Kojima's new game will be published by Sony, is also coming to PC, not Silent Hill

it don't matter. If the PS4 version looks and runs better then someone fucked up

every time something gets re-released in better hardware people refer to it as the "definitive version", and it makes sense, this is all that's happening here, yet somehow now it's wrong

even beyond that, they've already said PC comes later, so maybe it even does something else. It's on better hardware, and it comes later. That's both the things people use to call something the "definitive version" arent they? the fuck is happening

I bet the game runs and looks great on both (hopefully, and expectedly given the people behind it) so what are we even discussing

the argument makes it sounds as if the PS4, the Xbone, or whatever else is better at handling games than a PC, and that's just factually untrue, is all

I thought the console war fanboyism stuff was with consoles

First of definitive version from what I have read here almost always is about a version with all dlc and such.

My PC version would probably not play at all since I sold my Gaming PC and bought a cheap laptop for work.

I seriously cannot wait to see what Kojima is working on. I love me some Metal Gear but the idea of Kojima working on some new IP gets me so excited. Even if it turns out to be something that I have zero interest in playing, I want to see what it is.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
I remember last gen, it used to be Xbox 360 vs PS3. Now it's PS4 vs PC.

Well... Doesn't matter. I'm using a Mac so by default I can't play 90% of the Steam games already.

Sony has revealed more details about Hideo Kojima's first game at his new independent studio, confirming that the title is also scheduled to launch on PC following its release on PS4.

While Sony is "not disclosing details" on how long the game's PS4 exclusivity will last, it says that the game "is planned to become available on PC (after PS4)", and that it will be a "console exclusive", meaning it won't ever arrive on Xbox One.

The game won't be linked to Metal Gear Solid or the cancelled Silent Hills, either, Sony says, instead being "something completely new". The game will be published by Sony Computer Entertainment who will "provide support [to the game's development] as necessary".

awwwwesomesauce.

How can you argue against the PC version being the most definitive, best, and so on? There is no debate here. The PC version will be the finest version... What's the issue?

Eh, there is a very slim chance the PC version will be gimped in some way. It's very unlikely, but not unprecedented.

But I agree, baring some sort of debacle the PC version should have notable performance advantages especially since this likely won't launch until 2017 at the earliest.

This thread should be one of excitement with PC and PS4 owners sharing their enthusiasm. It's great that Sony are being so upfront about this, and people repay that transparency with this kind of bickering. Urgh.

It's quite disheartening...

Stinky thread this has become.

Well I don't hate my father so I guess that doesn't apply to all companies. *shrugs*

Wanting to make money is one thing but saying any company out to make money doesn't give a fuck is a little extreme but hey, what do I know.

The very fact companies only care insofar as it effects their bottom-line means they don't care about you. If they could, they would ensure to price gouge as much as they can get away with. Stop with trying to attach sentiment to companies -- they just want your money, anyway they can get it.

Err... congrats and all, Kojima but how about you get your new game out first? Or at least a teaser...

Getting a logo for your new business and putting it on shirts, mugs, and paper takes no time away from getting your office built, and starting to get to work. Things aren't out of order, the odd thing would be if he had a teaser before having a logo for the new studio.

So is Sony pouring money into development? I hope so, Kojima is definitely a developer that I want to do AAA games.

It coming to PC does not have to mean Sony does not fund it. I played Halo, Alan Wake and Gears on PC in the past, maybe Sony goes that route here as well.

Anyways, exciting times. Kojima made many great games and even though his main thing was Metal Gear, each of those have been wildly different experiences.

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
Kojima's new game centered around the North Pole and that's Mrs Claus.

She's a boss fight in the game.

Thanks for letting us know.

Truth is, unless you're in denial, it's obvious that a more powerful PC may run a game better. There really is no need to reiterate the point.

Especially considering this game will likely come out in 3-4 years. The ps4 gpu will be absolutely ancient by then.

The deal with sony is that this new game will be console exclusive and they will give support for the development of the ps4 version.
KP can do whatever they want with the ip because they own it and Steam's userbase is massive so they know there's money in there.
At least that's how i see it.
PC is not a threat to the PS4's market, nor in direct competition with it.

Sony has no reason to stop an IP from showing up on PC, especially if they don't own the IP.

And let's be real, anything Kojima sells as a PS console exclusive will be a system seller.

Just a question, since it seems like I've missed a few details... Was it confirmed that the new Kojima Productions will retain the rights on this future new IP? Because last time I checked, whenever SCE published a game for a 2nd party studio they always had full rights on this IP. The fact that this IP as a game is also appearing on PC doesn't seem to have anything to do with IP ownership, see Helldivers as the main example of a Sony-owned IP appearing on PC.

I haven't been this excited for a game Koj had anything to do with since 2nd Runner. Definitely my most anticipated game this gen, even more so than Cyberpunk 2077.
