I maintain the WWE handled Hulk Hogan poorly.

It cut bait when it should have allowed Hogan to make an on-air apology during Raw. And then I would have put Hogan's fate to a vote. The "universe" would get to decide if Hogan's apology was sincere and if he deserved continued employment.

Then I would have sent Hogan out on whatever sort of media tour I could conjure up to speak about racism, his hurtful comments, the apology, and his regret.

When he'd done his penance -- with the understanding that he was sincere and forthright throughout the whole procress -- I would have reinstated him as a legend.

I assume Carmella is the in-between Takeover storyline as Bayley's opponent, she's not that great in the ring.

Give me #TheRedQueen for the title again at least the crowd will be entertaining.

Carmella is fine in the ring. She has a ways to go, yes, but she's progressed greatly since she started, and she's only been running the NXT circuit for a little over a year now. I have no problem with her getting this push. If Bayley could get a good match out of green as hell Nia Jax, then I'm sure she can get a pretty good match out of Carmella.

She already got her match.

It goes like this. On the taping rumble weekend. You get
Joe vs Zayn
for number 1 contender for the Wrestlemania show. Then you get Carmella vs Bayley for the title.

Everyone knows its going to be Bayley vs Asuka for the title during wrestlemania weekend. Eva Marie is going to be most likely fed to Asuka during the rumble taping.

Wait so the Friday show is not a house show? I'm actually going to that one before Rumble but I assume it's just a big house show.

No, it's a 4-show taping. And the understanding is that it'll be a more eventful taping than usual. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see a name guy like Sombra debut there.

I think it's meant to be the substitute for a Takeover show, given there's not one til April. There normally isn't such a long gap.

Who are you telling. I couldn't wait for Friday's man. Sd was my show. Now I barely find time to watch it and Raw is more background noise.

Yeah, your post just made me wax nostalgic.

Unrelated, can I just say I find it fascinating how NXT has somehow managed to put gimmicks/plots/hooks on wrestlers I would normally not care about and made me at least slightly care about them (e.g. Corbin's silly "I hate indies" thing, Eva Marie's heat) while the main show flounders to build up any interest in the talented folks they have?

It's just entirely baffling to me that they can miss so badly, but really it shouldn't be.

Becky was the one hurt the most by the promotion last summer. She was really starting to get over in NXT and was the one designated to eat pins for awhile. Luckily that's sorted itself out recently and this feud with Flair is paying off.

glad to see the #BexExpress moving forward in full steam!

My goal is to catch up to NXT before the Royal Rumble. I've got the rest of the week off and only have one live event left, the one with the Ironwoman match. I saw London live. Still a tall order with the other stuff I have going on this weekend but doable.

Was the London event an hour or 2? Actually how long are their specials in general?

I now see something. About the problem of AJ being unknown to some of the wwe audience.

I think that's why they do internet hype and rumors. So that even the more mainstream of their audience heard about him and that he's a big deal, so they can introduce him as main eventer directly.

Right. You can tease and tease that way but ultimately if he makes his debut at the Rumble, the hardcore Rumble crowd pops huge for him AND he eliminates Lesnar on his first night, that's instant superstar status for anyone who doesn't know who he is.

No one is BEATING Lesnar (until Reigns does) but eliminating Lesnar from the Royal Rumble is a pretty big fucking deal. Instant superstar right there.

Also, I just watched the 1992 Rumble.

THIS

IS THE GREATEST

MOMENT

OF MY LIFE

Brock and Roman will be the last 2 standing. Roman will have Brock beat when Hunter or Vince or Hunter AND Vince interfere, costing Roman the match and leading to Brock joining the Authority (and maybe even ditching Heyman). They have to do whatever they can to turn Brock into a true heel if they don't want Roman to get boo'd out of the building when he beats him at Mania.

Everyone here is so confident that Jimmy Haitch is going to win that you're all going to feel real silly when Barack does.

I already cracked this code a few days ago.

Edit:

Yes, exactly.

Except I think Barack will keep his independence and Rocky will take on The Authority for Wrasslin'Mania. Stone Cold needs to be a special referee for something after all.

The thing I think they still have to be worried about, even with all the work they've done to get Roman over, is they could flush all of that down the toilet if they put him up against a white hot and still super over/popular Brock. The last thing they need is to end another signature PPV with Roman being boo'd. If they are really hell-bent on Roman/Brock for WM, they need to spend the next 3 months making Brock unpopular.

That's a valid concern, but I think if you're going to do the match, then it might be better to just go for it while making both men look as good as possible. Won't the same fans who dislike him now only become further incensed if they try aligning Barack with The Authority? If they make a really transparent move, it might make it even worse at Wrasslin'Mania. That crowd is going to boo him no matter who he faces I feel, even if it's Jimmy Haitch.

At least Reigns has been getting some support with other parts of the fanbase, so that shouldn't change. Granted, I don't ever watch Raw, but it seems that way on PPV at least.

haha, that American Alpha-promo was tremendous

edit: booking Crews as the face in peril against guys like Dillinger doesn't work IMO. don't see the point of keeping him in NXT much longer

What if we're all getting worked into thinking it's HHH or Brock and it's actually Taker who wins? Then Roman vs Haitch at Fastlane for the shot at the title at WM32 and then Reigns goes over the deadman in the main event of Wrestlemania Star? I'm sure it's more interesting than whatever they have planned.

Surely not even this company is deluded enough to think there's anything they could do to get Roman not booed vehemently against the Deadman.

This reminds me of the people who swore for the last 2 years that Bryan would be winning the Rumble

At some point you're putting too much hope into thinking the stupid and obvious result could never possibly be the actual intended and ultimate result

Golden rule #7: There's a fine line between faith and delusion

Yeah nothing they do would make Brock a "true heel" that wouldn't be cheered over Reigns by a WM crowd.

I love those rumors of putting the tough enough guy in the rumble, basically pushing the match and storyline to the side for a bit just to punish someone. Typical WWE/Wrasslin bullying bullshit.

Based on Meltzer's comments; I am guessing they are trying to convince Rock to wrestle Brock, but have HHH / Roman as either the Main Event (if Rock can't) or 2nd from the top if Rock comes back to face Brock (he has his guaranteed rematch from losing to Cena all those WMs ago)
