SOMA... Hmmm better than Firewatch?

Firewatch has the better first 2/3rds and a worse last third that you're likely not to like from the general consensus.

Soma has a somewhat worse first 2/3rds but a genuinely incredible, satisfying conclusion.

They're pretty damn different though. I personally liked Firewatch more overall but only by a very slight margin.

Depends. Radically different games. SOMA is very dark, and very much a "thinkers" game. Also is hardcore Sci Fi. I like SOMA way more but GAF is in love with Life is Strange so you'll get a lot more recommendations for that here

Double emphasizing this. I HATE Borderlands games because I'm not motivated by the chance at slightly better loot and also because the humor is terrible, and Tales from the Borderlands is super funny and one of my favorite games from last year.

I'm in the middle of a dilemma. I got 20 something dollars left in my wallet and I could get Volume (been following this for a while, and it looks really good) plus Trine 3 (enjoyed the previous two but haven't heard much from this one).

On the other hand I have read some great things about SOMA and it's tempting me quite a bit. What should I do GAF?

It sucks that Arkham Knight and Fallout 4 got such bad reception from people here because Ive been dying to play them. Even some of my friends didnt like them too much. I guess I'll wait til they go even lower.

Cant speak for Fallout 4 but the biggest backlash for Arkham Knight was the season pass pricing and the totally borked PC port. Its excellent on PS4, just buy it and the Seaons of Infamy and you're good to go with a great Batman game.

If you like the genre and appreciate nice, thick atmosphere- yes. It's absolutely worth $10, IMO.
