I hate Malo. He was the first sign that we weren't getting a "mature" Zelda after all. I'm not asking for The Last of Us or Game of Thrones or anything, but something on at least the level of Lord of the Rings or Pan's Labyrinth was what I was expecting and wanted.

Malo and Oocoo are among my favourite Twilight Princess NPCs. Along with Malo just being an endearing character, the uncanny valley effect given by translating their exaggerated features into the game's style helps them avoid the 'unremarkably quirky' look they'd have had in the styles of Wind Waker or Skyward Sword. The post-Majora's Mask mascot version of Tingle will always be a more boring design to the original for similar reasons.

Pan's Labyrinth? This movie is more mature than Game of Thrones and The Last of Us together, regarding story, gory scenes and underlying messages.

Nonetheless every Zelda game I played was "mature" even when it had some elements that fits for childs too.

Gore, soap drama and little girls in Zombiland are no "mature" themes.
