Minecraft coming to the Wii U eShop next week (Dec. 17)

Do you have any experience with that clone? It would be interesting to know how faraway from the original thing is. And since the clone is probably made for all the 3DS family of systems, then it's mean there's some extra room for a potential Minrecraft game to stretch it's legs a bit further with the New 3DS considering the substantial hardware improvements.

What's the weakest platform Mine Craft runs on so far?

i think this is the more interesting tangent out of the Minecraft on NIntendo disscussion XD

Edit: Well that and if the developers actually made the effort to take advantage of the Gamepad features, as it would work as a significant difeentiator in comparison to other console versions.

It has a free demo. I downloaded it but only played for like two seconds. It was a creative mode; i do not think any survival mode existed even in the real product. i know nothing substantial, really. Didn't run around for long enough to see how big the worlds were. i remember being annoyed by the interface but that isn't a hardware limitation.

i'd assume the weakest platform it runs on is whichever the shittiest model of phone supported by pocket edition is.

I really hope it will have Gamepad interface and that they will add various Nintendo themed packs shortly after release

I could dog it for my son. I dont like the genre

Needed to happen before NX launched, that way they could have Minecraft there from the start.

It doesn't really help Wii U for now, but at least prevents young Minecraft fans from passing on Wii U in its last year in lieu of a competitor, but they still have to be hooked by other content.

Splatoon, Mario Kart and Mario Maker.

Why are they not releasing a version of the game without the DLC? I know there's a version on XBL & PSN that the has same DLC as the Wii U version included with it, but they also have the base game to buy. Weird that Wii U isn't getting both.

Big announcement

Excited to get it one day, but $30?! Guess I'll wait for a sale.

Seems you guys didn't read the first 3 pages of the thread where you would have discovered that it comes with several DLC included that aren't on other platforms. Hence the extra 10$. Also known as "Holiday Pack" on other platforms... which is also 30$.

We have no idea what the NX is so how could you possibly make that assumption and with Minecraft coming to the Wii U, it practically guarantees it being on the NX.

Right. I was only saying this because of the perfect fit that Minecraft and the Gamepad make.

Had you actually read the original thread for the announcement of the announcement you would'venoticed that it was Nintendo's indie guy who mentioned this on the side. Had he not been on that podcast we wouldn't have know that anything would be announced today.

I did read that (in the OP), and I didn't even say it's a bad deal, but I don't care about the DLC. I just want the base game.

It's pretty weird that the wiiu only has the option of buying the dlc bundled version. The other consoles have the option to purchase the base game at 20, right? or am i way off base? I purchased the thing for pc in, like, the alpha, and i think i paid 10 euros so i have no clue what the game's final price tag was.

I bet they wait for a Nintendo skin version to make it standout as a more unique product from the other versions.

oh,good call. I was wondering if we'd see a retail version and that'd make a ton of sense.
I wonder if it'll just be skins and stuff or if it'll include other elements. I guess I have no idea what kind of add-on content Minecraft gets these days.

People posting "JEEZ read you'd know why this is so ridiculously expensive" - do you think your average consumer will do that (ergo know why it's so much and not $6 like on their iPad)?

If that were true, it wouldn't have done well at 20 dollars on the other consoles, I assume. Maybe splitscreen turned out to be a big deal to enough kids?

Ha ha, seems like most of GAF doesn't have children or young siblings and/or doesn't understand the importance of Minecraft on a family console - no matter how old or widely available is it.

Minecraft wasn't on any console five years ago. It wasn't even on the PS4 and Xbox One until last year. And the 360 version came out only 3 years ago.

Geeez, 3 years?

And it still shows up in NPD top ten as recent as September.
I understand that a physical release is planned, but it would've been great if it were ready for the holiday. Guess they ran out of time...
