If there is a silver lining to all of this, it's that he can leave the MG franchise behind as it's beyond his control now, and the shit storm can be aimed at anyone other than Kojima. I bet he's happy he dodged that mine.

The Nikkei article doesn't tell the whole story I feel, as it doesn't state who is going to be the publisher for Kojima's new studio, it just says Kojima is negotiating with Sony on whether it will go to Sony's platforms first or not. But big games don't pay for themselves. If negotiating for platforms is already under way then the publisher must already be known.

Exactly. If PSNation is correct then it's Sony.

Kojima Hideo, a famous video game creator known for the Metal Gear series has left Konami Digital Entertainment as of December 15th.
:D
He will form a new company where he will continue developing video games,
:DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
with plans to release on platforms such as Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE)'s PlayStation.
:(
B-but... my Xbox. D:

Seems like a new game not in development right now would take 3 years at least. Not that excited unless he had been planning something for awhile.

Exciting times ahead. Hope its not horror game.

Any word on how Kojima escaped the Konami dungeons? Was Big Boss involved?

Got past security like

Well, we should be able to find out by the end of December at the latest.

Anyone else who was fired from Konami needs a job and they need it fast, so if Kojima wants to hire them back, he has a very short window to operate in.

If he only has a small team though, then it could be much, much longer.

You know, we are already past the major insanity of this thread, but --

People aren't born with Xbox or Playstation or PC tatooed to their foreheads. No one's locked to anything.

You guys can respond to changing market realities and, you know, adapt your consumption decisions.

I wish Sony would quit if this "console debut" "first on Playstation", time exclusive bullshit, either you fund it or you live it alone, that's a shitty tactic.

Microsoft does it as well. It's because both parties partake in the action that it continues to exist.

If PS4/PC,

Perhaps it's like the Devil's Third situation where there's an online component (like MGO) but the story mode is exclusive to console? Cross-play for the online stuff.

Maybe he made some maneuvers on his Vacation.

I hope nothing about this deal is like a devil's third situation

So the rumors of a Sony collaboration with Kojima were kind of true. At least for some kind of timed exclusive or possibly exclusive.

This thread has delved into insanity and grasping at straws.

Konami will probably sell the Metal Gear Solid IP at some point, right? They have no desire to make a traditional MGS game again and without Kojima the brand isn't that strong (MGS V actually underperformed) but a company like EA, Microsoft, Nintendo or Sony that IP would very likely overpay to get that IP on their portfolio. Why would Konami keep the IP? Pachinko? Mobile bombs? Big Boss underwear? On the other hand it's Konami.

<3 good luck Kojima. Interested to see what you do without the shackles.

I believe that Kojima without the shackles will probably take 10 years to finish a game. He suffers from the same disease as Kazunori Yamauchi of always trying to make everything perfect and never being satisfied with less than that.

I like Kojima creative ideas but with free reign we will probably his next game during the PStreamBox generation.

Maybe he made some maneuvers on his Vacation.

This is the day his vacation officially ended, so it's the first time he'd be legally able to announce a studio.

I suspect that's why the Nikkei article went up today, since he probably walked over to meet with Sony in person for the first time instead of doing it covertly over lunch or whatever, then someone saw this and reported it in.

It is shitty if you don't own a PlayStation console.

Which is the point of such deals.

But I own a PS4 and I still found it shitty, they most likely could have fund another game with that money or if they really believed in the project fund it altogether instead of this half assed bullshit.

Microsoft does it as well. It's because both parties partake in the action that it continues to exist.

I really don't care if MS does it to I don't own an XB1 and I have no interest in buying one, and even then Spencer stated that they will focus on their IPs. I hope he's not full of shit regarding this.

Microsoft spent almost the entire last gen doing shit like this instead of making their own games other than the occasional Halo or Forza. And they beat the PS3. And people ate their shit up.

Companies gonna company.

Sony is mimicking Microsofts success.
