Rumor: Forza 6 and Forza Horizons 3 coming to Windows 10

So...the only real XBONE exclusives left are what? The Halo games and Sunset Overdrive?

Seems pretty great for PC gamers.

At this point I think the next Microsoft console will be a PC with closed specs and a lite/Media Center version of the next Windows. Games for this system and regular PC would be exactly the same and totally compatible. Kinda like a Steam Machine. And upgrades each two or three years or so.

I mean, it's obvious they're moving towards unification of the Xbox brand and Windows. And launching current games for W10 reassures backwards compatibility if I'm right. They're even going the cross-buy route for them.

You think after this they will have a next XBOx?

Framerate puts people at a competitive disadvantage?
Any comparative loss of spatial or temporal resolution puts you at a disadvantage.

I guess they'll just have a console-only playlist so you can choose to keep things as competitive as possible.

I am of 2 feelings on this:
1. Pretty happy because I have a nice PC that could run the games well.
2. Even more salty than I already was that I paid $500 for an Xbone at launch just to play the Forza series.

My Xbox One buyers remorse seems to be getting worse over time somehow. I realized I was playing it so little that I actually let my live gold sub of 11 years lapse for the first time ever. I buy all of my multiplats on PS4, the rest of the exclusives on X1 seem to be coming to PC or just aren't interesting to me at all. The dashboard is still a trainwreck. The Kinect didn't live up to expectations. What a bummer of a system. Oh well.

Overall though, I'd rather play Forza on PC anyway so I guess it's a wash.

That would be very awesome, and would confirm that MS is definitely porting the entire Xbox brand to Windows 10 (which is an idea that I enjoy).

It seems it's a very weak rumor though, since there's basically no source.

At this point, I even expect them to bring 360BC to the PC.

No, I'd rather them make native ports of older 360 games.

It's cool that you can play your existing 360 games on Xbox One but the sad part is that they don't benefit from the additional horsepower of the Microsoft's latest console.

I'm not infatuated with the idea of playing Gears of War 2 at 720p/30fps on my 980.
Really, I'm not.

I believe porting those games over to Windows 10 is a more cost effective option for Microsoft, surely it must not be that expensive, they run on UE3 after all.

I would assume next console will be the true all in one entertainment system where you will be able to play anything from Steam, Origin, Win10 store, GOG and Uplay. It would be the smartest thing they can do and I think it will be very successful. It will appeal to a lot of people if they can do a good job with the marketing and price. The big thing for them is going to be convincing pc gamers to subscribe for XBL because I don't see them doing away with it.

A console with 5 different userfaces all with different control schemes since they're open based platforms with no cohesive library or online communities.

What would MS marketing slogan be? "Please buy a PS5?". What you described is a PC which is a completely separate platform. Bringing Xbox exclusives to PC just makes MS more money. The PC & console audience are completely different.

Honestly this leads me to believe that MS might embrace the new path with the next XBOX. It may become a "steam machine" of sorts with new updates every other year.

This must be a meme at this stage?

Well, not for some people. I own about 15 - 20 X1 games (not counting indies). Except for Sunset Overdrive, all of the third party games are available on PC. If these rumors turn out to be true that means a majority of upcoming first party titles will also be available on the PC.

I own and X1 because I really really like the exclusive games that I can't play anywhere else. I don't have an X1 because of the apps, the free games with gold, local co-op/multi with friends (I don't have friends that play video games anymore), etc. etc.

If the games I can only play on X1 are also released on PC and I have a capable enough PC to run the games, why would I need an X1? Let's say Halo stays exclusive to the Xbox. One game or even two games won't really make it worth it.

I could sell my elite system, games, controllers etc. etc. and money from that plus a little extra would be enough to pick up a high end GPU which would also allow me to pick up a VR headset.

If a majority of the X1 exclusives also release for PC there really isn't a reason for me to keep my X1.

Edit:

I'm not saying there isn't a reason to own an X1, I am just saying for a lot of people there might not be a reason to own an X1 if the majority of exclusives get released on the PC.

