Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Chunk 1 (CyberConnect2, UE4) Trailer, "PS4 Console Debut"

The BS in XIII was fantastic so i'd be happy to see it similar to that tbh

Would like to know what consoles this for, want this on Xbox so bad. Footage looks incredible, but you can tell it is in early development. All Midgar footage in the first 3 hours of the game. Can't wait for release but I would say la te 2017 at the earliest.

Bombing mission demo will totally be packed in with FFXV. Probably why the game looks as far along as it does (I expect the rest of the game isn't as developed). Looking forward to it :)

This looks amazing. It seems weird though, not like Final Fantasy 7 with the voices and the detailed environments. I'm not saying bad though just weird like seeing things from a different perspective.

In combat it looks like two characters are able to attack at the same time, that doesnt seem to gell with the turn based nature of the original. But I dont mind.

Believes Dragon Quest is a franchise managed by Sony
My guess is a lot of the game is being developed at CC2's studio, and the game is UE4 :p

That's my prediction.

I love how this looks more like a reimagining than just a remake. I don't remember any of this from FF7 and I beat it twice. It looks like a solid game and I hope it pans out. I won't preorder because of my all digital stance but I will own this game upon release.

You don't remember the beginning of the game? That's... Odd

Wowie wow wow, It's exactly like I wanted graphically. Action rpg I can manage, especially if it lets you control specific characters (Cid FTW)

Biggs, Wedge & Jesse :( They have faces, voices, and personalities now...

Really hoping they have a large section of Midgar to traverse through.

Yeah, this is bullshit.

Um, not really? Action games and action RPGs sell much more than turn based RPGs. To most people (ie the entire gaming audience) games where you have to sit around and wait for things are very boring.

Just because you enjoy slower paced combat (I do as well), it doesn't make us not a small minority.

did not expect to see anything nearly this far along, pleasantly surprised. Looks great!

I hope there is plenty of character switching so that you can build that same attachment/affinity towards certain characters that party-based battles allowed!

Looks cool. I just hope it still has its RPG roots with town and houses. I dont want an action game entirely.

Like how its still kinda cartony too.

Seriously?
I guess it would explain why it's going at such a good pace :p

Well, this isn't any insider teasing or anything, it's just that since it was announced there's been word going around that it's one of the UE4 games CC2 is developing for the PS4. The reasons why the rumor gained traction is basically:

a) S-E Japan really doesn't have the resources to make another AAA game of this sort while they're already committed to FFXV and KH3, with FFXIV and DQX still running. The logistics don't check out.

b) CC2 worked with S-E on the FFVII G-Bike mobile game, and both CC2 and S-E staff have expressed interested in working together further.

c) Nomura is apparently a big fan of the studio and their ability to make great looking action games.

Oh wow that absolutely felt like FF7. Blown away!

I hope they create something comparable to the open world, and not just make it setpiece after setpiece.

There's like no backlash in here. Don't tell me I'm the only one incredibly pissed about this?

Modders, does it look possible to mod this back to ATB if it gets a PC release?

It looks ok. I expected it to be different obviously but now that I see it I feeling nothing but disappointment. I probably will skip this and let my fond memories stay as they are.

I wasn't ready ;-;

Eh..I always thought they had personalities.
For the
far too short time you knew them
, they were fairly well-realized characters.

I'm hugely excited. FF7 original isn't going anywhere, and this remake looks intriguing.

I get the feeling it's going to be episodic though. Hmm...

Is the battle system really action-based? The menu at the bottom left doesn't look like it would fit that type of gameplay. I suspect this game is still turn-based in some way.

This isn't what Square would want to hear though.

FF7R and XV are going to be juggernauts.

Cue "Why not both" gif.

I had my doubts, but seeing how much of the opening of the original game they got right with this footage.... DAMN! Keeping true to events/scenes was more of a priority I was worrying about than keeping true to the battle system. Anyways, I don't mind ARPG as long as they keep some way to control all the characters, and like someone said, it looks like you CAN(Barret is controllable). This is basically what Versus originally planned, but then they axed it(shame). For me, in a series like FF, where entire parties MATTER(both gameplay-wise and story-wise), to limit control to ONE main character sucks.

But yeah, I hope to see other infamous scenes translate this well. They got the look of the world down, IMO. I'm not totally thrilled behind the design tweaks of Cloud and Barret, but it's something that won't bother me much. Jessie, Biggs, Wedge look awesome.

lol. what did you expect, honestly? The "count them on one hand" amount of people that prefer turn based/ATB combat is representative of why square moved to a flashier, less abstracted combat system. There are far more people that don't care or prefer this than otherwise, and they're who the game is being sold to.
