...lacks reading comprehension.
The thing is, I could see this modular approach working well for a Bespin UCS set.

I can't. It would probably be the same size as 10123 with an additional Cloud City spacecraft and three times the piece count due to lots of 1x1s and 2.5x the price. I prefer they do a midiscale Bespin instead.

I do have the feeling that the Hoth set is overpriced, but I think if add up all the smaller sets of those scenes that were released previously it would be comparable. Ewok village just looks more substantial for the price.

Now that this has been revealed, when it UCS Cloud City gonna happen?

All the Hoth posts had me taking another look at the Ewok Village...

Do we know with any certainty yet when that's getting discontinued? I just noticed that Amazon took it down but they have it down for review saying something's wrong with their inventory. LEGO is still selling it on their website but as a "hard to find" set.

I want one, but I'm debating how quickly I can/will spend the $250 on it...

Also, anyone know any tricks to getting sets at a lower price at all? 10% Target mover's coupons is all I could think of, but they exclude some brands and it wouldn't shock me if LEGO was among those.

I echo some of the comments in regards to Assault on Hoth.

The problem is that the set is not big enough. It needs to be 2500+ pieces to fully tie the whole set together. Ewok Village is one connected set that looks like a substantial build when completed even at 1990 pieces (the trees could be taller). Assault on Hoth does not have that look simply because there are a bunch of smaller builds and the nature of the base. There is no central chunky build to really tie everything together and not make it feel like 4 sets packaged in one box. The hangar needed to be that large build and it simply isn't. It needed to be more enclosed and packed with detail while the smaller builds surround it. It is either that or simply focus on the hangar itself and do away with some of the smaller builds.

I will reserve final judgment until I see it for myself. It may be one of those sets that looks better in person.

One area they could have cut pieces and the price, or put the pieces towards the actual base, is the Wampa and Wampa Cave. I'm not really sure how that little scene has anything to do with the "Assault" on Hoth. If anything, they could have cut that out and added something like an AT-ST, so at least you had a little more of an assault taking place.

Brilliant idea! It didn't occur to me that the rip cord teeth are compatible with Technic gears. It's one of those "duh!" moments.

To tie it in to Hoth base news, Rebels could have used this during the assault on Hoth base.

I currently have none of the Hoth sets that ghostmind listed (I have a Snowspeeder and AT-AT) so Assault on Hoth would be a good way for me to get right into it.

that's kind of appealing as somebody with no earlier hoth sets except maybe a battle pack. From when it was announced, I was definitely confused as to how they'd have a solid centerpiece for the set based on what's in the movie. I just assumed they'd exaggerate the interior and make a giant network of hallways that was snowy on the outside. Turns out the solution was to just not worry about having a centerpiece. I definitely understand people being disappointed.

but if I get this, then i need an AT-AT....

The thing that bothers me the most is that it is called "Assault on Hoth". An assault that consists of two Snowtroopers and one cannon. Wow, what an assault force. The Empire is going to get their asses handed to them.

I'm going to add to the dogpile on Hoth and say that it's very underwhelming. The silver lining to that is that it's one less set to drool over. Plenty of other SW sets that need buying :)

That set is on it's last legs. It was released in 2013 so I wouldn't be surprised it goes away before May 4th.

The cheapest way to get it is to wait until Double VIP points in March. Buy it online with a Discover card and you can stack a 5% cashback bonus on top of it.

I'm not disappointed at all in the Hoth set because... I was totally expecting this. I wasn't able to see how they could recreate anything as a base with ~2000-2500 pieces, especially when you throw in vehicules, cave, etc.

Easy pass, but that's for the best, I'm already spending far too much money in this.

Assault on Hoth it is not.

LEGO, create an Assault on Hoth or don't; there is no try.

Not sold on this, I am.

Twilight is upon this set, so I must pass.

Money better put towards other sets, it is.

How will LEGO discount this set if it doesn't move?

Or will it move just enough to justify its existence and most all here at LEGOGAF just happen to dislike the set enough to not buy it, hmm?

I'm about halfway through my first set (Simpsons house) and I'm really sad there aren't going to be any more Simpsons sets.

At least I can do the Kwik-E-Mart after :/

Ewok Village is still one of the best sets out there. Pics don't really do it justice, as it is a fantastic little play set with so many hidden gems to it, and it is damn fun to build as well.

A link to the gallery of review pics I made for the set back in 2013.

Get the set while you can. Was both mine and Ghostmind's #1 set of 2013, and with very good reason.

I'm still feeling the Hoth set, it's just not touching Ewok Village in my heart.

Truth of the matter is I don't have a lot of Hoth items so I'm just going to get it for that reason probably. It does a good job of recreating some of the external structures, which is nice.

I kinda wish they'd just not included a Snowspeeder and made the structure a little larger. Just keep the existing Snowspeeder and AT-AT in print a little longer to go with this set, is what should have been the plan.

so I guess the Poe's X-Wing shortages are continuing?

Every time it goes in stock on amazon it shoots way up the charts and sells out.

I also haven't seen one at any local TRU or Targets in a while.

I'm starting to feel bad for the Hoth set now for all the hate its getting. I mean, its taking some heat off the Batcave but I still feel bad for the little guy.