Also, if this is true, Microsoft is freaking awesome and It makes me like them and Nadella even more.

Yeh it's shitty for us guys who bought the system when we already have capable PC's but it's just the way it is. Have to take it on the chin as I can't time rewind 18 and reverse me buying the system.

It makes sense what they are doing as this move turns every gaming PC in existence into a potential Xbox from their perspective. The consoles aren't selling as much as they would like so they need to go about making money in a slightly different way.

My beef however is with the current restrictions with the Windows store. they need to sort that shit out ASAP or this move will fall on its face harder than the Xbox One did.

Despite being W10 Store exclusives, I really appreciate that they get serious with PC gaming again after all those years of broken promises.

edit:
and don't forget that Phil tweeted that he wants to make Cross Buy a platform feature, also for 3rd party games.

They don't have control over re-releasing native games tho. That would have to be up to developer and publishers.

They do have control over just doing the BC stuff.

Why would it be a meme? Not everyone is super invested in XBOX like you are. Some people only like/are interested in a handful of exclusive games on that console. If enough of those games are no longer exclusive to that console and they own a capable PC why would they bother spending $300-$399 on that console to play an inferior version. I personally only care about a handful of games per generation that MS has had exclusively on their consoles and never enough to actually buy their consoles. With this I can not bother with their hardware and play it on my PC.

Yep, I don't doubt this at all. I would put my money on it.

Shit, I'll even go so far as saying halo 5 and maybe mcc will be on pc.

I'm too far invested in PC gaming to ever bother to get a console, but I would upgrade to win10 in a heartbeat if MS brought out Master Chief Collection. Forza 6 would be great and pretty much anything else from them.

I was pretty turned off about having ANOTHER store where I buy games digitally (quantum break), but if I'm able to buy all Xbox one exclusives for PC in the Windows 10 store... Yes please.

This really does seem like ms exiting the console business if true though.

Good point. But I frankly doubt this is a very requested feature on PC.
I mean if I wanted to be restricted to pitiful IQ I could just play Gears 2/3 on 360.

What would be the added value of 360 BC on Windows 10.

I'm not certain it is even feasable.

Well there goes my reason to buy an xbox one

edit:
I was really considering purchasing an xbox one because of Forza Horizons 2 and Forza 6. If the horizons sequel and forza 6 is coming to PC, there is no reason for me to purchase an Xbox One considering I would be able to play both games on PC soon anyways.

This is a joke.

part of this deal is you have to join the hate train to complain about the windows 10 store.

real response.

I am with you, but I already have an xbox and I really enjoy it. I am hoping they make it so all digital purchases are cross platform. That would make me a primarily XBOX and WIndows 10 gamer for everything. If they could sort it out for third party games as well (not going to happen anytime soon I know)

PC deserves all the games

does it support "wheels" or does it support microsoft's wheel?

because i'm sure they'll have support for their own peripherals, i'm just skeptical about a logitech wheel working

This is my worry. I've got a G25 and I'm definitely in for both if I can use my G25. If I can't I won't bother though.

The funny thing is I believe this was their original intention. The idea behind Xbox was getting windows-based devices into the living room. Unification just makes that idea more fully-realized than it was in the past.

I see MS really putting their weight behind the Windows Store and W10 and if they want any credibility with their efforts then many 1st party titles will be coming to PC.

Is this a negative? It can be, but it shows me and I think to pretty much everyone else that the Xbox platform is not the priority but Windows is.

Will Halo 5 come to PC, doubt it but something tells me the next mainline Halo game will.

The questions MS has to answer are the following:

Will a consumer who has a console other than Xbox purchase our 1st party titles on PC or will they purchase an Xbox to do so?

I think the latter if at all. I see very few Joe/Jane Schmo off the street building a rig to play MS 1st party games.

Would I have built a PC to forego getting an Xbox? Nope.

I'm really interested how this plays out and how MS handles the cross pollination of the PC and Xbox platforms.

For those of you who bemoan MS 1st party stuff not being on Steam, get over yourselves. It won't be, MS is trying to build out their own ecosystem.
