That did significantly better during the sale than I expected.

In other nice sales news, Divinity OS is closing in on 1 million.

Isn't that a bit low?
Not really. The console version did 58k in October NPD in the US, and that seems to be on par with franchise expectations in the west.

It adds quite significantly to the profitability of localizations, so that should be good for everyone.

That's pretty good. I'm in about 12 hours and loving it so far. The characters are amazing. Lailah is love.

My favorite since Graces.

I just finished it yesterday. IMHO the game is helped a lot by a localization acutely aware of how silly it is. I liked the characters more than in any other Tales I've played, but I don't know how much of that is the game and how much of it is localization.

It just seems like a more fun game so far. There is a lot of random funny scenes, more than usual. Lots of comedic music tracks so I don't think it's just the localization. My favorite two are Graces and Legendia, this might just beat them.

i can't agree more, they've done a pretty good job on the localization, the OST is also amazing.

Eh, it's better to compare to western ToZ sales where we know it debuted at like 50k in NA.

The number was 58k without DD numbers .
Not like it really matter once the game is doing good .
Just wanted to point out that number was Japan only .

Only Tales game I've ever played is Xilia, should I try Zestira too? Is it considered better/worse?

IMO it is better than Xilla 1 or 2 .
Still i think Grace has a better battle system than all 3 of them .

i want to buy it, but i don't know yet... sigh. Just bought mad max... there are simply too many games i need to play. Witcher 3 expansion, SR dragonfall, Pillars of eternity and now mad max.

I hope that those are good numbers. I want more Tales in English, and I want it on PC. It will be interesting to see how much Symphonia sells. Will it be possible to see who buys Symphonia without including the people that got it free from the Zestiria pre-order?

I bought it for the promised Symphonia tbh.
Namco is probably the japanese developer that's handling their PC ports the best. They've come a long way since Dark Souls.

Just substract the number of people that pre-ordered the game. I think it was like 50k or 70k, there was a thread about it.

too bad they went out of their way to create an abstruse weapon system that pretty much works only on chaotic.

let's say it's not better? if you liked xillia you'll probably like zesteria too, tales games don't really take themselves seriously, theyìre kinda wacky and silly but i like them that way

Yep, great number even before the sale, looks like we don't have to worry about the localizations of futures Tales of games, with Berseria being logically already planned for PS4 & Steam.

On the other hand, we know that Steam is not going to make shine every single japanese game. One month after its release, Dragon Quest Heroes has reached... less than 19.000 owners on Steam.

As a reminder, that same DQ Heroes did 31.000 on PS4 for the October NPD, so that was for US only and for retail only. I'm sure some of the NPD thread visitors remember how the low score was supposedly because there was not enough audience for japanese games around here on PS4.

Berseria was already announced for Steam, so I guess they thought the sales arent bad.

Well Berseria is coming to Steam :3

Loving this game so far, I'm with Durante on the localisation embellishments making it a joy to play.

The combat is excellent. Being my first Tales game I was a bit worried at first as the introduction battles are so shallow, but very soon the systems are stacking on each other and the dept his apparent. If only the camera issues could be fixed.

Playing this game at 60fps is also incredible. I started at 30 and it felt just fine, very stable and as smooth as 30 could be. I was curious, and installed the fix, and it truly does benefit the combat AND the visuals greatly.

I you're on PC I would highly recommend this even if you don't usually care about FPS.

Pretty good sales, I enjoyed this game. I've played tales before but this is the only one I got to finish
Luke pissed me off in Abyss too much.

58 k in us only + no dd and 1 month sales against
110k ww + 2and a half month sales

58k on two platforms. And lets not forget that DD copies are more than two times more profitable than physical ones.

115k is a good number and even if the PS4 version was sitting at twice more that amount (which is to be doubted for now) in term of revenue they would be equivalent.

Four words: Koei Tecmo, Square Enix.

Eh, I still buy their games. But their "late barebone port at full price" policy wont help much. I still think SE will be missing out a lot by not having FFXV on PC on say and date.

Oh, that's handy. I wonder if they'll start porting older games if Symphonia does well. I expect DotNW to be ported at the very least.

Pc version was 10$ lower and had a free game.

50$ (70 % revenue per each copies) pc
60$ (50 % revenue per each copies) consoles

According to Steamspy, 40.73% of ToZ owners are from US, so that puts the game at ~46K units sold in the US on Steam.

Not bad having in mind a few things:

- 58K console sales were PS4+PS3.
- Physical copies are less profitable.
- Games like this don't usually have legs on consoles.

I'm one of them but doubt I'll finish this game - it's kidna meh, lacking in story department big time.

Currently playing Trails in the Sky SC and it's a way better game.

It actually is lower than I thought; I'll wait for an official statement from Bamco about the future of the series before making any conclusions about it though.

I won't say that Tales games go on sale all the time .
There were a lot of times where you could pick up tales games for 10 to 20 dollars on console.

I am sorry to say but this is bullshit. Unless you have proof of it, don't just start throwing out random statements like this one. Some of the JRPGs have easily doubled their debut week and some do more than that, but with the inclusion of digital on consoles, we will never get to know the full picture.

Except Dragon Quest Heroes was actually a solid port and Square Enix name doesn't mean automatic failure. Lightning Returns is doing far better in comparison.

Really?

While the story isn't the best I've played, it's certainly good enough to pull me forward. Especially as the characters are quite charming and the interactions/writing are pretty high quality too.

I'm only 7 hours in currently though, so my opinion might change, but right now I love the amount of effort that's gone into the characters in this game. So many little interactions during/after battle, as they roam, etc...

I lost my 70%, 80 hour save (I was even building a map guide for it) in November and never got back to it.

I'll definitely buy the other Tales coming to PC; that's the only way I can play them in the current gen.
