The Frame Rate of Fallout 4 in Interiors is horrible [PS4]

My LG is probably somewhere around 60-70 milliseconds (tested on RockBand manually), but indeed, I wasn't able to pass a certain pix-the-cat level, 20 or so times with no results, passed on first try on my brothers TV. That specific level was more twitchy then others apparently, as I was managing further levels without or much less problems.

Yeah, I read that LG's weren't great for input lag, even some of their 2015 models are as high as 60. I tried playing Pix on PS4 at first, then saw how twitchy it would get later on... Thank fuck there was a Vita version.

I very recently decided to stop buying games i want until at least a GOTY version exists. Ideally i want to put myself a year or two behind the new release curve.
Fallout 4 was always gonna be the 1st big test of my resolve to stick by it.
Unfortunately the early signs are seeming to bear out the wisdom of my desicion, and making the willpower test that less difficult to bear.

Bruh stop comparing Fallout 4 to Witcher 3. You can't even pick up objects in that game.

You know, I'd be up for them scaling back the number of items you can pick up if it made the game more stable. I could live without being able to pick up every cup, fork, spoon, plate etc on a table.

Maybe they could combine some things, like a spork and free up some memory.

I agree

You have loadings when you enter in some buildings, big ones (pretty short, 5 secs maybe).

Not that many. Only large buildings have a loading screen. And
Diamond City (a city within a city)
for some reason.

alright, thanks, that doesn't seem that bad. It got really annoying in skyrim when you wanted to sell stuff and had to visit like 5 shops (stupid low amount of shopkeeper gold), and you got a loading screen every time you went in and out of a shop that was basically a single small room. Made it even more of a chore than it already was. If they fixed that, great!

Framedrops when ADS feels like a bug, it wouldn't be the first game that has this problem.

A new amazing looking and running engine or the ability to pick up lots of junk you'll never use. Pick one.

This is sad to hear. The Witcher 3 is a lot better now on PS4 after lots of patches. I hope Bethesda can sort this out. It's a big fat bummer.

I was planning on getting it on PC anyway - but now I'm definitely happy with the idea of a constant framerate at almost half the price on PC (£28 rather than £50).

Is that on PC?

( referring to two posts above)

It is looking at his post history, and in my experience SSDs aren't as effective on consoles. If I remember right there's some other bottleneck on consoles which leads SSD usage to only shave off a few seconds as opposed to eliminating load times altogether like on PC.

I'd like to say I'm surprised, but I'm not.

I wonder how many more generations Bethesda will force the jankbryo engine to keep limping through.

I played for a few more hours last night and yeah, starting to notice some performance issues now. Nothing bad enough to put me off playing, but if it gets any worse I might just put this down for a while and continue with TW3.

Game is incredible, btw. Love the crafting/building system.

I really do not want to read all 59/30 pages of this thread, but have there been news/comparisons/posts about the XOne version, if there are similar issues?

Because i had both, PS4 and XOne Pip-Boy-Edition pre-ordered, but decided to go with PS4 and cancelled the XOne pre-order.

Just want to know if *I made a big mistake.gif*. :)

Nobody really knows, wait for Digital Foundry I guess.

By some reports here, it seems it has overall the same performance. Except for ADS frame rate issues, heard about in on PS4 but not a report about for XB1 it seems.

When Digital Foundry will be able to release their comparison? Embargo ends today?

"Big mistake"? probably not. Umpteen people have played this game, and (personally) I don't remember seeing any comments suggesting the game was 'horrible indoors' on PS4 before this thread. [this doesn't mean it ISN'T, just that maybe some people are far more susceptible to it]

Just wondering - could this be caused by asset streaming, and is it possible to 'defrag' a PS4?

Lewl I was skeptical and swore I would wait to pre-order this time around, but the streams and stuff looked solid, so I went and did the deed...

I really really hope this isn't an issue on launch, hopefully digital foundry has a good analysis asap.

