In the cave logo press alt+enter and close it (alt+f4) before the title screen appears, then open it again, it should let you play the game.
It worked! Thanks a ton.

Well, now that I got it to work and played 1 run on original/normal (I have to leave, sadly), I have to state for the record that this game is just as slick as I remember it to be. The controls, the enemy and bullet patterns, the music, the art. Sogood.gif

Edit: Confirmed that GeDoSaTo allows Mushihimesama's game window to render at native resolution, for super-sharp upscaled pixels.
Anime tits are weird, but whatever.
Sprites look great although I have no idea how large my hitbox is, lol.
Edit: jesus fuck how am i supposed to dodge all this crap
Are you holding "shot" all of the time? Try holding auto for faster movement...Is it me, or is the ship movement speed really slow?
Feels like stock Gradius speed at times...
Might be just that I played too much of Crimzon Clover...

The game has an auto fire button. I just alternate between holding one or the other if I want to change movement speed without stopping firing.Or just tap the shot button instead of holding it. You don't have to tap quickly so don't worry if you're not Super Turbo Button Guy.
Yep I actually just always hold auto, then put another finger on shot when I want to slow down. The game has an auto fire button. I just alternate between holding one or the other if I want to change movement speed without stopping firing.
The player sprite is Reco (the princess) riding on Kiniro (her bug). What is the player sprite anyway? I'm assuming it's the titular princess, but is there an illustration of what you're controlling somewhere? The whole thing, I mean, not just her.
Also, the OST sound quality is pretty good. Is that lossless quality, or similar? I am tempted to use the boss theme for an alarm on something... Just the right amount of weird without being annoying.
Mushihimesama has strange auto fire options because the rate of fire has scoring implications. It was apparently common for some arcades in Japan to implement different auto fire buttons with different rates of fire, and the port tried to accommodate this. I think it's not something you really have to worry about unless you are chasing the top 5% of scores though.I kind of don't really know what to do with the 2 rapid fire buttons.
I just use Full auto and Shot, that's what I'm used to in my very sporadic forays into the genre.
I think I should stop avoiding bomb usage, though, even if I don't want to start using continues, even if limited (at least for the first 2 stages).
I get the same thing. Will try out Durante's suggestion, but maybe the problem is that we both have second monitors?
Yeah, that's how I play it.Yep I actually just always hold auto, then put another finger on shot when I want to slow down.

Other ports simply have shot/bomb/auto fire/action button mappings and leave it at that.
Well, you also get the most powerful shot (holding A+ and C together) using autofire, so it's a little more than just "for score". For players who don't use autofire you want to hold C down and continually tap A to achieve the same result, but you want to tap at a speed that doesn't put you in focus (hold down A) shot.
Generally, you want to have an additional two buttons, an A+ and a C+, but some more complicated setups might have two different C+ that are firing at different rates.
Now that I didn't know. How does one normally map this on a six button stick layout?Well, you also get the most powerful shot (holding A+ and C together) using autofire, so it's a little more than just "for score". Try running the game in administrator mode that's what I have to do.For me it still crashes at the title screen when I press Start
Just for clarification, what are A, B and C?
I assume A is shot, B is bomb and C is autofire. Might be wrong about C but I don't have the game in front of me.

Woo!
And it gets past the start screen and plays and such so far, works with my stick too. Doesn't seem to launch unless I set a virtual desktop, so I just made a bigger one after that and use OS X's screen zoom to fill the screen.
I really wish people would talk about the actual game instead of complaining about 2-3 FPS missing.

I've been messing with GeDoSaTo's settings but the game still runs 55-57 fps. Maybe I'm missing some steps:
-set Nvidia scaling to GPU in the control panel
-added default || Mushihimesama to the whitelist
-edit configGeDoSaTo.ini
-renderResolution 1920x1080@60
-presentWidth 1920
presentHeight 1080
presentHz 60
-fpsLimit 60
Still measuring 56 fps.
GeDoSaTo fixes it though. (And I have no idea why)Yeah, whatever is going on with the framerate isn't bound by refresh rate.
Do you have Windows 8+ and secure boot enabled?EDIT: Now I see the actual problem, GeDoSaTo isn't working with any of the games I have. I'm such a noob
GeDoSaTo fixes it though. (And I have no idea why)
Well, "fixes" by making the game run at ~66 FPS without any further limitations, which can be reduced nicely to 60 by e.g. V-sync
Do you have Windows 8+ and secure boot enabled?
It's a shooter. That's one of the MAIN selling points is not having FPS issues.