Well I guess it's a testament to what was done right before by Lego. This set just missed the mark. I guess they need a bad set here or there to keep them honest.

Oh, I, for one, still plan on getting it but it's just a little disappointing to see what it is compared to what it could have been. You think $250 battle of Hoth set and expect something similarly epic as Ewok Village and instead you get a few new little builds (which will be welcome additions) and a bunch of rehashes thrown together. To those who have few or no previous Hoth sets, this probably looks pretty great (price aside), but to those of us who have all the previous ones, I was hoping to see a lot more new or bigger, better things included in it.

I actually don't have any of the previous sets (except the snowspeeder) so I probably will eventually get it because I like Hoth too much.

YAY I got my S@H box today with mixels, V-Dog and CMF 15's. I'm surprised I got such a good haul of figs. I mean all of them was good so I don't think I would have been disappointed getting any but I only got one double and it was a goodun. I still pretty much want them all still.

Yep, this exactly.

I'm also getting it as I get every retail Star Wars set, but it won't be making my "best of" list.

The Hoth set looks really bad.

Like compare the big white turrets to the actual turret from the movie. The proportions are terrible.

The turret from the original 2007 Echo Base set Ghostmind posted looked way better.

Only part I really like from the new set is the Ion Cannon.

You order your CMFs on s@h? Also thanks for the reminder; I still need to go to the LEGO Store. I want the goat boy, knight, and baroness.

Anyone know if the knight's mace is in 2 pieces? I guess the mace would be the thing to feel for. For the baroness I guess it's her grappling hook. And goat boy the legs? If the mace is in two pieces then the handle would feel the same as the flute.

The series covers the events before the First Order’s attack on Jakku and includes characters like Kylo Ren, BB-8, Captain Phasma, and Poe Dameron. The first episode, “Poe to the Rescue,” tells the story of the Resistance pilot heading to help Admiral Ackbar escape from the clutches of Kylo Ren’s trusted Captain Phasma. Future episodes will also show Finn, Rey, Maz Kanata, and Han Solo in action. Watch a clip from the series above.

The knights mace is indeed 2 pieces.

And I usually order my CMFs from S@H, too. Something I need to stop doing as my assortment is always horse shit from them. I ordered 22 of the newest series and got 10 unique ones and 12 dups. I don't mind extras but not quite that many.

No Lego store near me. Also all my stores suck for carrying CMF's, my only luck with them is finding an empty box of them in Walmart to cry in or occasionally coming across older CMF lines in walgreens.

And the goat boys legs are the GOAT. I'm also really impressed by the Kendo guy in person, his helmet piece is really nice. Rom the space knight is also impressive in hand.

Maybe I'm being too harsh, but how anyone can't think Hoth is laughably bad for its price point is beyond me. Batcave at least has pieces and builds we haven't gotten 3-4 times before.

Seriously, compare the contents to Jokerland: both licensed sets with a good assortment of minifigures and smaller-to-medium builds and it's a night and day difference. The set is beyond lazy. The shield generator is the size of the 2014 CITY Camper van. C'mon.

Hate is a strong word. I feel like disappointed it more accurate.

It looks like a good set, but underwhelms as a UCS set. You probably should filter out opinions of those that have the smaller Hoth sets (from the past few years) that are almost the same builds at those in the UCS Hoth set.

I do want the minifigs, but probably won't get them by buying that set or paying very high aftermarket prices. 7879: Hoth Echo Base set would probably go very with this UCS set.

I will wait until I see it in person at a LEGO store. As I said previously, I have none of the previous Hoth sets outside of the Snowspeeder and an AT-AT. That makes this set more worthwhile for me if I purchase it.

Hoth set only reinforced my dislike of playsets. I was never really interested in the Ewok Village but by comparison it Hoth makes it look like a masterpiece.

I'm only hesitantly going to get the batcave for the minifigs

I don't envy the designers though, trying to make a set that encompasses the the massive area that is Echo Base is no small feat.

Ok, I'm going to break up the Hoth hate here for a just a second to post my display.

It took me some time to decide what I was going to display, but it came down to walkers and gunships/ground support aircraft because who doesn't like heavily armed vehicles? I was thinking about doing a modular/city theme at first, but I didn't want the display to be too packed/dense.

It took me a few months to get it setup the way I wanted, but here it is:

I need to look back at reactions to the Ewok Village reveal.

So the New York Toy Fair is mere hours away, and I'm hoping for some surprises we haven't seen yet.

Disney CMF sneak peak?

First look at DC Super Heroes Girls?

A look at Fantastic Beasts? (probably SDCC)

The next wave(s) of Dimensions sets? Adventure Time? Harry Potter? Teen Titans Go!?, Marvel?, connectables?

Anyone else with some hopes/predictions?

I want to see the Disney CMF as I'm sure I will be hunting every single one (two sets) for my nieces.

DC Super Heroes Girls is interesting because of the playsets they may offer. We might get some sets outside of the traditional DC theme that we wouldn't have seen otherwise.

EDIT: Disappointed to see no printing on the legs of the Civil War MF at all. I never really looked at them closely on the box image. Also BP looks like he is wearing a hat.
