About the (mostly western) third parties and target/audience VS Nintendo.

I am 99.9% confident that core gamers *would* jump in if NX introduced some very cool concept. Totally anecdotal, but A LOT of the gamers I know, people who usually only buy Sony/MS hardware, were more than happy to give the Wii a try back then: I'd say in fact in the beginnings it was a far more balanced phenomenon than it became, audience-wise... lots and lots of casual, obviously, but also longtime, ordinary gamers, genuinely interested in trying what seemed (and maybe actually was) the next big thing, even if it came from Nintendo.

Now, it could be argued that most of these same people didn't even think about considering WiiU as a purchase option right because they got "burned" with the Wii, but I am still convinced that Nintendo might get their attention even with poor 3rd party support at launch (that's the point) by offering something unexpected/totally fresh like they did with the wiimote/Wii Sports combined KA.

i really don't give a shit at all as long as they make great games. the wii u was far better than the wii from a software library standpoint and it didn't even sell 20% the numbers the wii did.

i'm just talking from a sales perspective. cause it's fun.



no one could imagine the wii u selling as bad as it did either. I really think the appeal of a first party nintendo box is just getting weaker and weaker as time goes on. doesn't matter how cheap it is or how many great, exclusive games there are. it doesn't play the games people want. period. that's a bad thing.

But it was pretty obvious also earlier.
We got no leak and no comment at all.
The only reason why nobody even ever commented about NX is simply a complete lack of interest from western publisher.
Maybe we could see another wiiu initial support with lego or skylander because those games sold decently even on wiiu. Even a cod or an assassin are way less probable.
They dont leak non comment because they are not interested in a nintendo hw.
Different matter ffor japanese ones and in fact we already had Koei comment nx, SE pseudo annuncing games, Atlus suspiciously keeping etrian oddissey 5 console secret and so on...

I think the SE pseudo announcement of DQ X and XI is the biggest leak ever heard from a Japanese company. Cultural main difference between them and western devs probably

Well, he's not the most active gaffer, he posts rarely. If he were to agree, he had no obligation to post, since we came already this far without him, especially if he knows that he is one of the people we are expecting leaks from. Also, we know he likes Nintendo, so the whole speculation going into a negative direction despite his knowledge bugged him a little.

If I had to guess, I'd say NDA's. We know for a fact that it's stricter than in 2012 a fellow member (I think Rösti ?) confirmed that. We don't know the details, but I can totally see Nintendo adding a clause that prohibits to even deny rumors. So I believe he would like to join in on the conversation, but can't due to the stricter regulations.

I thought that having software that isn't catered to handhelds was often cited as a major flaw in the PSP. I also thought that putting smash on 3DS and WiiU was viewed as a bad result since it tanked the Wii U sales.

I think the theory is if the game runs on both then no extra development is spent on two different versions. That would make those issues stop being relevant.

I still hope it's not a hybrid, though. That just seems like it would hold back the console games.

I love the idea of a shared platform as I don't have to buy 2 Nintendo systems just to play all their games.

I would have bought a Wii U day 1 if I knew it would have a library of games including Pokemon X, Bayonetta 2, Fire Emblem Awakening, Zelda Link Between 2 Worlds, Luigis Mansion, Phoenix Wright, Monster Hunter IV, Mario Maker, Splatoon, 3D Zelda, Super Mario 3D Land, Donkey Kong Country Returns TP, and etc.

As long as NX Console is slightly more powerful than Wii U (i dont need PS4 level graphics as I have a PS4 for 3rd party games) and has all the handheld games releasing on it I'll buy it day 1.

If they go for a ARM architecture similar to a Shield TV they can have a competitive price. Cheaper than a PS4.

It is how you reveal a console. Either show you want to compete and win or leave the hardware business, get rid of all that R&D and go third party. Mario games would sell CoD or GTA numbers if released on PC, PS4 and XB1.

True. People were saying the Wii U's specs were toned down towards the end. It could explain why Ideaman's hype posts ended up being worded that way and then in the end were wrong. Perhaps he was telling the truth at the time.
