The OPM debate is already alive and well in the first two pages of the voting thread.

BTW, why is "Salt" and "salty" the standard response to further instigate things? Find something new and a little more clever people.. That is old already; damn internet culture...

Don't worry I don't even have OPM in my top 10.

Anyway when does the voting end?

Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V Episode 87

The dichromatic eyes are back yes! Such an awesome episode for ARC-V to end 2015 and usher in 2016. Too bad we have to wait until Jan 10 for it.

I kind of enjoy how it keeps on going from a happy time then all of sudden something new happens to make people get shocked and hurt. Hopefully Sora can save him, Crow too.

Snow White with the Red Hair first season

Great shoujo romance. I love how Shirayuki is strong, but not that strong. She's more realistic. Anyway, why no Kiki focused episode? Who is she, where did she come from? She's pretty one dimensional right know.

"Salty" will stop being used when it stops being entirely appropriate and accurate :p

Gundam is back bitches. Nagai and Mari Okada saved Gundam.

Those are still pretty awful numbers for Gundam show.

Gundam 00 42,415 Vol 1
Gundam SEED 71,081 Vol 1
Gundam SEED Destiny 80,635 Vol. 1

These are LTD sales for first volumes but knowing how frontloaded disc sales are IBO is not getting anywhere close to even 00. Well at least the sales are better than for Reconguista in G

Gundam Reconguista in G 4,487 Vol. 1

I was planning on watching Oregairu, but I still can't get into it so I watched Euphonium and let's just say that I managed to get past the first episode in this one. :)

Hibike! Euphonium 1-3

Talk about a surprise. First, I didn't even know what a euphonium is. I misinterpreted it as calliphony, so I was expecting a mixed choir-band thing, with the heroine being a singer. Pretty much, idol stuff. I'm glad that's not the case, it would be a lot more boring. Instruments are actually interesting. Unfortunately, I know next to nothing for music, so I'm not sure that I'll enjoy the series to its maximum potential... Honestly, if this wasn't something that more or less everyone here says that it's good, I doubt I'd even bother. Moreover, I'm also a newbie to Kyoani. K-On or Free look uninteresting to me and while I want to watch Hyouka, I really can't get past the first episode. The only other show I've watched is Nichijou, which isn't really an ordinary Kyoani production. I'm of the opinion that an anime needs a unique style to stand out, like the Monogatari series or even the more recent Concrete Revolutio, but Euphonium doesn't really have one and it still stands out. The production values must be really high, because this looks constantly amazing. The animation is fluent, there are so many little details in most of the frames and the characters look great. Well, it's not perfect, I don't really like how shiny everything looks, but it's far from being called just good.
So, for a show with a non-action setting, it sure lacks drama. And damn, I love this. There are shows that handle this nicely but usually, it's just unnecessary drama to create a plot. I'm not sure how Euphonium will continue, but it seems it will mostly focus on the characters themselves, their growth and the bands journey to success. I was really impressed by the pace, they solved dilemmas like Kumiko joining the club and speaking to Kousaka really fast. I feel other shows wouldn't have solved the second one till like the 7-8 episodes in the season... It's moving fast but without being hard to grasp the current situation, mostly because the setting is really simple.

The main weakness of the show seem to be the characters, other than the heroine. I don't like Katou a lot, but I guess she's there as the complete amateur. Sapphire, on the other hand, is completely annoying and I'm not sure what's her purpose is. The worst thing is, Kumiko is stuck with them so far. Asuka is also a weird case, I find some of her antics funny but she's already becoming a bit annoying. The rest of the characters hasn't done much yet, so I can't really comment on them. Aoi and Kousaka hopefully will have some interesting stories there. Oh and I don't like that sensei at all.

Kumiko is really the star of the show though. I like that she's not an amateur but actually experienced, but the show doesn't treat her as a prodigy. She's just above the average, which actually is far more interesting. And she has so many cute and funny reactions. I thought she was bland but she's really a great heroine for this. The only really bad thing about her is that she abandoned her ponytail. Also, I'd be kinda afraid that they'd go on a weird route with all those "The teacher is hot" reactions, but I judging by what people here have said, it will try to tease another route. lol

I was comparing IBO to the recent gundam shows.

Eupho ep.12-END
Nice close to the season. Episode 12 was probably my favorite of all the episodes as it it the epitome of personal struggle and how hard it is to be really successful in what you do. Episode 13 was great from a musical standpoint, but ep. 12 was more emotional and heartfelt.

While Gundam fans are disappointed by the sales numbers, as an Aria fan I'm still amazed 15k people shelled out 200+ dollars for the Aria box set. That list is so good.

Thoroughly enjoyed Volumes 1 + 2 of RWBY.

Volume 3 so far is pretty subpar in the action choreography. The backgrounds look nicer but the action is a lot harder to follow and not as interesting. Did Monty Oum work on any part of S3 or did production begin after his passing?

From the New World 21

I understand why this is all happening. From the very beginning I felt very uneasy about how the queerats were being treated.
They are just fighting for their own rights as a species, by annihilating the humans.

From the New World episode 22-25 Finished

Man, what a show. It's not perfect, but it's ambitious, and well thought out. Oh, and it has an ending! (Remember when anime actually had endings?)

It has a few moments where the pace drags, and the visuals go nuts, but generally the show moves at a nice pace and is easy enough on the eyes.
The music is generally mixes with scenes of happiness and sadness well, culminating in a story that knows that it has to have happy moments to balance out the sad moments.

And From the New World is a brutal story. Not overly violent or edgy, but brutal.
The Infant Immortality trope is defied rather quickly here.
The characters are likable and enjoyable to watch, but they develop fast due to how the plot unfolds. That may leave some viewers forgetting some key aspects early on, so it's important to pay attention to those early episodes.

Also the final episode is fantastic. It's great.
And that a real OH SHIT reveal there at the end. Squealer deserves a statue built of him, yeah he was a dick, but he was right.

Yeah brutal is right. I have always thought that the most disturbing part of the show is that the horrible society they live in was actually set up in a logical manner, just out of pure need for survivability All the rules instituted make sense, and yet one can't help but be disturbed by them because they are an affront to human decency.

Oh. I was using the database Animesuki forums have. Nevertheless still pretty low numbers compared to 00 and SEED. Sad as IBO has been far better than 00 or Destiny.

IBO's numbers are far worse when you consider that it was half off and bundled with a game.

Not to mention how abysmal the TV ratings are. It's probably the biggest flop for Sunrise since Age.

I've seen people recommend Hunter x Hunter, but they always fail to specify which one.

Wiki says there's a:

1998 film
62 episode 1999-2001 series
30 episode 2002-2004 OVA
148 episode 2011-2014 series

Is there a general consensus as to which one is the best?

That is fricking sad. Sometimes I don't get that what makes anime series popular or not in Japan.

People recommend Hunter X Hunter is because of the recent tv series which is 2011 - 2014 and also cover more chapters.

the 2011 series covers everything and is generally what people recommend.

Consensus ? Ha, more like, never ending debate over which of the two is better.

HxH 2011-2014 covers the most so I would go with that.

Don't try to understand

The 1999 series is better, at least out of what I've seen.

It's not easily predictable, otherwise more anime would be doing whatever it is that makes things sell. But it does boil down to a core concept: characters. Not character development, but having characters you can fawn over, fantasize about, draw fan art of, etc. All my experience with people who are heavily into purchasing Japanese anime releases leads me to believe that that is what will make a series sell, whether it is Sword Art Online or UtaPri.
