Diablo 3 patch 2.4 now live on PC and Consoles (new zones, challenges etc)

I swear to god that this patch gave me stuttering on my PS4. Already rebuilt my database and etc but it is still happening.

Besides that, loved the changes so far.

Really want to buy Diablo 3 but just can't decide between the PC and PS4 version. Anyone got both versions have a recommendation?

Do you have a stable internet? Do you play with your friends, randoms or alone?

If you don't mind the always online part, you can get the PC version, but read a few threads before buying, there are some cases of stuttering happening even with good machines (it happened with mine, though still D3 Vanilla here). Seasons are great, everybody starting at the same time and etc, so that's a big plus for the PC version of the game. I needed a game to play offline, so I got the PS4 version, the game is fine until you hit Torment X / Great Rifts over 45, then the weak GPU can't handle and the framerate gets bad, too many particles and etc. Until then it is 95% 60fps, no stuttering (at least until this patch, don't know if they fucked it up). I can't talk about hackers because I play 99% solo and 1% with friends, but there are more than a few threads saying that they are a problem.

To be fair, Blizzard has HOTS and Hearthstone with microtransactions that probably go towards funding this and other projects.

It is a game that sold 30 million and is still going quite strong, it is literally one of the best selling games of the generation only behind Call of Duty and GTA, they don't really need more money than it sounds unlike other company who doesn't know when to stop. Also Samurai we spend way too many times posting together.

I hope they consider another Reaper of Souls-like expansion or starting to work on Diablo 4

Arent we due for 2 more expansions? I remember reading there were supposed to be a total of 3. That being said, I hope they have some story tied to the actual new zone and an end boss.

My PS4 may as well be dubbed a Diablo machine because that's all I've been playing since black Friday... Even though I have a many "GOTYs" in my backlog.

Resuming my suspended game and greeted with the update screen felt so good.

I bought the expansion around the time it came out but never played it until today. It was fun but the final ~5th and boss was kinda meh.

Will play it for a week or so with the new season to fully get my $30 worth.

I thought this was going live with the new season
The new season starts on Friday. It's actually a smart move for Blizz not to roll out the patch and start the season at the same time, as it gives them a little time to fix any lingering problems with the patch which weren't caught on the PTR.

Owning it on PS4 and PC, and as someone who didn't do leaderboards in D2, I can't quit seasons. Dunno why.
Seasons are a lot more approachable for the average player than D2's equivalent. They also offer lots of exclusive cosmetic rewards (pets, portrait frames, banners, etc), some of which are very easily obtainable; once you've done that, they draw you in with the prospect of completing as much of the Season Journey as you can.

Im sure they could add an online only mode to consoles to get rid of duping and hacked items. Shame that they have decided not to.

Been testing it for a couple hours now and holy shit did hunters get buffed, walking through torment 10 like its a joke when I couldn't even do 7 before without dying all the time.

As a new RoS player on PS4, I'm not understanding what's going on.

I started my first character (Demon Hunter) on Normal level. About halfway through ACT 1 and I've picked up several legendary items already including a Nagelring that one shots Bosses.

Is it supposed to be this easy? I don't remember D2 being like this at all, grabbing rare and legendary gear every few minutes. I actually bumped the difficulty up to very hard, just to have any challenge at all, but that Nagelring still blows up almost everything. Are console versions really this dumbed down?

Normal is very, very easy. Give the difficulty a hefty boost if you want a challenge. Also rare items on earlier levels don't count as you swap them too fast. It's all about the endgame, and the real upgrades once you hit that aren't that common.

Anyway. I can't wait to go back home and give ita go :)

Yeah, seasonal rewards are pretty easy to get until you get four chapters deep in the seasonal journey and they start asking for some pretty nuts stuff. And unless you're going for ancient gear there's enough available to get you up to T8 if you try.

I play this super casually so the PTRs are all I can get into. Those crazy drop rates make my time a lot more enjoyable because I see so many more interesting items. I'm actually able to try different builds and really try new stuff. The idea of taking the time to find a complete set, let alone multiple sets is too much.

Maybe I'll start season five and see if it rekindles my love for the game!

The difficulties are designed to be changed based on what you've played of the game and what you've unlocked. Keep bumping it up. Don't play on normal. That was your first mistake. You get better rewards for playing on higher difficulties anyway.

This has nothing to do with consoles. The difficulty is the same in both versions (except for a difference in enemy numbers).

This new season gives you a full set when you complete chapter 4 of the season journey which is very easy.

Same. Played fine and after the patch its pretty bad on my end. Leaping with my Barb is now like Russian roulette, lots of short freezes, stutters, etc - with or without friends in game.

My friends were also commenting about it so we aren't alone.

Does the PS4 version auto-update or do I need to perform some magic incantation?

I have the reaper of souls (Ultimate Evil edition).

So with Patch 2.4 happening for console and PC, I'm trying to resurrect the D3 (PS4) community on GAF. I'm pretty sure there are more than a handful of people that will be playing again, so I created a community on PS4 seeing how there wasn't one (unless Diablo III GAF is the name that got buried in obscurity. How do I check? :lol). Anyway, request an invite here in the OT or send me a PM if you're interested. I'm keep registration strictly for GAF members.

Let me know if any of you on PS4 want to play. I might as well ask here.

should auto update.
But if you want to check for the update just highlight it in the dashboard, press options and select "check for update" (or something similar, i have the console in italian)

It does auto update, though if you didn't touch the game in a long time it might consider skipping it. In that case, press Options on it and select Check for Update.

That's the only one there is for PS4.

EDIT: damn, beaten. :D

Diablo 3 is my 2nd favourite game of all time (behind World of Warcraft) with over 1500 hours in it over the 3.5 years that it's been out. So looking forward to this season since it seems like they've made a lot of different specs viable and fun for non-top end play. I want to play every single class again given all of the new legendaries and set changes because everything sounds overpowered.

Yes! Free wings! Omg this game!!! I remember the shitshow on PC over the past and I ended up bailing after 1k+ hours when all loot was account bound, the PS4 version has been way more enjoyable for my wife and I. The server latency on PC was always a pain in the ass for us too and it was awesome being able to play HC without getting fucked over by the stupid server.

The UI change for passives on the console version is nice (the circles showing they're active, and also them not taking up buff space in the bar above), and also having deaths breaths look different on the floor.

My book of Tyrael just arrived this week as well. So hyped for Friday. I needs me some more Diablo! Hopefully a new expansion is announced this year at Blizzcon. Love this patch already and the set dungeons are already frustrating and fun.

No that was for StarCraft 2. There is no official announcement of any new expansion for D3 (yet) but some fans thinking Blizzard will reveal their plans for a new D3 addon this year.

Hey gang, I haven't played D3 much since it launched on PS4. It was my first Diablo and I had a great time playing with my roommates, but eventually I got burned out. I had this sudden realization that I was just mashing the same button pattern over and over, forever, with no real goal or challenge. It's like, normal mode didn't have enough penalty for dying but hardcore mode's permadeath was too extreme. So it just felt pointless to keep playing after I'd finished the campaign and done some end game shit.

But I'm thinking about creating a new character in a new class and giving the game another go. Is it worth it? Have the changes been significant? I played as a Witch Doctor, who should I play as for a fresher experience?

If only Blizzard would give us consoleros a means to compare weapons ignoring gems. On PC, you just hold shift and get a fair comparison. On PS4, you need to apply thumb rule, then drop some cash over at Shem's to remove it temporarily to be sure it is worth enchanting a socket onto the new one. It's not like every button is assigned in the inventory so they could find a way if they thought it neccessary. bummer...
