Kojima's new game will be published by Sony, is also coming to PC, not Silent Hill

Probably one of the concessions they had to make to get kojima. I mean he could have gone to someone else if they had said no and they couldn't boast that it was a console exclusive.

Sony would have been stupid otherwise. They get a new console exclusive made for the ground up on PS4 and then Koj gets to release it on PC later. It's definitely a win-win situation.

I remember last gen, it used to be Xbox 360 vs PS3. Now it's PS4 vs PC.

Well... Doesn't matter. I'm using a Mac so by default I can't play 90% of the Steam games already.

That's not really true at all. There are about 8000 games on Steam, I know Linux is at about 1700. Mac is probably a little above that.

I play a bunch of PC games and all on an integrated Intel chipset and on Linux. You don't have to join the dick-waiving look-at-my-PC crowd to enjoy the vast majority of games on Steam. ;)

How can you argue against the PC version being the most definitive, best, and so on? There is no debate here. The PC version will be the finest version... What's the issue?

The issue is that he derailed the thread with typical "PC is better" rhetoric when we should all just be happy at the fact that it's coming to both platforms and that Kojima is no longer trapped at Konami.

Seriously, this a good thing but now everyone is arguing for basically no reason.

On topic:
Of course it's not Silent Hills, it's "Quiet Slopes feat. Guillermo del Toro"
Please let this be true

For the love of god can we have an announcement thread without retreading the same two or three PS4 vs PC arguments. I signed up for GAF to maybe get away from that shit considering how it dominates forums and comment sections elsewhere too.

You came to the wrong place if that is what you are looking for. Not that I don't agree with you.

On topic. I am really looking forward to an original IP.

I like how you're complaining about such comments derailing a thread while you're the one who is responding to an 1 week old comment of an already settled arguement.

And like already said in this one week old argument, it's not the single comment that is derailing the thread it's the hundreds of comments that react to that. Like yours and mine.

That looks sexy. Is this supposed to be Eva? At least she reminds me of her.

I like how the fanboys always have to go back to the same 1 or 2 games.
It's not nearly as bad as PC fanboys saying "Definitive Edition" or something similar every time a game gets newly announced for the platform. I swear it's the most tired trope among gaming forums. It's like they have an inferiority complex or something and need to point out how much cooler their version of the game is literally every time something cross platform comes up.

Nah, they're both equally pathetic.

I doubt the people being happy that they keep getting the objectively better running/looking versions constantly have an inferiority complex. Says a lot about the people getting annoyed by it though.

When they feel the need to drop into (Usually unrelated) threads solely for the purpose of announcing this in a manner that suggests they consider it a personal triumph of some sort then what he said probably isn't too far off the mark with regard to some posters at least.

Well, if a [comparatively] more heavily-moderated forum with a bit more barrier to entry will still be filled to the brim with this sort of stuff, I should probably reconsider my internet usage habits entirely.

To expand on this, of the thousands of multiplatform games released over the past decade I can't think of more than a handful (or even that) which weren't (sometimes eventually, after HW improvements and community fixes) definitive on PC.

Can you?

How can you argue against the PC version being the most definitive, best, and so on? There is no debate here. The PC version will be the finest version... What's the issue?

The reason why "definitive" sticks in a lot of people's craws is that its typically used as as synonym for "superior" or "best", which implies that the console versions must therefore be the inferior versions.

Its just platform warrior bullshit, and needs to be called out as such.

This entire thread has taken an embarrassing turn, if you 100% know that the PC version will be the definitive edition then why even bring it up? It reeks of elitism and is why a lot of people believe all PC gamers are douche bags. If there is no debate then why are you debating?

Tbh, this. It's as annoying as Rise of the Tomb Raider threads with people shit-posting "will wait for GotY PS4 version."

It's such a useless contribution to the thread that only serves as gloating and riling people up.

So what you're saying is that a lot of people are dumb enough to consider an entire group of people to be douchebags due to the behaviour of a few of those people?

Some people just have to find a way to justify the investments they've made. It's a pity that some can be unbearably obnoxious about it, but that's gaming.

It's not the proper outlook to lump everyone into this group, that's true. Not everyone who games on PC acts that way... but those that do make such statements do tend be more vocal than most, so the perception can be skewed.

Does the logo and artwork remind anyone else of policenauts?

I'd die of happiness if the new game is a policenauts spiritual successor.

Which is why I was answering his question as to why it was an issue in the first place. I completely agree with you, which is why I also made a comment about the OP.

Speaking of which, that does look like Eva. Im assuming it has to be a new IP from Kojima.

Typically those with inferiority complexes will use money, social standing, manipulation, or other means to obtain things that are "superior" specifically in order to use that as a way to express their superiority. The condition is usually brought about due to poverty in comparison to peers, depression, low self-esteem, or failing to achieve success. One of the key characteristics of people with this complex is unusually aggressive behavior.

But, y'know, psychology or something. :/

Incredibly Naive
Surprised doesn't Sony have a policy where if they publish a game its their IP? Big fuck you to insomniac if that's the case.

I bought a PC to play 60fps games, but that's some deep shit there, brother.

Unusually aggressive. Hmmm.

Actually, the quip was because the other poster said that -- because PC gamers were playing the objectively-superior version -- that it was silly to think that PC gamers could have an inferiority complex.
