did it.

This post made me realize that in Civilization 2 and 3 building the pyramids gives you granaries in every city. I really really hope that Carson is just a huge Civ fan.
Is this the new version of Herman Cain's SimCity 9-9-9 plan? I think so. Let's run with this.

And yeah, it was always a rush to build that wonder for how ridiculously powerful it was. Never understood the logic behind the bonus.
What, you don't think this guy is a scientist??
Alien influence on the construction of the Pyramids is a far more plausible theory than grain silos.

A suggestion to my fellow GAFers, don't try and get attempt to converse with a Carson supporter on any of his madness or ask if someone so clearly insane should be President. You WILL come out of the argument none the better for your efforts.

It's looking increasingly likely that Ben Carson lied about stabbing a dude when he was younger:

During an appearance on "The Kelly File" on Thursday night, Ben Carson told Megyn Kelly that the person he tried to stab when he was younger was a "close relative." He also alleged that he spoke to the person today and that individual did not want their name to be publicized. This is a deviation from his previous retellings of the event in which a classmate was mentioned as the individual involved. Carson also pushed back against investigations into his past saying “I would say to the people of America, do you think I’m a pathological liar like CNN does? Or do you think I’m an honest person?"

Carson's business manager Armstrong Williams did not respond to a question from the Daily Beast asking why this story is different and who the close relative is. Instead he emailed: "Please move on. We had no intentions earlier in the week or now, to cooperate with your hidden agenda."

I mean, I have no idea, but okay.

well you can go to school with a close relative.... but really... why the hell did he even bring this up if he didn't want the media talking about it haha?

I had to address the problem of what to do about my current secretary, who, besides being incapable of doing the work, was an alcoholic. I had not told anyone else, but I knew that something had to change.

How do I handle this situation? The woman really needs help. My firing her might add one more disaster to her life. But I can’t have this kind of gross inefficiency, I thought. At the same time, I’m softhearted. I always feel sad when I have to do something unpleasant even if necessary, and it is especially hard for me to fire somebody. I was beside myself, not knowing what to do.

I walked back into my office, shut the door, and prayed quietly, Lord, how am I going to resolve this dilemma without having to hurt anyone? I want to be kind to her, but I can’t let this go on.

I did not get an instant answer, but I felt better.

Two weeks later, my then-secretary did not show up on a Monday morning. We called her apartment and got no response then or later. For days we kept trying to locate her, including checking with all the local hospitals. We never did find out what happened to her. She simply disappeared. I regret that the depth of this woman’s problems leading to her dismal situation was not more apparent to me and that I did not have more time to try to help her resolve her problems.

I am thankful that this problem was resolved without any unpleasantness on my part.

Ben Carson glad God disappeared his secretary, God looking out for Carson's convenience.