I gave up on The Evil Within because it was such a mess fps wise on PS4 and they didn't give a crap when we complained on the forums.

I am also in the *I have made a huge mistake.gif* pending pile =(

Digital Pre-Order FTW /facepalm

I think you can expect some coverage today (if all goes well)

Metal Gear Solid 5 also has incredibly barren environments with very few dynamic world events and last gen texture quality even on PC. They set a framerate goal and hit it but it came with many compromises.

Speaking of last gen texture quality, have you seen any of the Fallout 4 videos?

They made the right choice then. Fallout 4 is an ugly game (much less attractive than MGSV) and runs like garbage on consoles.

Exactly. It's the norm. People need to stop complaining and accept that it's just how it is. I get to enjoy an amazing game that took thousand and thousands of hours to make and craft by tons of talented people, and if that means I have to wait god forbid half a minute for a new part of this amazing world to load, I think I'm fine with making that sacrifice.
To each their own, don't you think? If you're OK waiting half a minute every time you open a door, that's of course great for you. Others might think 'that's a hell of a long time', and they actually do have a point, IMHO. 50MB/s (some HDDs get faster speeds) * 25s is 1.25GB of data. I don't know about you, but that's a tremendous amount of data for the interiour of a factory.

The 'it's the norm, accept it' attitude *made* it the norm. Accepting something makes it the base line. It's of course ridiculous to demand load times which the hardware physically can't deliver (e.g. 400MB/s or higher speeds which only SSDs on SATA3 can deliver) but to me it's a little too passive to simply accept what the corporate drones try to sell you without questioning why.

Damn. MGSV is a nice looking game but there are better IMO, so reading this is kinda sad.

Fallout 4 looks worse and run way worse... hopefully won't be like Skyrim on PS3.

Fuck man I really want to play this but I hate Bethesda for changing the dialogue system and the fact it looks and runs like shit on a ps4 supposedly. Goddamn you Todd Howard and Pete Hines ( liars )

that feel when the hat guy equips his notepad like a shield because they copy-pasted animations from skyrim

pixar-level of animation skill here guys

This is the best.

I gotta disagree with this. It has its fair share of crappy textures and a lack of AO, but at times it looks absolutely beautiful. The lighting & atmospherics, denser environments, and use of colour in the world make it more visually appealing than MGSV, for me at least.

If only the animations and framerate were on MGSV's level...

I know that "pick up shit" has become a tired meme at this point but it was kind of mindblowing to me in F3 back in the day (I know others did it before). It's just not that impressive anymore after seeing it in multiple games. Hilarious that people use it to excuse the graphics though.

it's a novelty at first "ohhhh, i can pick up each individual spoon".

then you realise it's ultimately pointless since the spoon is worthless and you can do nothing with it...and jesus christ i want to pick up the ammo not the fucking spoon...ARRGGH....

Oh my god those comments on the first video. Dangerous levels of salt from gaf haters hah.

But no that actually looks pretty great tbh. Bit of stuttering when you were hanging by the hole in the wall before running through, but the rest of the frame rate looks fine. Maybe it's just me.

Will probably wait to buy to see if any of this gets addressed in a patch. If I'm going to be spending 100+ hours playing this game half minute load times are going to add up.

Interested to see the X1 version, not to be tin foil hat guy, but Bethesda always seems to put more work into the XB version of the game.

In this game the spoon is useful. Literally every junk object can be used for the crafting system. Find a coffee mug? Use it in a recipe that requires ceramic.

Watching a lot of gameplay on the Live with PlayStation app. I asked if there are any framerate issues and they all said extremely minor to none.

Who to believe.

Pre order cancelled. As a PS4 only player paying 80 dollars from Canada that has never played a Fallout game, it just isn't worth it. Plus there is also the framerate issue when scoping. Oh well. Life goes on.

I don't have the time to watch any video, but please tell me: is it Skyrim on PS3 all over again? I still have nightmares of that game.
